Chapter 94: Finally Reunited

Chapter 94: Finally Reunited

The two men saw her, walked quickly to her, and called her name with simple smiles.

“Awan. Father and brother are back. You’ve had a hard time while we were away.”

Yu Wan's worries vanished instantly, just as He Jing had said.

"Father, brother, you're finally back. You must be tired from the journey. Sit down and have something to eat, then we can chat."

Mr. Yu chuckled and agreed, “Okay, I’ll do whatever A-Wan says.”

Yu Han, the older brother, also grinned foolishly.

Both father and son are simple-minded.

Upon seeing He Jing, their smiles vanished, their expressions turned solemn and serious, and they prepared to kneel and pay their respects.

"Greetings, He..."

He Jing quickly helped the two of them up, preventing them from kneeling down.

He whispered, "No need for formalities."

Yu's mother patted Yu's father on the shoulder, "You two go wash up and change your clothes first."

The father and son laughed and agreed, and were then led to the backyard by Yu Cheng.

Yu Wan thought she would feel uncomfortable, but after calling out "father" and "brother," she didn't feel awkward at all; on the contrary, she felt very at ease.

The family was finally reunited.

He Jing smiled and asked, "Is it the same as what I said?"

Yu Wan breathed a sigh of relief, "It's true."

He Jing said, "Let's go back to the private room and wait for them to finish cleaning before coming over. I've already told the kitchen to bring the dishes in a bit."

Yu Wan smiled and said, "Okay."

When she returned to the private room, she discovered that He Jing had been holding her hand the whole time.

She tried to pull away, but found herself held tightly by the other person.

She pointed to the hand that was being held, "I think it's time to let go."

He Jing asked, "What would you do if I said I didn't want to let go?"

Yu Wan looked at him blankly, "What do you mean?"

He Jing suddenly moved closer, "Yu Wan, you're so smart, you really don't know what I'm talking about?"

Yu Wan was startled and forced to retreat until her back was against the wall. The boy blocked her escape route in advance, bracing his hands against the wall on either side of her, giving her no chance.

"Now that your whole family is reunited and you're rolling in money, don't you feel like something's still missing?"

Yu Wan watched as his handsome features drew closer. "I'm not missing anything. What do you want to say? Let's talk this out. You know I can't beat you, so you don't need to do this."

He Jing smiled and said, "Since you still don't understand what I'm saying, then I'll just have to show you with my actions."

His face continued to move closer, and Yu Wan realized with a start that his intention seemed to be to kiss her.

She stared at him wide-eyed in disbelief, stammering, "You, you, you... I, I, I... wait, wait a minute, I have something to say."

He Jing, however, did not give her a chance and continued to approach.

Just as their lips were about to touch, they heard a fierce argument coming from the next private room, with sounds of banging on the table and weapons clashing.

Yu Wan placed her finger on the boy's lips and whispered, "Someone is really causing trouble. We need to go out and check it out quickly."

He Jing pretended not to hear and pulled her into his arms around the waist.

Yu Wan tried to push him away but failed. The next moment, her eyes widened in amazement at the boy's strong chest muscles.

It feels so good! I couldn't help but squeeze it.

Her gaze slid down to his abs—he definitely had eight-pack abs!

The boy saw through her thoughts, grabbed her hand, moved it down, and asked in a hoarse voice.

Do you like it?

Yu Wan nodded repeatedly, beaming, "I like it, I really like it."

really!

You can feel the hard, iron-like muscles even through the clothes.

He Jing smiled and said, "So you like this method."

"I love it, I love it so much. Your figure is even better than it was a year ago." Yu Wan almost drooled and wanted to continue, but the boy wouldn't let her touch him no matter what.

"Without a name or status, what is this?" He Jing scoffed.

"Huh?" Yu Wan was stunned for a moment. "What?"

At this moment, the neighbors next door were arguing noisily.

"What is your Jiang Kingdom? Our Yu Kingdom is far more powerful. The people of Jiang are all driven by profit. If it weren't for the benefits offered to you by that prince of Liang, how could you have agreed to help him attack Jin Kingdom?"

"Isn't your Jade Kingdom the same? You always claim to have a God of War, but he's nothing compared to General He, the God of War of the Brocade Kingdom. It's utterly laughable!"

"Stop arguing, we're here to eat, not to fight."

"And you old scoundrel, of course your Xiao Kingdom said you'd stand with our Jiang Kingdom through thick and thin? If you hadn't first apologized to that prince of Liang Kingdom, how could I have been isolated and helpless, leaving our 30,000 Jiang Kingdom soldiers to die on the battlefield!"

"What can we do? How dare we, small countries, confront the Great Liang Kingdom head-on? We'll die whether we advance or retreat. What can we do?"

The argument raged on, with a dozen or so people still arguing and kicking. They even started revealing secrets about each other.

"I heard that the daughter of your Prime Minister of Jiang Kingdom ran away from her arranged marriage? Her fate is now unknown, and her fiancé has vowed to dig three feet into the ground to find her and then kill her. Your Excellency, have you found your daughter yet?"

"You! Who gave you permission to bring this up? Since you're showing no mercy, I'll expose your secrets too! I heard your son didn't even bother taking the imperial examination, ran away from home, and disowned you, the Prince of Xiao, as his father. Now you're in Jin Kingdom eating and drinking, have you found the Crown Prince? If I remember correctly, he's your only son, isn't he?"

Yu Wan felt a headache coming on. Why were so many ministers from various countries gathered in the private room next door? Were they really here for a meal?

