Chapter 11
"Uncle, where's my stretcher?"
As soon as he entered the house, Xingxing held up a toy ambulance, indicating that his ambulance could be opened and that the stretcher inside was missing.
Huo Junyan glanced at it and said, "I don't know."
He went straight into the living room, turned on the lights, and sat on the sofa, acting like the host.
Xingxing held the toy car, her little face puffed out, her lips pursed tightly, and her round eyes staring at Huo Junyan.
Shen Que placed the tea and snacks on the coffee table in the living room. "Xingxing, are you hungry? But you can only eat mung bean soup."
Seeing that her uncle wasn't going to hand over the stretcher, Xingxing quietly turned her face away. "I ate my fill at Grandpa's house." She licked her little lips and said, "Mommy, can I have an iced Coke? It's a little hot."
"No, after you've eaten, I'll take you to bathe and put you to bed."
When Shen Que came out of the shower with Xingxing, the tea and snacks on the coffee table had been completely eaten.
"Do you have tea? Osmanthus rice cake goes well with yellow tea, Silver Needle tea is the best." Huo Junyan wiped his mouth, speaking shamelessly.
Shen Que opened her eyes wide. "Look for it yourself. I'll put my son to sleep first." She stared at the empty tea and snack box for several moments.
I slammed my son's bedroom door shut, gritting my teeth! Ugh! So much regret!
"Mommy, Uncle said 'I don't know'."
Still debating the stretcher in the toy ambulance.
Shen Que hugged his son and comforted him, "He might have fallen out, and his uncle didn't notice."
After coaxing her for a while, I took out a storybook and read a passage to Xingxing. Her stomach was growling with hunger. "You go to sleep, Mommy is a little hungry and needs to go out to eat."
Xingxing closed her eyes, and Chen Que pushed the toys on the ground aside and checked her son's schoolbag.
Damn it, the rice cake I wanted most was eaten by that jerk.
What else is in the refrigerator?
Steak is fine, but I don't like pan-fried steak. Lamb chops, grilled would be better. And some pasta with chocolate pudding...
A buzzing sound came from outside. Impatient, was it going to tear the house apart?!
The door opened, and a meaty aroma wafted in. Shen Que carefully closed her son's room. The kitchen was open-plan, and Huo Junyan stood in the kitchen with his back to her.
Broad shoulders, narrow waist, and legs that reach past the combing table.
Hearing the noise, he turned around, still holding an egg beater in his hand, the cuffs of his black shirt rolled up to his elbows, revealing lean and well-proportioned muscle lines.
Shen Que didn't go over; she shifted her gaze from his forearm and leaned back on the sofa.
Huo Junyan curled his lips, turned around and fried the eggs, cut the steak into pieces, arranged them on a plate, and skillfully opened the refrigerator and took out an iced cola.
Shen Que got up, sat down at the table, took a bite, and his eyes lit up. The steak was crispy on the outside and tender on the inside, and the soft-boiled egg was just right.
Huo Junyan looked at her quietly.
He doesn't eat cheese, so he deliberately placed the steak with cheese closest to her, while she took the one further away, but her taste remained the same.
Shen Que finished his meal quietly, took a sip of iced cola, and was completely satisfied.
"I didn't expect Mr. Huo to be such a good cook."
I don't drink any beverage while eating, and I don't eat any food after drinking any beverage; my habits haven't changed.
What is he still doubting?
She is Chu Ci.
Even without considering her lifestyle, the way she looked at him just now was exactly how she looked at him five years ago.
Provocation tinged with satisfaction.
"What are your conditions? Tell me."
Huo Junyan snapped out of his thoughts and glanced at the empty plates. "What else would you like to eat?"
Shen Que felt a little embarrassed. Although he hadn't wolfed down his food, he hadn't exactly been polite or elegant either.
"Who told you to eat my tea and snacks?"
He saw her staring at the snacks but not wanting to talk to him, so he pretended to take the child to take a bath and deliberately finished eating them.
Why are you back so late?
Shen Que raised her eyes and looked at him for a while. The more she looked at his face, the more confused she became. She blinked and pulled herself together. "If you keep treating me like Chu Ci, we can't do business."
"I want a one-time buyout. I want your software source code, core technology, and patent transfer."
Huo Junyan leaned back and crossed his legs.
In psychology, this posture signifies a sense of certainty and impending victory.
After finishing his cola, Shen Que said, "Goodbye."
"Name your price." He tapped the table lightly with his fingertips.
"One hundred million."
Huo Junyan stood up, picked up his coat from the sofa, and scoffed lightly. Although she was asking for an exorbitant price and inflating it by more than a hundred times.
But, who told him to pretend?
But then he took out his phone from his inside suit pocket, dialed a number, and said, "Prepare one hundred million, transfer it."
Shen Que slid over, snatched the phone from his hand, and knocked him down onto the sofa. The call was still on screen. "...Mr. Huo? Sorry, I didn't hear you clearly. Which account was the money transferred to?"
She hung up immediately and tossed the phone back to him.
Huo Junyan sat up, rubbing his ribs. The phone rang again. He looked at her with his phone in hand: ?
“This is a large sum of money. Let me plan it out, and I'll give you the account number tomorrow.” Shen Que sat on the single sofa to his left, with his legs together, hands on his lap, leaning forward, and a dignified and polite smile.
LOL, a hundred million? Only a fool wouldn't take that.
She is a senior technical staff member at Zhou's company. Her share of the software commission is about 600,000 yuan, but she will only receive it after the project goes live.
They could sell it to two other bidding companies, with a maximum price of one million and a minimum price of being copied.
