Chapter 36 Rainbow Candy (Zhu Wan x Fang Qibai)

Chapter 36 Rainbow Candy (Zhu Wan x Fang Qibai)

Zhu Fan arrived at the classroom at 14:13.

The classroom wasn't quiet, but it wasn't too noisy either.

The teacher hadn't arrived yet, so the teaching assistant was at the podium preparing for the class.

Zhu Fan breathed a sigh of relief, then suddenly remembered Fang Qizhou's words that he wouldn't let her be late.

As long as the teacher hasn't entered the classroom, she's not considered late for class.

The classroom was full, with only the first and second rows having empty seats.

Zhu Fan sat in the first row.

She froze when she took the book out of her bag.

She had left the books for afternoon classes in her car in the morning because she thought they were too heavy to put in her bag.

Fang Qizhou took her directly to the teaching building where she had classes. She was sitting in the first row, a very conspicuous spot.

As she picked up her bag, preparing to move to the second row, the teacher hurriedly entered the classroom carrying a laptop.

Zhu Fan had no choice but to pretend to put down a book from another course and then take out her phone to send a message to Fang Qizhou.

F: [I arrived at the classroom two minutes before the teacher.]

F: [I really wasn't late.]

F: [Did you do something behind the scenes?]

Fang Qizhou returned a picture of her red hair tie that had fallen into the passenger seat.

Zhu Fan had no idea when her hair had gone unkempt.

Fang Qizhou: [You panicked like that just because you were late, but you weren't panicking at all when you were squirming in my arms.]

Zhu Fan sent a string of messages!!!

Feeling that this was not enough to express her anger and embarrassment, she posted a dozen or so teddy bear stomping and angry emojis on her screen.

A shadow fell beside him, and as the seat next to him creaked slightly, Zhu Fan glanced to the side.

"You've been late the whole week, as many times as you've been late this semester."

Zhu Fan's shoulders slumped for half a second when she saw the mockery in Qi Bai's eyes.

She didn't want to be late either.

Zhu Fan rested his chin on the table, his eyes showing signs of weariness: "Why don't you change your seat?"

Fang Qibai lazily crossed his arms, "Your disdain is too obvious."

Zhu Fan was mainly annoyed by Rong Lewei's constant visits to her to assert her presence, which she found exhausting.

"Go sit with your girlfriend."

Fang Qibai glanced casually at the book in front of her. "We split up at noon."

The cold words fell on my ears.

Zhu Fan showed no curiosity about the inside story, and with his eyes drooping, sincerely said, "Congratulations."

Fang Qibai had a smile on his lips, a smile that made his angular face look superior and alluring, revealing his innate nobility and charm.

She clicked her tongue. "Don't laugh like that."

Fang Qibai raised an eyebrow.

Zhu Fan: "Rippling."

She found a fitting adjective.

Fang Qibai leaned back lazily in his chair. "That's going too far."

The girl's gaze was so pure and innocent when she looked at him, as if she were joking as always.

However, when the teacher looked at him, he concealed his book.

The teacher put on the microphone, explained why he was late, apologized, and began the lesson.

Fang Qibai pushed his book towards Zhu Fan.

Zhu Fan didn't act coy.

Even if Fang Qibai doesn't bring his books to class, or even if he doesn't come to class at all, the teacher will still call him with a smile to ask if he's feeling unwell or if he's been delayed by something else important.

But Fang Qibai never missed a class because of the teachers' favoritism and preferential treatment.

The model student who excels in both academics and conduct in public is now playing Minesweeper on the computer.

Zhu Fan wasn't much better off; he kept yawning halfway through the lesson.

Her seat was directly in front of the air conditioner vent, which gave her a headache.

She crossed her arms and sniffed.

"cold?"

When Fang Qizhou asked her, the computer screen was blown apart by a landmine.

Zhu Fan hummed in agreement, but didn't take the shirt jacket he offered. "Let's switch seats after class."

