Chapter 39 Wounded
Zhu Fan dodged Ming Yazhi's first stab, but was violently shoved by a girl who rushed out of the bathroom in a panic, shouting "Murder! Murder!"
She slipped, her high heels hitting the water, and she fell to the ground in a disheveled manner.
A sharp pain shot through my knees and ankles.
Zhu Fan's heart sank.
When Ming Yazhi saw her fall while running away, she laughed menacingly. She brandished the sharp fruit knife in her hand and approached her step by step. "Hey, why did you stop running? Get up and keep running."
"Miss Zhu, weren't you very fast runners just now?"
Zhu Fan pursed his lips, ignoring the pain in his ankle, and scrambled to his feet, his eyes quickly scanning his surroundings, trying to find something to defend himself with.
Unfortunately, the corridor was even cleaner than the floor.
Inside and outside the restroom, for a moment, apart from the girl who had just rushed out of the restroom, everyone else hid inside, too afraid to come out.
Ming Yazhi's eyes were filled with overwhelming hatred.
Rong Lewei reached out to stop Ming Yazhi, but then withdrew her hand.
She tried to stop her, but she couldn't.
Ming Yazhi watched as she drew the knife closer and closer to Zhu Fan, who was unable to run away due to her sprained ankle. An excited smile crept onto her lips.
Ming Yazhi would prefer to slash Zhu Fan's beautiful face and also her beautiful legs, preferably with a few cuts as well.
It would be even more perfect if I could stab her in the heart.
Zhu Fan leaned against the wall, his fingertips turning white. "Ming Yazhi, hurting someone is against the law."
Are you sure you want to spend the rest of your life in prison?
Ming Yazhi's lips curled into a wicked grin as she fiercely raised the knife in her hand. "Do you think I'm afraid?"
"Zhu Fan, you should just die!"
When people are in danger, they will react instinctively.
Zhu Fan turned and ran.
The excruciating pain in her ankle caused her to fall heavily to the ground again.
Zhu Fan suddenly regretted wearing a pair of stiletto heels today in order to look pretty.
She closed her eyes as the knife tip came down and raised her arm to block it.
The expected pain did not come.
Zhu Fan opened her eyes, her eyelashes trembling.
Looking up, she saw Fang Qizhou dressed in all black, like an evil god emerging from the night.
The man exerted force, and the knife in Ming Yazhi's hand fell to the ground.
Ming Yazhi's wrist was twisted into a pretzel by the man, and then it swelled up rapidly.
"ah--"
Ming Yazhi's screams and the sound of the fruit knife hitting the ground brought Rong Lewei back to her senses.
It was Fang Qizhou.
Fang Qizhou actually came tonight too.
She hesitated to move forward, her body contorted by Wen Yuxing's cold and menacing gaze.
She suppressed her panic, "Zhu Fan, I'm sorry, I didn't stop Ming Yazhi just now... Are you alright?"
Zhu Fan pressed his palms to the ground, the cold sweat on his back sticking to his clothes, giving him the feeling of having escaped death.
Wen Yuxing sneered and pointed at Rong Lewei: "What do you mean you didn't hold on? You didn't hold on at all."
He pointed at the people peeking out of the bathroom and said, "If anything had happened to Zhu Fan just now, you would all be accomplices. Isn't standing by and watching murder a crime?"
Wen Yuxing's words slowly warmed Zhu Fan's heart, which had grown cold.
She rubbed her slightly itchy left eye.
Fang Qizhou bent down and squatted in front of Zhu Fan.
The girl's eyes were red-rimmed, her brow furrowed with pain and fear. Her fair cheeks were as white as paper. The hem of her pristine white skirt was stained and dirty.
Zhu Fan was lifted up from the ground by Fang Qizhou.
"If you encounter danger, won't you call for help?"
"Just stand there and wait for someone to stab you?"
"Isn't that stupid?"
Fang Qizhou's voice brushed gently past her ear, his movements were extremely tender, but his dark eyes were as cold as if they had been tempered with ice.
Zhu Fan hugged Fang Qizhou's neck, "Thank goodness you came."
"Thank you for saving me."
The girl's brow relaxed, and her voice became slightly hoarse, as if moistened by water. Her cheeks and lips slowly regained their rosy color, but she still looked miserable, yet she still grinned at him.
"His smile is uglier than his tears."
Zhu Fan's lips were pinched by the man's fingertips, and she lifted her eyelashes to glare at him in dissatisfaction.
Meeting Wen Yuxing's concerned gaze, she wanted to ask, "What are you doing here?"
Unfortunately, Fang Qizhou pinched his mouth shut, preventing him from making a sound.
Wen Yuxing kept his eyes focused on his nose and his mind, not glancing at Zhu Fan at all.
He was truly terrified.
He and Fang Qizhou went upstairs. They were about to turn into the left corridor and had almost passed it when they suddenly heard the words, "Zhu Fan, go to hell."
Before he could finish speaking, Brother Zhou suddenly rushed out.