Now that you have 100 million, why not make it?
Huo Junyan glanced at her sideways and answered the phone, "Let me plan it out."
Shen Que quietly grinned.
"It's a pleasure to work with you." Huo Junyan extended his hand.
Shen Que grasped his hand. "Can we keep our cooperation a secret for now?"
"Don't worry, I guarantee that Zhou Yubai will remain in the dark until the product hits the market."
Shen Que rolled her eyes slightly. She really knows how to talk.
“Oh, by the way, our company’s technical department also tested a few software programs a couple of days ago. They’re immature and unstable. If you need them, I can provide them to you to fool them,” Huo Junyan leaned forward slightly, “for free.”
He even gently stroked the back of her hand with his fingertips.
“No need, I have one.” Shen Que withdrew his hand.
He scratched the back of his hand.
"So you've had ulterior motives all along."
Shen Que raised an eyebrow and smiled charmingly, "I have a lot of this kind of programming; it's just a matter of modifying a few lines of code."
"Oh~ You dare to sell it for a hundred million with just a few lines of code?"
Shen Que bit his tongue. "Before Facebook became a global social media platform, it was just a string of code. If you buy my software and operate it well, you can be the next Zuckerberg."
One hundred million is a deal we can't afford to break down.
Huo Junyan's lips twitched.
"Then it's settled. I'll contact you first thing tomorrow morning." Shen Que stood up, not giving him a chance to back out.
Huo Junyan looked up at her for a while, then stood up, slowly put on his coat, and the vertical lamp behind him cast a huge shadow, completely enveloping her.
Shen Que greeted the client with professional enthusiasm and saw them to the door, even pressing the elevator button for them.
He suddenly asked, "Aren't you angry about what happened at the hospital?"
"No, I'm sick and I don't want to be bothered by others, besides, you saved my son,"
He interrupted her, "You waited at the company for two days, aren't you angry?"
"Of course, a client like you deserves my repeated visits,"
Before she could finish speaking, he entered the elevator, pressed the close button, his eyes were cold and stern, his thin lips were pressed into a line, and he turned his face away the moment his eyes met hers.
The elevator doors closed, and Shen Que made a small face. "One hundred million."
I went home in a good mood, but then it suddenly dawned on me why he was angry.
So what?
Even though she was Chu Ci, she didn't remember what had happened between them.
Anger that is only associated with lovers does not fit their current relationship.
Chen didn't dwell on it and went to sleep peacefully.
The next morning, Shen Que first called Huo Zixi, and after dropping Xingxing off at kindergarten, he went to see him.
"Your bank card."
He got into the passenger seat and handed her the bank card.
It was a rather old bank card. Shen Que looked at Huo Zixi with suspicion.
She called in the morning, hoping that Huo Zixi would open a bank account using his identity and put the money in his name.
"Chu Ci?" She suddenly realized that these were Chu Ci's "relics." Wasn't it said that Huo Junyan had destroyed all of Chu Ci's belongings?
He's kept it all this time?
Huo Zixi stretched and said, "The money is already on the card. No one can track any usage records for this card, so you can use it with peace of mind."
Shen Que's pupils dilated, and a chill ran down his spine.
She doesn't like being spied on.
"Why do you smell so strongly of alcohol?" Shen Que abruptly changed the subject.
Huo Zixi tilted his head and frowned, then sighed helplessly, "I forgot. ...Heh, this is still your idea to reassure my brothers, sisters, uncles and aunts."
Five or six years ago, a technology company under the Huo Group was about to launch a brand new shopping app. However, similar apps were launched on the market at almost the same time. They were just unprofessional in their databases and mixed in with the real ones. The general public did not distinguish between them carefully and were repeatedly deceived.
Suing these small companies for plagiarism would be extremely costly, and issuing a statement failed to attract the attention of ordinary people. At that time, it seemed that there were only two options left: either invest heavily in advertising or take the software offline to cut losses in time.
Just then, Chu Ci pulled Huo Zixi to launch a shopping app that was almost a direct copy of Huo's software.
Upon receiving the lawyer's letter from the Huo family, the software immediately issued an apology via a pop-up window, declaring that the software was pirated. This instantly sparked a huge online discussion and finally caught the attention of the Huo family's top management.
This move promoted Huo Family Software, cracked down on piracy, saved costs, and brought Huo Zixi to the forefront of the Huo family.
Achieving multiple goals at once.
This method was later imitated and used.
Huo Zixi received personal approval from the Huo family patriarch, but this also aroused the jealousy and suppression of his other siblings and uncles.
He had no connections; his father was a useless son of the Huo family and didn't care about him at all, leaving him in a dilemma.
"You told me to keep a low profile back then, and I've been doing so ever since," Huo Zixi said with a self-deprecating laugh.
In recent years, Huo Junyan gave him opportunities, but unfortunately he was not a prodigy. He was raised without any training and was no match for his brothers and sisters.
If it weren't for Huo Junyan's constant protection, he probably would have only been a one-time member of the Huo family.
Shen Que relaxed and smiled, "I have something else I'd like to ask you for help with."
She handed over a business card, which Huo Zixi accepted. "Neurology, Lu Wanzhen... Haven't you had any treatment for your amnesia all these years?"
Shen knew that Huo Zixi would tell Huo Junyan that she had actually wanted to speak up last night, but for some reason, she just couldn't bring herself to say it.
She was nowhere near as relaxed around him as she was around Huo Zixi.
“I’ve been receiving treatment since I was rescued,” she said, just wanting to confirm one thing that needed to be done away from the Zhou family’s sight, “You make an appointment for me, in your name.”
