Chapter 8 Grandson-in-law

Afraid of upsetting her grandmother, Xu Wan quickly sat down beside her and said gently, "Grandma, Jiang Tingzhou and I have known each other for a long time. Getting our marriage certificate wasn't an impulsive decision. I genuinely believe he is someone I can entrust my life to."

"Grandma believes in you." Liu Yingjun took Xu Wan's hand and patted it several times. "Although you didn't grow up by Grandma's side, Grandma knows you very well and believes that the man you chose must be a good person."

Xu Wan dared not mention that Xu Jiashan had accepted the betrothal gifts from the Liu family.

I was afraid of upsetting my grandmother.

Jiang Tingzhou also said, "Don't worry, I will definitely treat Wanwan well."

"At this age, my biggest worry is Wanwan. I'm afraid that after I'm gone, she'll be all alone and helpless, with no one even remembering her birthday. Now I can finally rest easy. Even if I die tomorrow, I won't be afraid."

As Liu Yingjun spoke, tears welled up in her eyes.

"Pah, pah, pah!" Xu Wan quickly stopped her. "Grandma, don't talk nonsense. You will definitely live to be a hundred years old. When I get pregnant and have a baby, I will bring the baby to see you every weekend."

"Okay, Grandma will wait for that day."

Liu Yingjun knew she might not live to see that day.

She was happy that Xu Wan had this intention.

The three chatted for a while before heading out to the restaurant.

The restaurant was a members-only establishment chosen by Jiang Tingzhou, with a secret address, so ordinary people couldn't come even if they paid money.

Jiang Tingzhou chose this restaurant because he was very familiar with the owner.

The menus here are all handwritten by the owner.

When the three arrived at the restaurant, the owner had already rewritten the menu according to Jiang Tingzhou's request. The dishes on this menu were the same as the other menus, but the prices were about one-tenth of the other menus.

"The decor here is so nice, I thought the food would be expensive, but the prices are actually quite reasonable."

Xu Wan was a little nervous when she saw the menu, but she felt relieved after reading it.

At the waiter's suggestion, the three of them ordered four dishes and a pot of Pu'er tea.

The dishes were served quickly.

One of the dishes was boiled beef.

Xu Wan picked up a piece of meat and put it in her mouth, exclaiming, "How do they prepare the meat for this boiled beef? It's so tender!"

"They use the kind of fatty beef used for hot pot, so it has to be tender," Jiang Tingzhou explained.

The waiter who was serving the food listened with tears welling up in his eyes.

The beef they use is clearly imported A5 grade marbled beef, how can it be compared to the beef from ordinary hot pot restaurants?

The meal was finished quickly.

When it came time to pay the bill, Jiang Tingzhou was about to pay, but Liu Yingjun's words, "If you pay today, I won't acknowledge you as my grandson-in-law anymore," scared him back.

Liu Yingjun paid in cash, giving out 300 yuan, and the cashier gave her back 30-odd yuan in change.

Looking at the lavish decor, Xu Wan couldn't help but sigh, "They charge such low prices, but business doesn't seem to be doing very well. Aren't they losing money?"

Jiang Tingzhou reached out and gently put his arm around the woman. "We ordinary people shouldn't think about the capitalists' business."

“That’s true.” Xu Wan wholeheartedly agreed with this statement. “Only a fool would sympathize with capitalists.”

Jiang Tingzhou frowned.

He felt like he had dug a hole for himself.

There is a river outside the restaurant. After the sun sets in the evening, the afterglow of the sunset dyes the river surface into a plate of scattered gold, and the temperature is not as hot as during the day.

Liu Yingjun said she wanted to take a walk along the river.

The three of them had only walked a few meters when a taxi stopped in front of them.

The driver got out of the car and ran over to greet them: "Grandma Liu, Wanmei, what a coincidence to meet you here! Where are you going? Let me give you a ride."

Xu Wan frowned.

The person who came was actually Liu Xing!

"No need. Wanwan, my grandson-in-law, and I will just take a walk. He's driving and will take us home in a bit."

Liu Yingjun specifically said "grandson-in-law" twice.

Liu Xing then looked up and sized up Jiang Tingzhou, his lips twitched slightly, and he said to Xu Wan with a fake smile, "Wanmei, come here, I have a few words to say to you."

"What's there to talk about with you?" Xu Wan didn't want to talk to her.

"I just want to ask a few questions, just a minute or two." Liu Xing glanced at Liu Yingjun. "If you don't mind, I can ask them here."
