Chapter 34

Chapter 34

"Yes, do you also know Du Lianshan?" Nian Qing looked at Gu Luoyan and answered, then smiled.

"I helped you transform using the spring water from Penglai Peak in Dulian Mountain. What about you? Why did you mention that place?" Gu Luoyan frowned, her tone a little anxious.

"You actually discovered Penglai Peak," Nian Qing seemed very happy. She stared at Gu Luoyan and said:

"Dulian Mountain is a strange mountain. According to the legends of the old monsters, the mountain appeared overnight, as if it had grown arms and legs, appearing on its own. It has a profound spiritual charm and is extremely helpful for spiritual practice." She held up two fingers and continued, "Thus, over the past two hundred years, countless monsters have poured in, and it has become the Dulian Mountain we see today."

"I am also a monster from Dulian Mountain." Nian Qing's smile widened. "In the past, Mingjing was not the Mingjing it is today. Back then, the city walls were far away, and Dulian Mountain was in the north. Monsters from outside called it Beishan."

"As for the Penglai Peak you just mentioned, it's one of the three mysterious places in the mountain. All the monsters in the mountain know that there are three mysterious places in Dulian Mountain: the Lao Niang Temple on the top, Penglai Peak in the west, and the Fox Fairy Residence in the east."

"Gu Luoyan, I spent the hundred years before I met you in the Lao Niang Temple. Did you go to see the Lao Niang Temple when you were there..." She seemed to have said something wrong for a moment, then shut up and thought for a moment before saying, "I forgot. The Lao Niang Temple is gone."

Gu Luoyan interrupted her, "You were living well in the mountains, why did you leave the mountains, why did you come to Mingjing?"

Nian Qing raised her head, a light flickering in her eyes, and the fox tail behind her swept gently, just like at that time.

Heading north into the deep mountains, the temple of the Goddess of Mercy is bustling with activity.

The fox and the raccoon sat together, looking at the hung woman, cheering and teasing her.

The dignified old woman lowered her face, grabbed the little girl on the ground, walked up to the hung woman, and bared her sharp teeth at her.

The girl screamed and cried, shouting "Mom, save me" while struggling, but she could not escape the old woman's clutches.

The old woman made a gesture as if to bite, and then she saw the hung woman shedding tears of blood, her face pale.

The girl's crying was pleasant to the ear. She tried several times, and when she saw the hanging mother collapse and the girl in her arms cry till her voice became hoarse, she threw the girl to the ground with satisfaction.

Then it revealed its fox face and said to the little girl, "Run away, run away! I won't eat you anymore. Run away quickly!"

The little girl was frightened, but she could no longer cry. She huddled on the ground and looked at her hanging mother. Seeing her mother shaking her head desperately at her, she stood up, took a step, and ran out of the temple.

A burst of laughter came from the monsters behind me.

The old lady looked at the girl running away with a look of joy on her face.

Only when she saw the little girl about to run out of the temple gate did she gently hook her finger, and green smoke appeared in the air, and she tied the little girl in front of her again.

The old lady laughed, and the monsters around her also laughed.

She opened her mouth, threw the girl bound by the smoke into the air, and then put away her spell.

She wanted to watch the girl fall to the ground and die in front of her mother, and then lead the little demons to eat her.

In the blink of an eye, the girl's body hit the ground. The old lady showed an excited smile on her face, but she did not see the blood on the ground as she expected.

The girl fell headfirst to the ground, and then her body lay flat, without even a single bone bent.

The old lady became suspicious and walked forward with the other demons to find out what was going on.

A gust of cold wind blew, and a fox jumped down from the roof of the temple. She bit off the rope that was hanging her mother, and blew with her mouth. The woman disappeared before she fell back to the ground.

At this time, the old lady came closer and saw that the thing that fell down was not a girl, but a piece of dead wood.

The old woman stared anxiously and turned to look at the fox that looked like golden fire.

She screamed, "It's an illusion, it's an illusion! Find the mother and daughter quickly, don't let them escape!"

When the demons captured the fox, the old woman's sharp nails strangled the fox's throat, and the blue fireflies in its eyes dissipated.

