Chapter 181 More Time

He Liyu returned at 9:30 a.m. the next day.

She entered the house just as Shen Linyue woke up.

Dressed in a suit and tie, with every strand of hair meticulously styled, his deep and aloof eyes softened into a gentle warmth when he met the young girl sitting on the living room sofa watching TV.

"Why are you watching TV in the living room at this hour?" A deep, magnetic male voice sounded from behind.

Shen Linyue subconsciously turned around and met his gentle, watery eyes, exclaiming in surprise, "Congratulations on your generous treatment!"

"Hmm," He Liyu quickly stepped forward and sat down on the sofa next to her, thoughtfully tucking the blanket that had slipped down to her knees back up. "Are you feeling any better? Are you still experiencing heart palpitations?"

As he approached, Shen Linyue's gaze, like a radar, scrutinized him from head to toe. It was a pity she couldn't touch him, otherwise she wouldn't have let him go inside.

“You’ll be fine after taking the medicine,” she paused and asked, “How about you? Did your business trip go well?”

He Xiao reluctantly turned back every few steps in the morning before Shen Linyue finally persuaded him to go to school. At this moment, the large living room was quiet and empty with only the two of them.

“Hmm, it’s nothing,” He Liyu said casually, his eyes not even flickering, “I recently received some news, would you like to hear it?”

Shen Linyue's long eyelashes trembled as she was drawn in by his unfinished tone.

"What news?"

He Liyu frowned slightly, as if he was organizing his thoughts.

As Shen Linyue watched his large eyes grow brighter and brighter with anticipation, He Liyu finally couldn't help but chuckle softly and slowly began to speak.

“The Xie family’s overseas development has stabilized, and Xie Lin’s eldest brother is preparing to return to China to thoroughly investigate his affairs,” He Liyu said, his eyes lowered, his gaze dark and unfathomable, devoid of any emotional fluctuation. “I have also obtained most of the evidence of Jiang Jinyu’s crimes. Things may not be peaceful in China recently, so I hope you and A Xiao can go to the island for a while after your vacation.”

He Liyu looked at her and his eyes softened, his tone gentler: "This matter will be over soon, and then I will have more time to spend with you."

Shen Linyue's heart slowly rose, and when she met He Liyu's eyes, her heart pounded. She never expected that this was what he was going to say.

He suddenly realized that he had been too busy investigating Jiang Jinyu's affairs during this period, and he didn't expect it to be over so soon.

Shen Linyue steadied herself and nodded, her expression serious: "Okay, I will protect A-Xiao, and you must protect yourself too."

He Liyu looked at her quietly, then suddenly chuckled, the smile on his lips lingering as he gently ruffled her hair with his large hand.

His tone was earnest and affectionate, "I promise you. But as a man, Ah Xiao would definitely be more willing to protect you and prevent you from getting hurt; it would cause him a lot of pain." I would too.

He Liyu ultimately did not say what he truly wanted to say.

He still couldn't bring himself to put any psychological burden on A-Yue; he still hoped she would have more options.

Shen Linyue felt uneasy under He Liyu's gaze, sensing that he was acting strangely today but couldn't quite put her finger on it, and was about to ask him something.

He Liyu had already withdrawn his hand and looked at her with a smile: "Rest well, Yue, and don't forget the auction the day after tomorrow."

Shen Linyue felt a chill run down her spine as memories flooded back, her large eyes blinking brightly.

"I'll definitely be fully recovered by the day after tomorrow!"

He Liyu nodded, giving her an encouraging look, and then happened to glance at the bowl of Chinese medicine that the housekeeper brought over, saying gently, "Alright, then drink the medicine first."

Shen Linyue: "..." She immediately retracted her previous statement!

...

Shen Linyue's absence from class left He Xiao, who was studying alone at school, feeling rather listless.

She could even take notes obediently in class because it was arranged by Ms. Shen. She would review the handwriting after returning home, and it couldn't be ugly, otherwise Ms. Shen would be angry.

He Xiao said he would never do such a thing for her, but in reality, he didn't miss a single class and recorded everything.

Until the end of get out of class, he lay listlessly on his desk with his eyes closed, seemingly lost in thought.

"He Xiao, how is A-Yue's health? Will she be able to come to class tomorrow?" Su Xiangxin's worried voice rang out from the corridor.

He Xiao, who had just collapsed, was speechless.

He paused, then slowly raised his head, lazily supporting it with his hand, his whole body as limp as a boneless salted fish.

"Probably, maybe, probably." He said, then let out a big yawn, completely ruining his composure.

Su Xiangxin was shocked by his current state. How could he be so different from the handsome, roguish guy from yesterday?

If she didn't see this face every day, she would have suspected that the person in front of her was an imposter of He Xiao.

"Is there anything else?" He Xiao asked lazily, looking like he was about to faint at any moment.

Su Xiangxin: "..."

She shook her head, and a tall, slender figure stepped out and enveloped her. A familiar, cool aura wafted over her. Before she could turn around, Jiang Zhixing's voice rang out.

"He Xiao, shall we have a talk?" The boy's voice was as cold and distant as ever.

Su Xiangxin's heart skipped a beat for no reason. Ever since their last parting, their relationship had been inexplicably stiff, always giving Su Xiangxin a sense of distance and estrangement. After that, she never took the initiative to contact him again.

Aside from hearing his voice answering questions in class, I've never heard his voice this close before.

Su Xiangxin wanted to turn around but held back. She glanced at He Xiao, pursed her lips, and said, "You two talk, I'm leaving."

After finishing speaking, he left through the back door without even glancing back.

Jiang Zhixing watched Su Xiangxin's figure disappear, his eyes flickered slightly, his thin lips pursed, and he looked away as he met He Xiao's meaningful and teasing eyes.

"If you're so reluctant to part, why didn't you call out to stop them?" He Xiao said with a half-smile. "I didn't realize the class monitor was such a pure-hearted person."

Jiang Zhixing composed himself, his brows furrowing and his eyes turning cold and sharp: "Nonsense, do you have something important to discuss with me?"

“Tsk,” He Xiao shook his head, stretched, and slowly stood up. “Let’s go. I’ll reluctantly talk to you for Lin… Yue’s sake.”

He had overheard some of what happened when Ms. Shen contacted Jiang Zhixing last time, and he roughly knew some of Ms. Shen's plans.

He was curious to hear what Jiang Zhixing wanted to say or ask him this time.

He Xiao glanced at him thoughtfully, then casually walked out with his hands in his pockets.

Jiang Zhixing ignored his contempt, his eyes remaining as indifferent and cold as ever.

In the corner of the teaching building last time, He Xiao was leaning on the railing watching the students chasing and playing downstairs when Jiang Zhixing's voice came before he could speak.

"Is Lin Yue really just your aunt?"

He Xiao's long eyelashes trembled slightly as she glanced at him coldly, "What? Does the class monitor have any questions?"

Jiang Zhixing pursed his lips, his eyes clear and calm: "Then why did my mother target her?"

He Xiao: ? ? ?

“She wanted to find someone to spread Lin Yue’s identity, but I stopped her.” Jiang Zhixing looked away.

He Xiao: "..." Is there something wrong with this mother and son?
