Chapter 45
Chu Ci added, "Asking in front of you."
She didn't care about Old Master Huo's or anyone else's opinion. She pushed open the wooden-framed glass door, looked down at Huo Chengxun with disdain, and spoke in a voice as cold as the rain outside.
"Did you lay a hand on Junyan yourself, or was someone instructing you?"
This is a trap.
After asking the question, Chu Ci slightly turned his head and looked back.
Huo Chengxun was shocked and didn't know what they had just said inside. He subconsciously looked at Old Master Huo, and everyone in the room saw his expression and gaze clearly.
Huo Chaojiang and his wife, along with Huo Qiyu, could no longer control themselves and pounced on Huo Chengxun, tearing at him.
The two sides wrestled together.
This is Old Master Huo's courtyard. No one is allowed to enter without the owner's permission.
Chu Ci stood under the corridor, slowly turned around, and saw Old Master Huo clutching his chest and falling down. Master Qin was holding Old Master Huo, calling out something, but she could no longer hear him.
"Did you see that?" she asked softly.
Huo Chaojiang twisted Huo Chengxun, while Meng Huizhou and her daughter tugged at his collar and hair, staring blankly upwards.
Chu Ci gestured behind her, and seeing Huo Chaojiang hesitate, she quickly spoke up, "Huo Chengxun, if he falls, no one will protect you anymore. Aren't you going to tell me?"
Huo Chengxun spat out a mouthful of foam and suddenly burst into maniacal laughter, "You were the one in the car with Junyan at the time, so why didn't you do it?"
Even if it means death, this matter must not be admitted.
“We didn’t know that Junyan had signed such an agreement with you, but you knew that his property belonged to you, but he didn’t say that he would hand over the Huo Group to you. He only gave you money, not power. You are such an ambitious woman, you naturally want more than just money.”
Huo Chaojiang and Huo Qiyu looked at Chu Ci, their eyes filled with suspicion.
The Chu Ci (Songs of Chu) offered no explanation for Huo's argument, allowing him to continue.
"You yourself said that you encouraged Junyan to attack us, but he didn't listen to you. After the accident, it wouldn't be difficult for you to do something on the side."
It must be said that Huo Chengxun's quick wit under such circumstances shows that he was not entirely useless.
Chu Ci glanced around the room, casually picking out something that suited her. "That's right. Anyway, I don't have any evidence to prove that you did it, and I can't clear myself of any wrongdoing."
She picked out a pair of golf clubs.
Huo Chengxun struggled, and Huo Qiyu was kicked in the leg, causing her to stumble forward and hit her knee on the step. Meng Huizhou subconsciously let go of her hand to help his daughter.
In that instant, Chu Ci raised a golf club and smashed it down on the back of Huo Chengxun's neck.
He groaned and fell to the ground, screaming in pain.
Chu Ci swayed as he supported himself with the cue stick, his stamina failing and his hands weak. Even after hitting the ball, he could still cry out.
This is not up to her standard.
The others froze instantly. Huo Chaojiang hesitated for a moment, then turned around and went inside to take care of Old Master Huo with Master Qin.
He tried to call a doctor, but Old Huo grabbed his wrist and coughed, "Don't let outsiders in."
Chu Ci closed his eyes, gathered his breath, gripped the golf clubs with both hands, and hit Huo Chengxun with one shot after another.
Old Huo's cough and wheezing worsened. He pointed outside with his withered fingers, wanting to stop them but powerless to do so.
Qin Ye couldn't stand it any longer and took a few steps over, but was stopped by Meng Huizhou.
One stood on the steps, the other in the rain, silently confronting each other.
Qin finally lowered his head. He wasn't afraid of Meng Huizhou, but he was heartbroken for a mother who had lost her child, and even more heartbroken for Junyan.
He secretly wondered if it was because Junyan had suppressed the power that Huo had left for Huo Chengxun that Huo had become wary, which was why he tacitly allowed Huo Chengxun to take action.
Chu Ci struck down with the stick, her body went limp, and she collapsed to the ground. Meng Huizhou quickly caught her.
Their eyes met briefly before looking away.
Huo Chengxun was in so much pain that he was convulsing, but he was still saying that Chu Ci was behind it.
She twitched the corner of her lips. "This is easy to solve."
He stood up, leaning on his golf club, and said, "I'll kill you."
"You, you," Huo Chengxun said with all his might, pointing a finger at Chu Ci, "This is China, murder is a crime."
Meng Huizhou's eyes widened in fury as she lunged forward and grabbed his collar, demanding, "So you attacked my son abroad?"
Chu Ci gently pressed down on her trembling shoulders, and Huo Qiyu helped her mother up.
“Of course, a life for a life is a matter of course,” Chu Ci laughed innocently yet cruelly. “Anyway, neither of us can produce any evidence, so I’ll kill you, then I’ll get shot, and we’ll both be dead. The truth won’t matter anymore.”
Huo Chengxun's eyes widened inch by inch, "You, a madman, a madman..."
“Auntie, I’m entrusting Xingxing to you,” she said, looking at Meng Huizhou, clearly feeling the strength draining from her body, barely able to speak a word without gasping for breath. “He loves iced cola, but he can only have it occasionally… and also, he’s allergic to osmanthus rice cake…”
Meng Huizhou's face was covered in tears, while Huo Qiyu suppressed her sobs.
Chu Ci smiled wryly, disliking endless chatter. "Xingxing is your grandson, you will definitely take good care of him, I am very relieved."