The mother and daughter had already escaped, and the demons were as miserable as rats and ants. After whipping it for a while, it still couldn't breathe, so they sent it to the Lao Niang Temple and asked it to bow its head in front of the hall, repent, and punish itself. They wanted to peel out its heart.

Then, for some reason, the fox became rebellious and bit the old lady.

It bit the back of the old woman's hand, and blue light appeared in its eyes again, controlling the mind of the old fox woman.

The fox was just biting off the old woman’s hand when all the demons in the temple attacked.

It stretched out its sharp claws and tore open the old woman's chest. It reached its mouth in and ate the old woman's heart.

Then came the old woman's head, every bone of her.

It seemed to be extremely hungry. When the little demons pounced on it, the fox was biting the bones with a crackling sound. It swept its tail lightly and pushed them away.

The fox ate voraciously and licked every drop of the old woman's blood clean.

Grandma Hu always said, "Instead of practicing for a thousand years, it is better to eat human beings."

After eating Grandma Hu today, it finally understood the joy in Grandma Hu's words.

He licked his lips, and the surrounding monsters were terrified.

He raised his paws to wash his face, then looked around. He found that everything was blocked by it. The fox ran out of the temple, picked up a bunch of fire from somewhere, and burned it towards the temple. Everything turned to ashes.

"What happened next?" Gu Luoyan asked Nianqing.

"Later..." Nianqing said slowly, "I sensed that someone was offering incense to me from somewhere, and because of that, I transformed into a human form."

"Then I came to Mingjing, entered the Hong Kong Coliseum, and met you."

Nian Qing leaned over, hooked Gu Luoyan's hand and said, "Gu Luoyan, don't you think we are destined to be together?"

Gu Luoyan sighed and stroked Nianqing's head which was leaning on him, but his frown never relaxed.

She looked at a spot on the ground and said, "Yes, it's so strange that I feel it's strange..."

"The gods must have signed the line for us!"

After hearing this, Gu Luoyan's brows finally relaxed. She sighed again and asked Nian Qing softly:

"Are there really gods in this world?"

"If there are demons, how can there not be gods? I know one. There was once a fox fairy lady living in Dulian Mountain. I told you it wasn't her!"

"One of the three mysterious places in the mountains is called Fox Fairy Residence. It's where the lady lived before she passed away! If I have some free time, can I take you to see it?"

Gu Luoyan brushed Nianqing's nose, and his expression softened: "Let's talk about it when we have time."

In Ming capital, the night is already deep.

Guan Qing dressed up as a night watchman, holding a wooden clapper in his hand, and walked in the alleys of the capital.

As she walked through the darkness, she deliberately struck the clappers to announce the time.

The sound of the wooden clappers rose and fell with her footsteps.

Guan Qing looked around. It was already the middle of the night. There was no one on the street, only the cold wind was blowing.

She opened her mouth, about to shout some routine words like a night watchman, but before she could utter a word, her breath hitched, and a tingling sensation at the back of her neck silenced her.

The clapper fell to the ground without making any sound.

Guan Qing felt his mind gradually becoming tired and his thoughts became blank.

Her eyes began to roll upwards and blood began to seep from under her eyelids.

Suddenly, a clear bell rang, waking her up.

A red rope broke through the darkness and came over as fast as a dragon. A copper bell was tied to the rope, and the bell sound came from here.

The sound of a bell brushed past her ear, and Guan Qing came back to her senses.

The talisman flew up and attacked the back of the neck, but missed.

The yellow paper was stuck to her neck and stained with blood.

The red rope stretched straight down, touched the ground, and fell into Guan Qing's shadow.

The voice from the sky fell, but it was just a single word: "Bundle."

The red rope was tied into a knot and split into several strands in front of the bell, each strand extending into the shadow like a net.

A person in plain clothes appeared from the invisible, with his dress blown up by the wind, like a banished immortal who had come to the mortal world.

Hongli pinched one end of the red rope with one hand and pulled it gently, then the red rope that had merged into the shadow was brought back into his palm.

She tapped the ground and saw Guan Qing's shadow spreading out like water waves, disappearing for a moment, and then returning to normal. Only then did she breathe a sigh of relief.

Then he said, "I caught you."

