Chapter 4 A Strict Mentorship Team

"Now that everyone has assessed themselves, it's time for our assessment to begin," Can'er said gently.

"Now, please invite contestants number 5 to 8 to come down from the stage and prepare."

"Teacher Can'er, how could you say such cruel words in the gentlest tone!"

Contestants number 5 through 8 let out a wail. They thought the ranking would be from bottom to top as in previous years, but who would have thought it would be the other way around?

[My gentle goddess, Can'er! Come into my arms!]

[Yachi, you're so handsome! Mommy loves you!]

...

[Hey you guys, put on some pants and watch the show!]

This little show is getting better and better at causing trouble; look how scared those kids were.

[I feel great, this way I can see that girl's performance on the sofa sooner... those long legs~ wow~]

[Upstairs, I'm almost embarrassed to call you out, but you're clearly just lusting after her, not wanting to see her perform!]

To be honest... I'm craving it too!

[Hello! 110? I'd like to report a pervert here!]

...

Despite their pained expressions, rules are rules, and trainees numbered 5 through 8 went on stage to perform.

They were either alone or in small groups of two, singing songs or performing hot dances, which drew screams from the audience.

But the mentors frowned, their expressions clearly not good.

"Are you satisfied with your performance just now?" Fu Yachi picked up the microphone and looked at the four trainees on the stage with a blank expression.

The group of people, who had been all smiles just moments before, froze instantly.

Wow! This episode was way too strict! Look how scared the kids were!

This is normal. After all, they're backed by a big company like Yanfeng Entertainment. If they weren't strict, they might select a few mediocre talents to debut, which would ultimately be an eyesore for us viewers.

...

"No...no." Girl number 6 shook her head, her voice trembling slightly.

"Then why did you give yourself an A, and even get into the top 6 of the debut lineup? Just for fun? Just want to experience it early?" Ya Chi looked at her, holding the documents in her hand:

"You and number 7 are a duo, but your dance moves were very uncoordinated and messy just now. Yet the information says you've been practicing together for two years?"

"Please tell me why this is still happening after two years of trying to get along?"

"Teacher Fu... I... please give me another chance. I've also prepared a solo performance, and I'm sure I can do it well!"

Girl number 6 spoke loudly, and girl number 7 next to her was obviously stunned for a moment. She hadn't been told before the competition that she had to prepare a solo performance!

Besides, this dance has been performed many times, how could it be messed up! Unless she deliberately made a mistake...

Ya Chi was somewhat amused and handed the documents to Meng Shuangcheng next to her.

They weren't just standing around watching from backstage; they had already figured out the situation of each group of trainees.

"Teachers, please give me a chance, I..."

"Number 6, rating F." The notoriously short-tempered Shuangcheng interrupted her abruptly, turning to look at the trainees in the seats behind her.

"Listen up, all of you! We're not playing along. If your group wants a solo performance, you'd better put on a good show for the first time!"

"We're selecting a girl group, not solo idols. If you can't accept those self-centered types, pack your things and leave!"

"Hmm..." Girl No. 6 lowered her head, pursed her lips, and her big eyes were red.

The girl in number 7 couldn't say a word. She felt like she had been a clown for spending two years with him.

After the training was almost over, Can'er stepped in as a peacemaker: "Maybe it's because you're the first one to perform on stage, so you're probably a little nervous."

"But that's the rule, that's the entertainment industry. We can't always be ready to go on stage, so please keep going!"

Following the initial negative feedback, all the girls who had rated themselves as A were downgraded to F.

This also allowed the trainees who didn't get to participate to witness the cruelty of the competition.

"Contestants number 1-4, please step down and prepare."

Upon hearing mentor Yao Ying's voice, Yu Jianing calmly walked off the stage. Perhaps because the group performance was scheduled before the individual performance, she was the last to appear.

Groups 2-4 are a trio, and girl number 2 is the one who gave Jia Ning the weird-flavored candy backstage.

"Song Xitong?" Shuangcheng looked at Gu Xin while holding the information of contestant number 2:

"She's kind of your cousin, right? Don't go easy on her during the evaluation later!"

"Don't worry, my wife told me before we came that I promise I'll keep a very strict eye on her."

Gu Xin chuckled strangely, while Yao Ying, standing nearby, couldn't help but break out in a cold sweat for this contestant.

"Having relatives like these must have blown up the galaxy in your past life..."

The trio's performance had already begun, and Yu Jianing quietly watched Song Xitong's dance moves backstage.

It wasn't that she had to pay attention to her; it was just that among the three, her skills were the best.

"Her movements are pretty standard, but her lower limbs are a bit weak... I can give her some pointers when I have the chance, since she just borrowed my clothes~"

Jia Ning said with a smile, while the jelly ball lying on her shoulder was sweating profusely: "Ning Ning, is your training serious? We can't repay kindness with enmity!"

...

After the performance, the three girls stood in the middle of the stage, slightly out of breath.

Ya Chi was the first to pick up the microphone and comment: "They have some A-level qualities, but not everyone."

"Number 2, you perform a high note for me alone."

Song Xitong nodded, and her teammates stepped back to make room for her.

She sang a cappella, and her voice was beautiful, with its own unique sweetness, but it didn't feel cloying.

"Okay, that's enough." Gu Xin gestured for her to stop and commented very objectively, "The high notes are good, but they're still not impactful enough."

"You have your own style, which is not bad. You can barely get an A here."

"Thank you, teacher!" Xi Tong bowed in thanks, and Meng Shuangcheng continued:

"Among your group, your dance moves are relatively standard, but you lack lower body strength and your kicks lack explosiveness. I suggest you practice more in the future."

After all the fair reviews were completed, Song Xitong's rating remained unchanged at A.

Her teammates were all demoted to B, which was quite a concession.

In an instant, the debut chairs that were originally packed with people were now empty except for Song Xitong.

"I hope that the contestants who perform next will meet Song Xitong's standards."

Ya Chi looked at everyone and said, "You must have outstanding vocals, dance, and rap skills, but the others shouldn't be too bad and lose points."

"Remember, this is just the passing standard, not the upper limit!"

"Alright, now please welcome contestant number 1 to the stage for their performance!"
