Chapter 29 Call Me Auntie

For a fleeting moment, He Xiao felt he had finally seen the truth.

He has never seen his biological mother since he can remember, and there are not even any photos of her in the family.

Oh, yes, he saw it when he was very young, but he lost it because he was too young and forgot about it.

He had asked about his mother when he was young, but his father always said that she had gone to work in a very far place.

He believed it when he was a child, but as he grew up and lost the love and care of his family, he stopped caring about such things.

However, He Liyu didn't want to continue this topic. He glanced at his left hand and said, "I heard you have a basketball game against No. 1 High School tomorrow?"

He Xiao snapped back to reality, somewhat taken aback and surprised: "How did you know? Did Lin Yue tell you again?"

He didn't believe his father could still keep an eye on him every day.

“No,” He Liyu said directly. “If you want to continue the competition, go to the hospital for a checkup. If you don’t go, I have countless ways to stop tomorrow’s match.”

As expected of the wicked capitalist President He, his words left everyone speechless.

He Xiao was stunned. How could these two be so exaggerated?

He just tripped and fell; was it really necessary to make such a big fuss about it?

And dear father, aren't you using those domineering CEO quotes in the wrong place?! She's not some fragile, innocent female lead!

Don't ask, I heard it from the girls in the class.

He Xiao's expression was complicated, and the various mixed emotions dispelled the lingering resentment in his heart.

“…Oh, is it okay to go tomorrow?” he said dryly.

He Liyu merely glanced at him: "If A-Yue agrees."

He Xiao: ...But Lin Yue was just throwing a tantrum at him. How could he possibly say anything now? It would be so embarrassing.

He frowned. The competition would definitely continue... appeasing Lin Yue didn't seem like a big deal, huh?

He Xiao had mentally prepared himself, but when he went downstairs and saw Lin Yue watching the drama and laughing happily from behind, the words he was about to say got stuck in his throat.

He felt he hadn't done anything wrong, but at the same time he reflected that he had spoken too harshly to her. Caught between these two conflicting feelings, he didn't know what to do.

Thinking of the jar of medicinal wine she had brought, He Xiao made up his mind, turned around and went to the bedroom to get it. After going downstairs, he simply stuffed it into her arms without hesitation.

As for Shen Linyue, who was engrossed in watching TV, she was startled when something suddenly appeared in her arms, causing her to throw it away on the spot.

"He Xiao, what are you trying to do now?" She saw the tall young man standing next to her, and seeing his furrowed brows and unwilling look, she felt angry.

Why don't you just talk things out? Why have you started scaring people?

She examined the medicine bottle in her hand; it was the same one she had just taken up. Seeing that He Xiao remained unmoved, she assumed he didn't care about what she had given him and simply ignored her, calling for the housekeeper.

“Uncle Xiao, your things are useless, please take them back…” She raised the medicinal wine halfway, but a large hand reached out from the side to stop her.

"No..." He Xiao's voice was a little hoarse and low.

Shen Linyue subconsciously looked up and met He Xiao's handsome face. Her eyes were serious and her thin lips parted slightly as she stammered, "I'm sorry, I was wrong, okay?"

Shen Linyue: ?

I almost doubted whether there was something wrong with my ears.

"Oh, you accept it, so what? Don't bother me while I'm watching my show." Her tone was indifferent, completely lacking the initial enthusiasm.

He Xiao's eyes widened even more. "I already apologized, and this is your reaction?"

Damn it, he's never taken the initiative to apologize in his entire life. Shouldn't he go back to his old ways after apologizing?

Seeing his eldest son's shocked expression, Shen Linyue couldn't help but laugh. If his younger brother saw this, his jaw would drop in astonishment.

Has anyone ever seen He Xiao personally apologize?

"Oh, what else? You expect me to wave my hands and then tearfully forgive you for not taking care of your body?"

Just imagining Lin Yue waving her hands in front of him gave him goosebumps.

Damn, I'm disgusted.

Even with all these thoughts in mind, He Xiao still grasped the key points.

“I haven’t neglected my health.” He looked at her, much more serious this time: “I shouldn’t have been so harsh with you, okay? You can come into my room, but you can’t touch anything.”

This was his final concession.

Shen Linyue raised an eyebrow and looked at the boy squatting in front of her. To be honest, he looked like a big dog trying to please its master.

It's strangely cute.

"Can I definitely go to the hospital tomorrow?" His eyelashes trembled slightly, and his voice was soft.

He had never coaxed a girl before, and this was his first time with Lin Yue. He felt extremely ashamed and withdrawn.

Shen Linyue raised an eyebrow, teasing, "Then call me 'Auntie' and let me hear it?"

He Xiao: ...

He looked up and met Shen Linyue's teasing eyes, knowing she was deliberately playing with him, but he couldn't resist, otherwise his father would really keep his word.

"Auntie." He gritted his teeth and the sound came out almost from the depths of his throat.

Shen Linyue was pleased and, in a good mood, moved her head closer to his. To be honest, the fluffy, textured hair felt quite comfortable to touch.

No wonder this kid always likes to touch her head because of his height.

"Good nephew, your aunt heard you."

Feeling the little hand messing around on his head, He Xiao resisted the urge to throw it back, and said with a forced smile, "Now you forgive me, right?"

"Okay, I'll forgive her for now." As soon as she finished speaking, He Xiao stood up without lingering for a second and straightened his coat.

"Oh, then I'll go back and rest."

As he turned to leave, Shen Linyue grabbed the corner of his coat.

He lowered his eyes to look over, his eyebrows still raised, and smiled faintly: "Is there anything else, Auntie?"