Fang Qibai casually draped the shirt that Zhu Fan hadn't taken over behind her chair.

Zhu Fan slept for one and a half of the afternoon's classes.

When she woke up, the classroom was empty.

A faint scent of cedar wood lingered in her nostrils as she lazily lowered her eyes.

Someone had draped a piece of clothing over my shoulder without me noticing.

The white shirt slipped off his shoulder, and Zhu Fan reached out to catch it.

The setting sun outside the window painted half the sky red, making everything around seem both magnificent and serene. The gentle, scattered rays of light were not dazzling, but rather as tender as a giant oil painting.

Zhu Fan tore off the sticky note Qi Bai had left for her on the table. It contained the group assignment the teacher had given her.

She didn't rush out of the classroom; instead, she sent a message to Zhu Wan asking where she was.

According to the time she and Zhu Wan agreed upon, she should be arriving at Peking University soon.

-

As Zhu Wan stepped into the gates of Peking University, she looked at the sunset on the horizon and was so moved that she almost burst into tears.

Before this, she never dared to imagine that she would step into the best university in Kyoto at the age of 17.

All the grievances and sadness I felt at school today vanished in that instant.

When that familiar figure came into view, she felt as if she had been blessed by Lady Luck.

Beneath the sycamore-lined path, a man leaned lazily against a tree, one long leg slightly bent and the other foot on the ground, talking on the phone. A cigarette was between his fingers, and he exhaled white smoke, which was swept behind him by the summer breeze and dissolved into the orange glow of the sunset.

The man stood tall at the horizon where the sun was setting, his features clearly defined. The wind ruffled his neat short hair, and his expression was calm, dignified, and composed.

After finishing his call, the man turned his head and casually looked at her.

Zhu Wan knew perfectly well that his gaze was not on her.

"What a pretty little sister."

Zhu Wan gripped her student ID card tightly, only to be met with a face even more beautiful than a woman's.

Qiu Chen smiled at Fang Qibai, who was walking over, and said, "There's a pretty girl here who's been staring at you, like she wants to give you a love letter."

"Dog White, this little girl doesn't look like she's underage."

Fang Qibai leaned down to look Zhu Wan in the eye and opened his palm.

Zhu Wan was taken aback for a moment, then quickly explained, "I didn't come to deliver a love letter."

The man was still smiling, his features delicate and handsome, so captivating that it was impossible to look away.

"I know."

Zhu Wan stared, mesmerized by the man's eyes, which were bathed in the soft glow of the sunset.

He still remembers her.

Qiu Chen snapped his fingers near the girl's ear.

Zhu Wan's eyelashes fluttered, and she hurriedly handed her campus card to Fang Qibai.

"Thank you for that day on the bus."

Qiu Chen popped a rainbow candy into his mouth. "Pretty little sister, you've come to repay a debt of gratitude."

Fang Qibai gazed at the girl before him and asked with a smile, "How shall I thank you?"

Qiu Chen smiled charmingly and interjected, "Naturally, I'll repay you with my body."

Unconventional behavior once again stunned Zhu Wan.

Fang Qibai jokingly scolded the boy.

Qiu Chen clicked his tongue, "This pretty girl looks a bit dazed."

When Zhu Wan looked up again, her voice was very soft, "Can I buy you some milk tea?"

Fang Qibai reached out his hand to Qiu Chen.

Qiu Chen patted his pocket. "There's only one bag of rainbow candy left."

Fang Qibai took the bag of rainbow candies that Qiu Chen was reluctant to let go of and handed it to the girl.

"Thank you for making this special trip to treat me to some candy."

Under the man's gaze, Zhu Wan inexplicably accepted the bag of candy.

Qiu Chen rubbed his neck. "Gou Bai, I'm hungry. Let's go."

Fang Qibai took a few steps forward, then lazily turned back. "What's your name?"

“Zhu Wan”.

The girl's light and ethereal voice drifted into the summer breeze and the evening glow.
