Extra Chapter N: If there is no water-soluble

"Hello ma'am, what would you like...?"

The young waitress stared at the woman in front of her, suddenly stunned. Her sickly pale skin and shoulder-length short hair seemed familiar, as if she had seen her somewhere before.

"Waiting for someone."

A small card appeared in her hand, with two words printed on it, simply and directly expressing her meaning.

"Oh, okay, just let me know if you need anything."

After watching the waiter leave, Wen Jueqian put away the playing card, leaned back in his chair, and stared blankly out the window.

The last time I communicated with someone in this way was when I was in a girl group.

Back then, we called it Morning Star...

"Sorry to keep you waiting, I just finished surgery."

A familiar voice came from behind, and a woman wearing a loose coat, whose hair looked flattened by something, pulled out the chair next to her.

A deep weariness lingered in her eyes, and although her slightly larger mouth was smiling, it seemed different from what it used to be.

"When did you return to China?" Chu Moyan poured herself a glass of water and looked at the short-haired woman in front of her.

"yesterday."

It was still a simple two-character tile. This familiar scene suddenly evoked someone's memory. The woman drinking water subconsciously grabbed her hand: "Your tile... I'm sorry."

Chu Moyan withdrew her hand without incident, while Wen Jueqian quietly stared at her wrist, which had been pinched red.

"I'm sorry... I just..."

“You’ve apologized three times since you came in.” Wen Jueqian said, his voice slightly hoarse, as he looked at her.

Chu Moyan scratched her head to hide her embarrassment: "Haha, I'm used to it. Doctors, you can't always avoid that word."

Neither of them spoke again after that, and they just sat quietly.

A decade or so ago, the word "quiet" would have been a distant memory if she were around.

Wen Jue smoothed his hair and inadvertently caught a glimpse of a slender figure entering from outside. She had curly hair and was wearing high heels.

"Boss." The woman who had rushed in earlier greeted her. She turned to respond, but then saw two people sitting by the window.

"Chu...Moyan? Wen...Jueqian?"

"Long time no see, Song Xitong." Chu Moyan smiled, and said with a hint of surprise, "This is your business?"

"Mmm." Song Xitong responded, then said something to the waiter beside her, and walked over.

Looking at her, Wen Jueqian narrowed her eyes slightly. She looked like that person...

Have you ordered yet?

"Not yet, aren't we waiting for your recommendation, boss?"

"OK…"

Song Xitong didn't say anything more. Anyway, she had already instructed them to bring out all the restaurant's signature dishes.

"By the way, how long has it been since we last met?" The silence between the two of them was already awkward, let alone the three of them now. Chu Moyan forced a conversation.

"It's been more than ten years, hasn't it?"

“17 years.” Wen Jueqian held up a small sign. Song Xitong recalled for a moment, then smiled as if she had thought of something, suppressing the bitterness in her heart.

The restaurant food was served quickly, and the waiter brought Song Xitong a bottle of decanted red wine.

The latter poured three glasses and handed them to the two of them.

"Um?"

Song Xitong swayed gently, her eyes flashing with a captivating charm for a fleeting moment, but it vanished without a trace.

"For...our reunion?"

"cheers."

The best friends reunited, and though they had so much to say, the three of them ate in silence.

However, they drank quite a bit of alcohol, and even Chu Moyan, who was careful about her drinking, was a little drunk.

"Tell me... why did we do this?" She rubbed her hair, her eyes red-rimmed, and Wen Jueqian pushed a napkin towards her.

Song Xitong leaned back in her chair with her arms crossed, the earrings hanging from her earlobes gleaming in the light.

"If there's no water-soluble..." Chu Moyan babbled in her drunken state, but the last two words brought her back to her senses.

"I'm sorry..." She covered her face, hiding herself under her hands, but some pain cannot be hidden, like grains of sand in the wind, which will blind people with the slightest movement.

“Yes, if it weren’t for water-soluble substances.” Song Xitong’s voice rose a little: “Right now, I might be listening to a drunkard spouting grand theories in my ear. I might not be running these restaurants. I might still be on stage.”

“But there are no ‘ifs’ in life.” Wen Jueqian spoke for the second time, his words piercing to the heart, but it was indeed the truth.

"hehe……"

Song Xitong shook her head, then poured herself another glass of wine, while the other two silently followed suit.

They didn't know how long they drank that night, only that they felt very dizzy the next day, and when they opened their eyes again, they seemed to see an old friend.

"bitter…"

A voice she could never forget. Song Xitong stared at the person in front of her, completely stunned, sitting in her chair.

Her gaze seemed too intense, and Yu Jianing turned around to meet... three faces weeping bitterly?

"Are you sick?" Yu Jianing, who had just transmigrated, was completely bewildered. Ignoring their attempt to study the so-called system, the three of them suddenly pounced on her!

"Yu Jianing!"

"Damn it!" Someone was tackled to the chair and raised his foot to kick, but then several other people appeared out of nowhere and joined in the frenzied attack on the woman.

"Am I dreaming?" Bai Puti hugged Yu Jianing's leg with a silly look, while Shen Fuyao, who was hugging the other leg opposite her, blinked.

Jiang Lianyin and An Wanhe had nowhere to hug, so they quickly used the two of their legs, which were spread apart, to hug each other's waists.

"Are you crazy?! Let me go!"

Yu Jianing lost her temper, and the other contestants at the talent show were completely stunned!

Is this... a publicity stunt?

Is it still a field battle? When did "Rush to the End" become so unrestrained?

"Hey! What's wrong with those contestants? Stop fooling around!" The staff pulled the agitated group apart, and Yu Jianing slumped in her chair, looking like she'd been played with and ruined.