"Have you noticed that the children of these people have all run away from home?"

He Jing frowned: "That sounds like it."

Yu Wan added, "Coincidentally, two months ago, a dozen or so young people came to the restaurant. They all had an extraordinary air about them, were clumsy, and looked like they had never experienced hardship in their lives."

He Jing guessed, "Those people have different accents and come from different countries, so they are very likely their children."

“If these people are here to claim their children, that’s fine. The real problem is that they might be using this as an excuse to cause trouble for the Jin Kingdom,” Yu Wan said worriedly.

If it's a conspiracy against the Jin Kingdom, then who is instructing them? Wasn't that prince of Liang Kingdom already executed by Xue Xiujun?

She firmly believed it wasn't Xue Xiujun's idea; having spent so much time together, she couldn't believe he would do something so despicable.

Besides, He Jing and Xue Xiujun made such great sacrifices to achieve a truce back then, so they would be even less likely to provoke war now.

The sounds of banging and crashing could still be heard from the private room next door, clearly indicating that things had already started to break down.

Unable to bear it any longer, Yu Wan rolled up her sleeves, gritted her teeth, and stormed out of the private room.

"If I let them run wild like this, how much money will I lose? I'm going to settle accounts with them right now!"

Without knocking, she rushed into the private room and found that the tables, chairs, and benches were all damaged, and plates and bowls were almost broken all over the floor.

She said angrily, "If you want to fight, go outside and fight!"

Her angry roar drew all the shop's staff, none of whom had ever seen the proprietress so angry. Normally, she was strict but gentle and rarely lost her temper; what was wrong?

The dozen or so middle-aged men in the private room were also startled by the noise and stopped arguing. When they saw a young girl standing at the door, they were surprised and mistook her for a waitress.

Yu Wan strode up to the crowd, her expression stern as she issued a warning.

"I don't care who you are, I only welcome guests who come to eat and enjoy the food. You can make as much noise as you want in your private room, but you can't damage anything in our restaurant."

Only after hearing her say this did everyone realize that the entire private room was indeed severely damaged.

However, they were all princes and high-ranking officials from various countries, so they naturally didn't care about this. One of them stepped forward and said...

"You don't need to worry about this. Go outside and tell your boss that someone among us will take the money for the losses."

"Who took it? How much did they take? How are we supposed to know who smashed it? We were in complete chaos while we were arguing, we didn't even notice."

"Isn't that simple? We must fight to the finish today, and the loser will be responsible for compensating the boss for all losses."

"That is indeed a solution."

Yu Wan realized they were going to continue smashing things, which wouldn't do.

"Wait! If you want to smash things, go back to your own homes. I don't welcome troublemakers like you here. Please leave as soon as possible. The damages will be split equally among yourselves. Five hundred taels in total."

Someone objected and pulled out a stack of silver notes from his pocket. "Young lady, I have five thousand taels here. If you stop interfering with us, I'll give all of this to your boss. I can even give you another hundred taels separately. You work here as a shop assistant, and you only earn two taels a month at most, right? This hundred taels is a lot of money for you. Would you like to consider it?"

Someone chimed in, "Yes, young lady. We're discussing something very important. If we can't reach a conclusion, the world could descend into chaos."

Yu Wan frowned. "Discuss? You think you can get to a conclusion by arguing and smashing things?"

This question stumped everyone. They recalled that they had indeed only been venting their personal grievances during the entire process, and had no intention of making peace.

Just then, the waiter standing on the outermost edge whispered, "Why is my dad here?"

"Oh? And my dad too."

“My dad is here too. If he catches me, I’ll have to go back to get married.”

"What? My father is here too? I'll have him ask your father to propose marriage to me right away."

A group of people secretly recognized their fathers and wanted to run away, but they were punished for skipping work, so no one dared to move.

Yu Wan's hearing wasn't as sharp as He Jing's, but it was still better than most people's, and she heard what they were saying.

This matter can't be resolved in a short time. Call the manager over and ask him to ask all the onlookers to leave the shop. Promise that we won't charge you today and will even give you a free meal. You can come back another day.

The onlookers then left happily.

The dozen or so guys also wanted to sneak away, but they were still afraid of the consequences of punishment, so they just hid in a corner and didn't want their father to come forward and claim them.

Yu Wan gave all the unrelated employees a day off. The dozen or so employees also wanted to slip away, but they were kept behind by He Jing's men.

"We're doomed. The proprietress and Young Master He must have discovered our identities. There's no way we can escape now."

Yu Wan was still standing at the door of the private room. "Distinguished guests, this room is no longer usable. Please move to another room. However, I want to make it clear beforehand that you are not allowed to damage any of my belongings."

Those dozen or so middle-aged men, having held high positions for a long time, had a keen eye for people. At first, they thought Yu Wan was just a worker, but judging from her speech, behavior, and how she gave orders, she seemed to be someone with a lot of influence.

Who are you?

Someone proudly introduced, "This is our boss's wife, Yu Wan Yu Niangzi."

Those people were stunned. "What? So you're Yu Wan, the proprietress of Yu Family Restaurant?"

Yu Wan nodded. "That's right. Have you all heard of me?"

“How could I not have heard? There was a book about you in my son’s room when he ran away from home.”

"Yes, yes, when my daughter left, she also looked at a book called Yu Family Restaurant, which described all kinds of delicious food and had pictures, just like here."

Yu Wan wondered, "Could it be that all those young masters and ladies came to work as errand boys in the shop after reading that book?"

No wonder they'd rather not get paid, just have food and lodging provided.
