The next day.
Jiang Tingzhou's flight was at 2 PM.
The man set off more than three hours early.
Xiaoxiao walked the man all the way to the door and refused to leave, crying as she asked, "Can't I even see Dad off?"
Jiang Tingzhou's driver ran over and took a small, transparent box.
Jiang Tingzhou took the small box, presented it to Xiaoxiao, and said, "This is a gift from your father."
"What...what is this?"
Xiao Xiao sniffed as she looked at the contents of the box, and after a long examination, she finally discerned, "Are they tadpoles?"
Xu Wan also came over.
The man was holding a small fish tank with some aquatic plants and stones inside. If you looked closely, you could see two or three tadpoles hiding among the aquatic plants.
"Little tadpole, little tadpole, are you looking for your mother?"
Xiao Xiao rubbed the tears in her eyes.
She liked the gift in front of her, she liked small animals, and she liked tadpoles.
But her father is leaving today, and even with the tadpoles, she can't get her attention at all.
Xu Wan said, "You can give it to Dad, but shouldn't you accept a gift from Dad first?"
Upon hearing that it could be given to her father, Xiaoxiao's expression instantly brightened, and she stopped crying immediately.
She wiped away her tears, her eyes curving into crescent shapes: "Thank you, Daddy! I love tadpoles! When will they turn into frogs?"
When Xiaoxiao was little, Xu Wan read her many picture books.
One of them is the story of tadpoles looking for their mother.
Jiang Tingzhou reached out and pulled Xiaoxiao onto his lap, placing the small fish tank in her arms. "Daddy promised you he'd be back on Children's Day. You never knew when Children's Day would come, right?"
"Hmm." Xiaoxiao nodded seriously, then looked at Xu Wan, "Mommy, when is Children's Day...?"
When Jiang Tingzhou got to this point, Xu Wan already knew what the man meant.
It takes about 50-80 days for a tadpole to turn into a frog.
There are still about fifty-odd days until June 1st.
Xu Wan squatted down and pointed to the tadpoles in the fish tank, saying, "When the tadpoles have completely turned into little frogs, Children's Day will arrive, and Dad will come back."
"Ah! Really?!" Xiaoxiao exclaimed in surprise, "Dad will come back as soon as the tadpole turns into a frog?"
“Yes!” Xu Wan said, seizing the opportunity, “So you have to take good care of the tadpoles.”
Xiao Xiao has never owned a pet before.
She looked down at the tadpoles in the small fish tank with a delighted expression. "So, what do the tadpoles eat?"
Jiang Tingzhou said, "Tadpoles usually eat algae in the water. If you keep them at home, they can just eat some breadcrumbs."
"Okay!" Xiaoxiao nodded seriously.
Xu Wan asked, "Should we give the tadpoles a name?"
"good!"
Xiaoxiao agreed.
But she was too young and had no idea how to name the animals.
I mentioned a few names; they were all classmates from kindergarten.
Xu Wan had no choice but to help her: "Pets can't be called by human names. Since you're most looking forward to June 1st, how about we name these two tadpoles Liu Liu and Yi Yi? Okay?"
Xiao Xiao held the small fish tank and said, "Liu Liu, Yi Yi, you two have to grow up quickly!"
This can be considered tacit approval of the name.
Xu Pingrong also went downstairs.
Since Xiaoxiao also needed to see Jiang Tingzhou off, Xu Pingrong took the small fish tank upstairs first.
On the way to the airport, Xiaoxiao sat in Jiang Tingzhou's lap the whole time.
When they arrived at the administration building, Jiang Tingzhou had to go through security and board the plane before Xiaoxiao got out of his arms.
The child didn't cry at all throughout the entire journey.
Xu Wan thought Xiao Xiao really had two little ones to rely on, until the two of them got back into the car...
Before the car door was even closed, Xiaoxiao threw herself into Xu Wan's arms and burst into tears.
The driver didn't dare to drive when he saw this.
Xiao Xiao cried for about seven or eight minutes before she gradually calmed down.
Seeing her crying so hard, Xu Wan asked, "Dad's plane shouldn't have taken off yet, how about... I give him a video call? Or you can call him yourself?"
Xiao Xiao's eyes were swollen from crying.
She wiped away her tears, shaking her head vigorously like a rattle-drum. After sniffling several times, she finally said, "No, I'm afraid Dad will worry about me, that's why I don't dare to cry."