She said no more, turned her face away, and looked down at Huo Chengxun as if he were a dead man.
Holding a golf club in both hands, he aimed at Huo Chengxun's head, trying to find the right spot. Huo Chengxun cried out for help and begged for mercy. Master Qin tried to step forward, but Meng Huizhou blocked him every time.
He knew that profound truths were like knives that could wound people at this moment, so he kept quiet.
She secretly hoped that it would be a good thing if Huo Chengxun could tell the truth at this time.
Huo Chengxun's last words were, "Grandpa, save me."
Huo Chaojiang tried to stop him, but as soon as he turned around, Old Master Huo, in his haste, jumped off the daybed. He had no choice but to turn back and pick up his father.
"Huo Chengxun, go to hell!"
The stick of Chu Ci did not fall; her voice was drowned out by two other voices.
“I said.”
"He's not dead."
Chu Ci's cue slowly landed on his nose as he looked up at Lan Ni, who had rushed in.
Qin Ye was outside and was the first to see it. He was shocked, but then he saw Chu Ci and Meng Huizhou exchange glances and instantly realized that Lan Ni must have been brought in by Meng Huizhou's people.
She probably reached some kind of consensus with the Chu Ci (Songs of Chu).
Master Qin quietly stepped back a few steps and whispered to the bodyguards standing in the shadows to thoroughly search the old house and make sure there were no more people they didn't know hiding there.
Upon hearing the sound, Old Huo struggled to sit up.
Huo Chaojiang strode out, ignoring Lanni and the mess in the family, "What did you say? My son isn't dead! Where is my son?"
"Where is my son? Tell me."
"It was you? My brother is in your hands. Tell me, tell me now."
The Huo family of three didn't care about etiquette or manners; they grabbed Lanni's arm and interrogated her.
If before they were simply unwilling to accept reality and clung to an impossible hope, now they completely believe that Huo Junyan is still alive.
Lani stared at Chu Ci.
The two sides are deadlocked.
Lani shook off the three people pulling at her, holding up her phone, "With just one word from me, Huo Junyan will die immediately."
"No, no, no, no..." Meng Huizhou's voice was pleading towards the end. Huo Chaojiang quickly pulled his wife into his arms and gestured to her with his eyes to calm her down.
Just as Chu Ci was about to put down her cue, Huo Qiyu suddenly grabbed her wrist. "You can't put it down. Junyan is still in her hands. Let's switch."
The next sentence was said to Lani.
Unexpectedly, Lani burst out laughing upon hearing this. After she had finished laughing, she spoke, but what she said made everyone feel as if they had fallen into an ice cave.
"Miss Huo, how can you be so naive?"
Lani gently wiped the raindrops from her face, her posture elegant, but her voice cruel, "Who is Huo Junyan? Your brother, your husband, the father of your son, your only son, and the heir of the Huo family. And him?"
The orchid pointed casually at Huo Chengxun, full of charm.
“He’s just my boyfriend,” she glanced into the room, “one of them. How do we switch?”
No wonder she's a woman who managed to navigate between Old Master Huo and Huo Chengxun for thirty years.
Chu Ci removed the golf club from Huo Chengxun's face, leaned on it, and went up the steps. She had already started to shiver, and her mind was becoming increasingly muddled.
The pain in my back has subsided; it feels numb.
Lani was absolutely right; she understood in an instant. A thought flashed through her mind: Huo Qiyu clearly had no ill intentions; to make a deal with a villain, one needed sufficient leverage.
The deadly cue stick hanging overhead was removed, and Huo Chengxun gasped for breath, but he didn't have the strength to stand up.
Lani quickly helped him sit up.
Huo Chengxun looked up, his bruised and swollen face breaking into a strange smile.
"Let's go to the hospital." Lani wanted to leave.
"I can't leave, where is my son?"
Lani sneered, "I said, if you want to trade, bring enough chips."
"Transfer the chip technology to me." Huo Chengxun reached out his hand.
"Yes," Chu Ci replied without hesitation.
He stood up with a smile, but couldn't stand up. He clutched his ribs and gasped for breath. He glanced at Lani, who understood and took out her phone to ask her to sign the agreement remotely.
Chu Ci remained expressionless; for a software expert, this was merely a basic skill.
The three members of the Huo family were anxious. They hadn't even seen Junyan yet. If they gave everything to them, what would they exchange it for? All the shares?
Change.
The couple understood each other's feelings with just a glance; as long as Junyan could come back, they would not fight for the group.
Then they looked at Chu Ci with complicated expressions. They had their doubts about Chu Ci, after all, Junyan's marriage agreement was to leave her a business empire, and who would be willing to give it up so easily?
She didn't hesitate at all just now.
Huo Chengxun laughed loudly as he saw the chip technology in his hands. "Light Speed, oh no, you've already sold Light Speed. Fine, I'll figure it out myself. Give me all the shares of Xinke, Beiji, and Tianqi. No, give me all the shares you have."
"Chengxun, is Junyan really in your hands? Release him now, or you'll make another mistake." Master Qin walked down the steps.
"Second Uncle, all of this should have been mine."
He gestured to Lani, who then turned on her phone's video call. Everyone gasped in shock.
Huo Junyan was seen tied to a chair with his eyes closed, wearing some kind of device on his head. The marks on his wrists and neck were very obvious, indicating that he had struggled violently.