That scene gave him a real fright.
That knife almost stabbed Zhu Fan in the back, leaving a bloody hole.
Wen Yuxing picked up the fruit knife from the ground, played with it for a moment, and then turned his gaze to Ming Yazhi.
Out of the corner of his eye, he saw Fang Qibai and Qiu Chen rushing over and clicked his tongue, "What a mess your group is in. Zhu Fan almost got stabbed in the back."
Fang Qibai's usual laziness and nonchalance vanished as his gaze fell on Zhu Fan's swollen left ankle. "You sprained your ankle?"
Zhu Fan nodded and pushed away Fang Qizhou's hand that was pinching her mouth. "There shouldn't be any broken bones."
Fang Qibai was about to check Zhu Fan's ankle when Fang Qizhou, holding him, tried to avoid him.
Their eyes met, and Fang Qibai frowned as he looked at Ming Yazhi and Rong Lewei after Zhu Fan said it didn't hurt so much.
Qiu Chen asked in a cold voice, "Who did this just now?"
"And who are the bystanders who are watching with indifference?"
Zhu Fan looked at the large group of people following behind Fang Qibai and Qiu Chen, and asked, "Why are you all out here?"
Qiu Chen was furious. "I was in the private room with Gou Bai when I heard someone rush in and say you'd been stabbed."
He was so anxious he was practically frantic.
Fang Qizhou scoffed, "By the time you get here, the corpses will be cold."
Zhu Fan pouted, "Why are you cursing me?"
The girl's soft, dissatisfied voice sounded a bit like she was being coquettish.
The girl in his arms had a serious expression, and her bright, clear eyes were filled with a hint of anger.
She even lightly bit her lower lip.
Qiu Chen pointed at the two of them and said, "Go downstairs and get a bucket of ice, and bring up two clean towels."
For the boys, spraining their ankles while playing basketball is a common occurrence.
Zhu Fan's ankle was visibly swollen.
First, use ice to reduce swelling and relieve pain.
Rong Lewei quietly moved to a place far away from Ming Yazhi.
Qiu Chen frowned. "Ming Yazhi, Zhu Fan has treated you so well all these years, and you're repaying kindness with enmity."
Meeting Qiu Chen's and the others' disgusted gazes, Ming Yazhi suddenly burst into laughter, her expression contorting, "Hahaha..."
"She's nice to me because I can help her come up with ideas to pursue Fang Qibai."
Everyone looked at Zhu Fan in Fang Qizhou's arms.
Zhu Fan quietly hugged Fang Qizhou's neck, her expression indifferent.
Ming Yazhi got up from the ground, pointed at everyone present, and said, "I was like a dog. She would do whatever Zhu Fan asked for."
"What difference is there between you people surrounding Fang Qibai and Qiu Chen and me?"
“Over the years, I’ve followed Zhu Fan closely. I’ve done my part, but just because she’s unhappy, my brother is going to be imprisoned. My parents are so desperate for money that they’re about to jump off a building and even sell their daughter.”
Fang Qibai interrupted her, "I had someone investigate your brother's bar. As for the problems with your family company, your parents know better than you do."
Ming Yazhi couldn't understand how she had ended up like this.
She looked at Rong Lewei in despair.
Rong Lewei avoided her gaze.
Ming Yazhi pointed at Zhu Fan and said, "Zhu Fan, you are more cunning than any of us. You have feelings for Fang Qibai, and in order to get him to return to school from the Fang family ancestral hall, you didn't hesitate to seduce Fang Qizhou, and he actually succeeded in seducing you."
"In your eyes, she is a pure and noble flower on a high mountain, but she is nothing more than a broken piece of cloth that has been played with."
Zhu Fan remained calm amidst Ming Yazhi's repeated words, as if Ming Yazhi wasn't talking about her at all.
Fang Qizhou took the knife from Wen Yuxing's hand.
Before anyone could react, the fruit knife had already pierced Ming Yazhi's palm.
Fresh blood dripped down, staining the floor red.
Ming Yazhi fainted from the pain.
Rong Lewei was so frightened that she collapsed to the ground, feeling as if she had fallen into an ice cellar.
In the dead silence, Fang Qizhou carried Zhu Fan away lazily.
Fang Qibai took the ice and towel and called out to Fang Qizhou, "Take her to the private room and treat her foot injury."
Qiu Chen leaned against the wall, pointed to the people hiding in the bathroom and Rong Lewei, and said, "I don't want to see these people again."
"Rong Lewei, you and Ming Yazhi are despicable, don't you dare drag Zhu Fan into this."
"I'm putting it this way today: Zhu Fan can do whatever she wants, whoever she likes, whoever she wants to hang out with, and however she wants to hang out with them."
"If anyone ever lets me know that someone has hurt him or slandered him again, I'll kill her."
Yang Che handed a cigarette to Qiu Chen, "Chen'er, have a smoke to calm down."
Qiu Chen, with a cigarette dangling from his lips, slightly raised his chin: "Throw out the one who's passed out."
