Chapter 95 Campus Singer Competition
Zhu Fan took the chrysanthemums out of the trunk.
The bright red flowers unfurled, emitting a delicate, slightly herbal fragrance.
When Meng Yin came out of the villa, she saw her daughter moving flowers and quickly went over to take them from her, saying, "Thank you for your hard work, Afan."
She lowered her head to sniff the air, her brows and eyes relaxing. "These flowers are blooming so beautifully."
The old lady of the Zhu family loved chrysanthemums the most among all flowers, and thus kept hundreds of varieties in her old house.
When Zhu Fan went to pick up the pot of chrysanthemums, she also picked out some other flowers at the flower shop.
The mother and daughter made two trips back and forth, and Meng Yin couldn't resist starting to transplant the plants—
Flowerpots may be exquisite, but they can never compare to the spaciousness of a garden; plants, like people, should always grow freely and happily.
The garden was brightly lit. Zhu Linjun saw the commotion downstairs from his study and came down to help his wife with the gardening.
When Zhu Fan saw her father arrive, she quietly retreated back into the house.
She washed the floral mud off her hands, and because she was so hot, she rolled up her sleeves to her arms, just as Aunt Shu came downstairs carrying a tray.
Zhu Fan sat down at the dining table and poured himself a glass of water.
Ji Shu put down the tray and said with a smile, "The kitchen has made chicken soup. Madam instructed me to make sure that the eldest young lady finishes her soup before letting you go upstairs. The second young lady has already finished hers."
Meng Yin always felt that her two daughters were too thin, so she tried all sorts of ways to make them healthier.
Zhu Fan took the soup that Aunt Shu had served, turned around and went into the kitchen to serve her a bowl as well, and pulled Aunt Shu to drink with him.
The chicken soup was so delicious that she almost swallowed her tongue.
"Drink slowly. If you like it, Aunt Shu will make it for you every day." Ji Shu looked at Zhu Fan, who was drinking with relish, and a smile unconsciously curved her lips.
Zhu Fan gave a thumbs up: "Awesome!"
She took a picture of the soup in the bowl and sent it to Fang Qizhou, asking him if he was craving it. Then she turned to Aunt Shu and said, "Aunt Shu, could you pack a portion for me in a thermos tomorrow morning so I can take it to school?"
Ji Shu smiled and joked, "Want to bring it to your boyfriend?"
Fang Qizhou took her home; Aunt Shu had seen her a few times.
Zhu Fan nodded with a smile, her eyes brimming with a soft sweetness. Ji Shu looked at the little girl's undisguised happiness, her gaze softening even more.
Zhu Fan pointed upstairs: "Aunt Shu, I'm going upstairs to wash up first."
It was still early, so she went to A-Yuan's room and teased her for a while.
Zhu Wan is writing furiously to finish her homework.
Zhu Fan looked at her hands and knees, which were covered with bandages.
Zhu Wan smiled and opened her palm, shaking her head under her sister's concerned gaze, "It's not serious, not serious at all, it doesn't hurt at all."
After examining her sister's wound, she continued doing her homework.
Zhu Fan leaned against the desk and asked, "How many sheets are left?"
Zhu Wan held up three fingers: "One each of physics, chemistry, and mathematics, plus two essays."
Seeing that A-Yuan was overwhelmed by the sea of questions, Zhu Fan quietly took away the two Chinese language papers that she had already finished, except for the essay.
Zhu Wan was so engrossed in writing that she didn't even notice when her sister left.
Although she didn't have a piano lesson tonight, she still practiced for two hours on her own.
She'll probably be doing these assignments until midnight.
-
Zhu Fan returned to her room and, while video chatting with Yi Jia, imitated A Yuan's handwriting to write an essay for her.
She has already written an 800-word essay.
I'm writing the second one now.
Yi Jia snapped his fingers: "A Fan, I've decided what to sing in the selection competition!"
Zhu Fan twirled the pen between her fingers, "After nearly two hours of searching, I've finally decided."
Yi Jia rested her chin on her hands and lay on the bed, humming softly.
Zhu Fan put down his pen and listened attentively.
Zhu Wan came looking for her Chinese exam paper. Standing at the door, she was captivated by Sister Jia's clear and magnetic singing voice and listened intently.
Before Yi Jia finished singing, he saw Zhu Fan completely mesmerized by him, laughing as he collapsed onto the bed while hugging a dinosaur plushie: "Are you completely captivated by me?"
Zhu Fan turned the screen towards A-Yuan at the door: "There's another one at the door."
Zhu Wan smiled and waved to Sister Jia on the screen.
Hearing Zhu Fan's affirmation of her singing, she lay on the bed, resting her head on a dinosaur doll, and laughed happily.
Zhu Fan smiled and asked A Yuan if she was looking for her Chinese exam paper.
She handed her the completed essay, saying, "I'll bring this to you when it's finished."
Zhu Wan blinked when she saw the handwriting in the composition grid that was exactly the same as her own.
Zhu Fan was worried that she would feel guilty, "It's okay to be lazy once in a while. A-Yuan, don't always be so obedient."
The Chinese language test wasn't too difficult for A-Yuan, and she always left the essay to be written last.
Staying up late all the time is very bad for your health.
Yi Jia called out to Zhu Wan through the screen, "Wan, you have to come and cheer me on on the day of the finals, right?"
Zhu Wan sat cross-legged at her sister's feet and gave an OK sign.
Yi Jia chatted with Zhu Wan, asking her to rate her singing.
Zhu Wan said repeatedly, "I can't get enough of it, I can't get enough of it."
Yi Jia smiled, his eyes crinkling, clearly pleased.
She asked Zhu Wan to request a song, and she sang it for her free of charge.
Zhu Wan thought for a moment and then requested the song "A Road of Blooming Flowers."
Yi Jia got out of bed, grabbed his guitar, and used a phone stand to position his phone so it was pointed at himself.
She cleared her throat and struck a pose: "I'd like to dedicate 'A Journey of Flowers' to my fans and friends."
"I hope the wishes I made will blossom along the way, protecting those dreams from the wind and sand..."
People shine when they do what they truly love.
In the preliminary and semi-final rounds of the Peking University Campus Singer Competition, Yi Jia was the most popular singer among all the contestants.
Zhu Fan campaigns for Yi Jia's votes on WeChat Moments every day.
There's one day left until the final.
That noon, all the participating singers did their final rehearsal.