When he spread his palm, he saw something wrapped in a red rope like a cocoon, which was still twisting.

Without looking closely, she walked over, peeled off the talisman paper on Guan Qing's neck, and checked Guan Qing's wound.

Under the yellow paper, there were two bloody wounds like small holes on Yu Guanqing's skin. The bleeding had stopped and turned into black scabs.

A small fish swam out from the red carp's forehead, its golden scales dripping with moisture. It swam through the air and dove into the wound on Guan Qing's neck.

"Then I can rest assured." Hongli patted Guan Qing's shoulder and showed a gentle smile.

"Master, it's Yijin..."

"Okay, you have a problem. You are always timid in front of me. Stop talking nonsense." Hongli's hand touched Guan Qing's face and pinched Guan Qing's face like a child.

He joked with her, "You've been doing pretty well lately, you've gained some weight."

She stopped looking at Guan Qing's flushed face and instead fixed her gaze on her hands.

The red rope cocoon loosened and broke when Hongli looked at it, revealing what was wrapped inside - a bat.

Without restraints, the thing opened its mouth, baring its sharp teeth, and was about to bite Guan Qing's hand.

A drop of water condensed and covered the bat.

The red carp held up a spherical water droplet and asked Guan Qing, "What is this?"

Guan Qing focused on looking at the bat in the water ball, then quickly closed his eyes and opened a third white eye on his forehead.

The pupils on her forehead stared for a long moment before closing. Then she replied, "This is a sorcery technique, not a physical object. It can absorb human blood and store it within the body."

Guan Qing opened her eyes and frowned. "Yijin feels that this thing is more like a blood storage jar." She turned back to Hongli and said, "Master, I wonder if Yijin is right?"

"There's progress." Hongli nodded with satisfaction.

She looked over, and with just one glance, the bat that had just been struggling in the water droplet died. Soon, the blood in its body seeped out, polluting the water in the ball, turning it dark red.

"It sucks blood but doesn't use it. I'm afraid the person behind the scenes needs this human blood to refine some evil magic."

Hongli looked at Guan Qing and said, "This monster can catch you off guard and break your barriers. It is no different from a demon."

Guan Qing was stunned for a moment, then said, "But the demon that I encountered was instigated by me. Its magic doesn't seem to be similar to that of this bat..."

"Two demons." Hongli said calmly.

"Two demons..." Guan Qing was so shocked that he couldn't speak.

"I'm afraid there's going to be a storm in Mingjing." said Hongli.

Her hand dropped, and the water ball in her palm burst. The broken water droplets, mixed with blood, no longer fell back to the ground, but flew upwards, rising into the sky.

"We need to find out more information." Hongli stepped forward.

"Go find the man you mentioned."

"Yes, Master." Guan Qing followed and answered.

In Zuiyue Tower, the best restaurant in the city, Gu Luoyan pulled Nianqing into the side room. When they opened the door, they saw a dazzling array of delicious food filling the round table.

"Wow!" Nian Qing's eyes lit up and saliva flowed from his mouth.

Gu Luoyan pushed her to sit down. Lian Zhangluo saw the two of them come in and showed a pleased look.

She bowed to Gu Luoyan, then walked out of the room and closed the door behind her.

Nian Qing looked at Gu Luoyan, unable to hide the joy on his face.

Gu Luoyan said, "Didn't I promise you a table full of fine wine and food to reward you for your kindness?"

Nian Qing chuckled, "You still remember!"

"Eat, these are all yours today, no one will snatch them from you." Gu Luoyan pushed Nianqing to the seat and rolled up his sleeves to pick up some food for Nianqing.

One chopstick for chicken, one chopstick for fish.

Then have a handful of fatty and juicy roast pork.

It was so beautiful that Nian Qing didn't know where to look on the table.

"I'm sorry, I'm sorry," Nian Qing said in a pinched voice, and pretended to salute, then jumped onto the table. She first ate the dish that Gu Luoyan picked for her, and then she started to eat with relish, holding a chicken leg in her left hand and a pair of lamb chops in her right hand.

Gu Luoyan didn't even stop her today. She looked at her with a doting look and just watched her eat as much as she wanted.

Just when I was enjoying my meal, the door rang.
