Chapter 106 Past

Chapter 106 Past

Fang Zeheng and Luo Shuixin first met at the Jiabo Oil Painting Exhibition in Beijing.

His friend is moving to a new house, and he wants to buy a painting as a housewarming gift for him.

The girl, dressed in an ordinary black knit sweater and black skirt, was stained with indelible paint. Carrying a canvas bag, she stood tall and aloof in front of the painting he had chosen.

When the staff wanted to retrieve the painting, he saw that she was looking at it intently and asked them to leave it until the end of the day's exhibition, when he would send someone to pick it up.

As if she had overheard him telling the exhibition organizer that he wanted to buy the painting, she looked at him and smiled slightly. "Sir, do you really like this painting?"

There were many girls around her, about the same age, taking photos or discussing the paintings with their friends.

Fang Zeheng said yes.

"I like it too. It's good to be rich."

The girl's exclamation startled him slightly.

For a moment, he thought that if she liked it, he could give her this painting.

Luo Shuixin tilted her head and asked him, "Why do you like this painting?"

Fang Zeheng gazed at the warm ocean colors before him.

His gaze fell on the sailboat in the painting.

Luo Shuixin thought he would say it was gentle and warm, just like everyone else who saw the painting.

"get away."

Luo Shuixin was stunned, then her eyes burst with great light.

Fang Zeheng was captivated by the girl's bright eyes.

When he said he would give the painting to her, the girl chuckled, "Because I'm pretty, so you're giving me a painting?"

Fang Zeheng gazed at the light and liveliness in the girl's eyes and nodded.

They met by chance, their meeting lasting no more than three minutes, yet his intention to give her a painting was crystal clear.

He made no attempt to hide his thoughts.

Seeing that the girl remained silent for a long time, he apologized for his abruptness and rudeness.

As he was about to leave, the girl called out to him, "I painted this picture. I won't charge you; it's a gift."

Fang Zeheng then realized that the girl's quiet silence was not a rejection.

Luo Shuixin's voice was low and slow, "I was born in a fishing village on a remote island. This painting depicts the fishing village at dusk. People who haven't seen such a scene will find it beautiful and warm. But after looking at it for a while, you'll find that it's just like that. People are really strange. The place they desperately want to escape is now the place they want to go back to but can't."

Because she insisted on applying to an art academy in Beijing, her father declared that she was too arrogant to care about her parents and severed ties with her.

She desperately wanted to leave the fishing village and see a wider world.

She resolutely left the backward fishing village.

The day she left the fishing village, her mother gave her 500 yuan.

Tell her never to come back.

The fishy smell that had seeped into her body day after day can still be smelled to this day.

Fang Zeheng remained silent.

Luo Shuixin apologized to him, saying that on their first meeting, he had confided in a complete stranger.

She held her bag and said, "Just pretend I'm talking to myself, don't pay any attention to me."

Fang Zeheng asked for his contact information.

Luo Shuixin smiled frankly: "I'm very poor. My old phone is broken, and I can't afford a new one."

Fang Zeheng left her his phone number, saying, "Once you sell the paintings, you'll have money."

Sometimes, fate is just that wonderful.

He had been waiting for her call for over a month, but she never called.

The money he paid for the painting was insisted on being returned.

He had been unable to get through to the number left by the person in charge of the art exhibition.

He saw Luo Shuixin again at the coffee shop downstairs from the company.

In the early morning, there were many people queuing to get their coffee at the coffee shop, which was next to an office building.

He spotted Luo Shuixin at the bar as soon as he saw her making coffee.

Perhaps because he was new, his coffee-making skills were not as proficient as those of the previous baristas.

Some people were getting impatient, saying, "There are so many people, and you're all alone. How can you manage? There are usually two of you."

"Your boss is terrible at business. This is no way to save on staff."

The people queuing to pick up their meals are all regular customers of the store.

Luo Shuixin turned around and apologized, "If you're in a hurry, you can leave your address, and I'll have a colleague deliver it to you when it's ready."

The people in the long line who were complaining softened their tone because of her beauty and unhurried words.

When Fang Zeheng went to get her food, Luo Shuixin was too busy to even look up at her.

Soon, a new barista arrived from outside the shop.

The boy, wearing a hat, kept apologizing to Luo Shuixin.

Luo Shuixin vacated the bar counter, saying, "It's my turn to rest."

The male barista paused for a moment, then said, "Okay, sister, there are so many people. Why don't you wait until this round is over before you rest? I'll buy you lunch."

Luo Shui was utterly exhausted.

The morning rush hour is not really over until after 9:30.

She sat on a chair outside the coffee shop, lost in thought.

The cold winter wind blowing on your face makes you feel cold and need to perk yourself up.

A box of chocolates wrapped in gold leaf was handed to me.

She recognized Fang Zeheng.

After that, the two would meet at the coffee shop almost every day.

Fang Zeheng, 26, fell hopelessly in love with Luo Shuixin, 22.

Luo Shuixin, 22 years old, is beautiful and lively, yet poor and proud.

Luo Shuixin's talent for painting did not improve her impoverished life; instead, it made her live in poverty every day.

She sent all her money back to her parents in the fishing village.

Her two-year relationship with Fang Zeheng was the happiest two years of her life at Peking University.

I focused on painting without distractions, worked hard at part-time jobs, was no longer alone, and my life gradually improved, no longer struggling financially.

Just when she thought life would get better and better, Fang Zeheng, under pressure from his family, got engaged to the Leng family.

The first person to approach her was Leng Qiyi's mother.

They gave her a check and told her to leave.

Luo Shuixin had no intention of marrying into a wealthy family or becoming a rich man's wife.

All she wanted was Fang Zeheng's sincere heart.

She could understand the responsibility and pressure Fang Zeheng was under when he got engaged to someone else, but she couldn't forgive him for lying to her.

She couldn't get through to Fang Zeheng by phone, nor could she see him.

She learned from Leng Qiyi's mother that he and his fiancée had consummated their marriage.

Fang Zeheng cultivated a relationship with his fiancée abroad.

Luo Shui was heartbroken, but then she found out she was pregnant.

She waited for Fang Zeheng in Beijing for three months. She could disbelieve what others said; she was waiting for Fang Zeheng to come and explain to her.

Three months later, unable to contact or see the person, she held a grand wedding abroad with another woman.

Luo Shuixin was completely heartbroken.

She wanted to abort the child, but ended up escaping from the operating room.
