Chapter 44 Cleverness

The three evening classes went by quickly.

Shen Linyue listened attentively to the lecture, while He Xiao next to her copied down the key points with a sour face. She glanced at him occasionally and reminded him when she saw his messy handwriting: "Write your handwriting neater."

He Xiao was so angry he almost threw down his pen, glaring at her resentfully: "I've never let anyone copy anything, and you still have the nerve to make demands?"

As he finished speaking, the girl pursed her lips and her eyes reddened. He Xiao: ...

"I'm really exasperated with you. Can't you just ask me if you don't understand something, ancestor?" He suppressed his displeasure and softened his tone.

Shen Linyue sniffed and said plaintively, "You're not a prickly ball, can you be by my side 24 hours a day? Or do you want me to bother you every moment?"

He Xiao remained silent and expressionless: "Fine, I'll try my best, okay? Don't say anything more."

He was afraid that if he listened any longer, he would soften his heart and agree to some inexplicable thing.

He even suspected that his aunt had cast a spell on him!

Shen Linyue nodded and took out a White Rabbit milk candy from under the table: "Here, have this, don't be angry."

He Xiao's lips twitched. "You're trying to bribe me with the candy I gave you?"

"Is that not allowed? If you don't want it, I'll buy it for you tomorrow and then give it to you." Shen Linyue blinked.

He Xiao was completely exasperated by this woman's thought process. As she withdrew her hand, he quickly grabbed the White Rabbit candy, peeled it open, and popped it into his mouth, glancing at her sideways: "Forget it, you're spending my money to buy things anyway."

Shen Linyue watched him eat the candy, a smile appearing in her eyes, but she did not refute his words.

After observing He Xiao for the past few days, she found that he didn't dislike sweets. At home, she would occasionally see him eating candy from the fruit plate while playing games, but she had never seen him eat it outside. However, she could understand that teenagers in their adolescence care about their image and would certainly not eat candy in front of their classmates.

The last class was a self-study period. Shen Linyue took back the two notebooks and looked at He Xiao, saying, "Stop copying. Do your homework first, so you don't have to stay up all night when you get back."

He Xiao: ?

Does he really need to stay up all night to do his homework?

But under Shen Linyue's watchful gaze, He Xiao resigned himself to taking out three or five coins.

I didn't mean anything by it, I'm just afraid that Lin Yue will keep nagging me, and what can I do if she nags me more than Tang Sanzang?

He was now certain that his father had deliberately transferred Lin Yue to his class to supervise and torment him! He would have to go back and tell Lao He that this was tormenting the mind of a teenager in the prime of his life!

Shen Linyue was unaware of He Xiao's thoughts. Knowing that He Xiao had copied a lot of important points, she took out her homework and asked him, "Ah Xiao, can you help me with this problem? Do you know how to solve it?"

She only asked questions about the earlier parts of the key points book; she just wanted to test him and didn't expect He Xiao to actually be able to answer them.

When He Xiao heard her ask again, he became wary and immediately refused three times in a row: "No, I don't know, don't ask me."

After speaking, he secretly glanced at Shen Linyue's face. Seeing that she looked normal and not angry, he breathed a sigh of relief. His gaze swept over her homework and he was surprised to find that it was the same type of question as the one he had solved in class three and five.

Just as Shen Linyue withdrew her hand with a disappointed expression, he quickly grabbed her notebook, "Wait."

Shen Linyue was taken aback and asked him, "You've learned it again?"

He Xiao coughed lightly, pulled out her homework, raised his eyebrows smugly, and said, "Why don't you try and see?"

Shen Linyue was just trying it out, but seeing him seriously solving the problem, she couldn't help but look at him with more respect. She saw him quickly write down the solution on the draft paper and throw it to her.

“Take it. Is it that hard? I can do it without even using my brain,” He Xiao said.

Shen Linyue was stunned for a few seconds, then a smile slowly appeared on her face, her bright eyes staring straight at him.

"Ah Xiao, you're amazing! You're a genius! You can learn a formula after copying it once. You're even better than your dad was when he was young!" Praises just kept pouring out.

He Xiao was initially pleased, but as she kept praising him and his ears started to turn red, he covered her mouth and manually muted the microphone.

"That's enough, stop talking."

Shen Linyue wasn't angry that her mouth was covered; instead, she blinked her big eyes, which were full of admiration.

He Xiao, feeling the heat of her gaze, withdrew his hand and coughed lightly. His eyes flashed with a hint of arrogance as he said, "This... what's so difficult about this? I can learn it in one look."

"Yes, Ah Xiao is the most powerful in the world!"

He Xiao: ...It's not as powerful as the whole world, cough.

However, being praised seemed to feel quite good, and I easily mastered the small assignment.

...

School ends at 10:30 pm.

Shen Linyue and He Xiao walked side by side toward the school gate. The two figures, one tall and one short, were chatting and laughing as they walked. Of course, only Shen Linyue was laughing; He Xiao only occasionally showed his emotions.

The car that was supposed to pick them up was waiting outside the school early in the morning, and the driver smiled when he saw the two of them.

"Young master and young lady, you must be tired from going to school."

Shen Linyue: ?

Was the driver being a little too eager today?

She glanced at He Xiao beside her. He Xiao raised an eyebrow and remained indifferent. Shen Linyue didn't ask any further questions and smiled sweetly, "You've worked hard too."

Working people and students both work just as hard; there's no comparison.

One is life, the other is future.

"Yes, yes, please."

Shen Linyue got into the car first, and as soon as she sat down, she realized something was wrong. A cool and familiar faint fragrance entered her nose, and she suddenly looked up and met He Liyu's smiling and gentle eyes.

"How was your first day of school?" His voice was low, husky, and magnetic. His face was hidden in the shadows and could not be seen clearly, but his voice was obviously cheerful.

After a two-second pause, Shen Linyue quickly recovered and exclaimed in delight, "Why did you come to pick us up too? It must be tiring to be out so late, thank you."

She tilted her head slightly, her eyes clear and bright, like stars shining beautifully in the night.

"It's no trouble at all," He Liyu chuckled. "I just went back to the company to get a document and came to pick you up on the way."

"Oh, oh, oh." Shen Linyue didn't think there was anything wrong with his explanation. She just turned around to let He Xiao sit in the front, but the boy had already opened the passenger door and sat in.

He Xiao turned around and gave He Liyu a slight nod in greeting. The father and son were like strangers, and the atmosphere became cold.

Shen Linyue, however, seemed not to have heard anything and shared with He Liyu what had happened at school that day.

The focus is on how He Xiao used his intelligence to clear their names, how he could apply formulas to his homework after just one look, and finally, a sentence is added.

"Ah Xiao is so smart!"

The little girl had a very pleasant voice and a quick, lively mind. She could tell stories so vividly that they drew the listener in.

After a long pause, He Liyu finally spoke, his gaze subtly sweeping over the passenger seat before he smiled and said, "Hmm, Ah Xiao is indeed clever."

As for He Xiao in the front row, he was already so embarrassed that he turned as red as a boiled shrimp.

Help! My dear aunt, you have absolutely no regard for my life or death!

I thought that her endless praise in the classroom was the limit, but I didn't expect that she could still talk so eloquently and praise him so much when facing his own father.

He Xiao: ...

The person is dead; if you need anything, burn paper money for them. (Smile)
