Chapter 12 Was He Xiao really wrong?

Taipei Central High School truly lives up to its reputation as the most prestigious and luxurious private school in the city. The surveillance equipment it uses is top-notch, with 360-degree coverage and no blind spots. It captures images of people clearly and also records audio.

In the video, several teenagers of similar age are standing on the sports field, and the physical education teacher is giving them inspiring speeches.

They said "friendship first, competition second," and hoped the team would unite and that they had the ability to win the championship.

He first praised them, then regretfully said, "Liang Xingyue, who used to train with us, can no longer participate in this basketball training match because he sprained his ankle."

That makes sense; after all, it's a sport, and feet are very important. The boys understood this perfectly, but some students raised questions.

“Liang Xingyue was fine at noon, wasn’t he? I even had lunch with him.”

The PE teacher coughed lightly and explained, "Yes, I sprained my ankle this afternoon. The game is about to start, so I called in a student to replace me."

As the PE teacher was speaking, a tall figure appeared at the door and walked straight towards the line.

"Teacher Yu." This person was Jiang Zhixing, who always had a gentle smile on his face.

Sure enough, the moment He Xiao saw him, his face immediately turned ugly, and his brows furrowed so deeply they could trap a fly.

Standing next to him, Gu Yi'an couldn't help but say, "Teachers, are you choosing substitutes so casually? Jiang can't carry anything, can he keep up with us? Don't let him hold us back."

The sound was very loud; the entire basketball court could hear it.

As soon as he said that, several classmates couldn't help but laugh.

Yes, who doesn't know that Jiang is a top student with excellent grades, but his athletic ability is just average?

Last time he ran 800 meters, his face was red from exhaustion. If his family weren't rich, the whole school would probably be talking about how he's just a pretty boy with no substance.

The PE teacher paused in praising Jiang Zhixing, glancing at the boy beside him before speaking up to stop their laughter.

"How can you judge a person by appearances? That's called being superficial. Alright, everyone, let's warm up and get on stage. Every minute is precious."

As soon as he finished speaking, the boys scattered. Jiang Zhixing seemed not to have taken his words to heart and walked straight toward He Xiao.

"Hey, we'll be training together from now on. Hope you've been well." The earlier incident didn't seem to have affected his mood; the smile on his lips remained unchanged. However, when he looked at the instigator, his eyes turned somewhat cold.

Gu Yi'an felt a chill run down her spine when he glanced at her so casually. She moved closer to He Xiao and rolled her eyes.

Was he wrong to tell the truth? Pshaw.

He Xiao met Jiang Zhixing's gaze coldly, and after a few seconds, he sneered: "I have no interest in wasting my time on weaklings."

His tone was contemptuous and extremely arrogant, and his superior attitude made it seem as if he didn't take people seriously at all.

"I'm leaving." He Xiao turned and left immediately, not wanting to waste another second on Jiang Zhixing.

Gu Yi'an quickly followed, naturally not bothering to look at how unpleasant Jiang Zhixing's expression was.

Staring at He Xiao's back, Jiang Zhixing gradually suppressed his smile, his eyes seemingly brewing emotions. He stood there for a while before casually walking towards the court.

The team has two extra substitutes, but due to the heavy academic workload of senior year, they do not participate in these training sessions. However, as the captain, He Xiao would always use his time after school to give them extra training.

This time, Liang Xingyue's foot injury should have been one of the two substitutes to come on, but Jiang Zhixing came instead. The reason behind this is quite clear.

Today was supposed to be a small competition with the students from Class 3.

Now that Jiang Zhixing, whose situation is unclear, has arrived, the competition may be in jeopardy.

He Xiao watched Jiang Zhixing dribbling for a while before saying to Gu Yi'an, "Go check on Liang Xingyue later to see if he really sprained his ankle."

Gu Yi'an was stunned for a moment, then immediately understood, his face showing an indignant expression: "Okay, if that kid has nothing to do, do you want to... you know?"

He made a fist gesture as he spoke.

He Xiao glanced at him. "Do I look like a bully?"

Putting aside whether Liang Xingyue has any problems, just saying he seems like someone who lacks martial ethics?!

Gu Yi'an was slightly taken aback: "Uh...isn't that right?"

A vein throbbed on He Xiao's forehead as he coldly glared at Gu Yi'an and uttered a single word, "Get lost."

Gu Yi'an: ?

During the warm-up game, He Xiao naturally didn't hold back against Jiang Zhixing. At first, it was difficult for Jiang Zhixing to even steal the ball, but later Jiang Zhixing seemed to have figured out some patterns and was able to get dribbling and shooting opportunities from He Xiao.

After that, they played better and better.

It has to be said that he is indeed the male lead; he can learn everything in no time. Except for his stamina being slightly lacking towards the end, he is impeccable in every other aspect.

Until the start of the mini-competition, Jiang Zhixing, having just arrived, might not have been familiar with He Xiao's team's tactics. In the first half, he acted independently and failed to pass the ball to his teammates, causing them to concede many points.

The conflict erupted during halftime.

He Xiao threw down the towel he was using to wipe his sweat and walked straight to Jiang Zhixing, grabbing him by the collar.

"Does your mother even know how to play ball?"

Everyone was startled by what they saw. Although they all had some grievances against Jiang Zhixing, they didn't know what to say. Just as they were about to step forward to stop him, He Xiao got so angry that he took action, and the scene immediately descended into chaos.

"Stop!" The girl's voice came at that moment, and Teacher Zhao's hand trembled as he pressed pause.

"Does Miss Lin have any questions?"

Anyone with eyes could see that He Xiao was always unhappy with Jiang Zhixing's appearance and treated him coldly.

After watching the whole thing, Teacher Zhao became even more certain that the person who caused trouble was He Xiao. Jiang Zhixing was an excellent student with a mild temper. He was about to say something in defense of him when he didn't expect He Xiao's aunt to speak up first.

“Go back, stop where Jiang Zhixing was grabbed by the collar.” Her expression was cold and aloof, and when she was expressionless, she unexpectedly resembled He Xiao by six or seven points.

The butler glanced at Shen Linyue and then at his young master, a growing sense of unease creeping into his heart.

If he didn't know that the gentleman wasn't a promiscuous person, he would have suspected that Miss Lin Yue was the gentleman's illegitimate daughter.

Upon hearing Shen Linyue's words, Jiang Yanxin slightly curled the corners of her lips in a mocking smile.

"Ms. Lin, isn't this as you see it? What else do you need to see? You were the one who asked to see the surveillance footage. Are you dissatisfied with the truth?"

She glanced at He Xiao with an air of superiority, and even her tone of voice was exactly the same as Jiang Zhixing's.

“Our Jiang family is not unreasonable or difficult to deal with. As long as He Xiao personally apologizes to my son and admits his mistake in front of the whole school, we will consider this matter over and will not pursue it any further.”

He Xiao didn't even frown; his gaze followed Shen Linyue intently.

He wanted to see how Lin Yue would handle this matter. All the evidence pointed to him striking first. Would Lin Yue insist on believing that he was right? He secretly hoped so.

Lin Yue raised her head, and the sunlight shone on her, making her look as if she were coated with a layer of light. Her eyes were clear and firm.

"Ms. Jiang, aren't you speaking too soon? We're still looking at the evidence, and you've already made your conclusion. Is this how you raise your children?"
