Chapter 45 Progress

Every day that followed passed quickly and was fulfilling.

Shen Linyue and He Xiao lived a very simple life, going back and forth between two points every day.

Perhaps because of the effect of the praise last time, He Xiao would stay for evening classes without Shen Linyue having to try to persuade him to stay. He would accompany her home very late every day, and he would complete his homework on time every day.

Despite these measures, he still couldn't stop sleeping in class during the day, which led Shen Linyue to believe that something was wrong with his health.

The boy caught him red-handed touching his forehead to check his temperature.

"What do you want now?" The boy grabbed her hand, his face showing no displeasure at being woken up.

Shen Linyue looked at his messy, fluffy short hair and smiled, "It's nothing, I just wanted to smooth your hair."

He Xiao: ?

"What's wrong with me? I'm not an animal, why should I go along with your wishes?" He rolled his eyes and took a step back warily, afraid that Shen Linyue would reach out her evil hands.

Seeing his determined attitude in defending his head, Shen Linyue couldn't help but laugh: "If you don't want to touch it, then don't. By the way, Old Zhao just asked someone to ask you to go to his office."

After a few days of getting to know each other, Shen Linyue has integrated well into her current study life. According to what she has learned over the past few days, Lao Zhao is the same age as her. Perhaps due to the pressure, he has already gone bald in his forties and looks a few billion years older than his peers.

Therefore, she didn't feel guilty calling him Lao Zhao.

He Xiao frowned: "Why did he want me to go to his office?"

He began to think about what he had done in the past few days. Apart from being late for class twice and not doing the morning exercises every day, he hadn't done anything else.

"I don't know either," Shen Linyue said innocently.

He Xiao snapped out of his reverie and nodded calmly, "Okay, I'll go take a look."

After saying that, he stood up and was about to leave when Shen Linyue called out to him, "If you're going downstairs, could you bring me some snacks? I want some candy too."

He Xiao: "...Understood."

I'm getting better and better at getting him to do things for me every day.

Old Zhao's office was at the corner of the teaching building across the street. He Xiao had just come downstairs when he saw Xu Hao standing under the osmanthus tree across the street.

He glanced at it without paying much attention, but when he saw the person talking to Xu Hao, his steps slowed down.

"Young Master Jiang, it's been almost two days since the post, so no one should be going to pursue it any further, right?" Xu Hao said.

"Heh, why are you asking me these questions? It's not like I took the photos or posted them." Jiang Zhixing glanced at him indifferently: "Even if He Xiao wants to hold me accountable, it won't be me."

Hearing this, Xu Hao became anxious: "But you were the one who asked me to post and guide public opinion!"

The thought that his post was blocked and taken down within two hours of being published, and that his account was also affected, left Xu Hao with lingering fear.

This has caused him to live in fear for the past two days, terrified that He Xiao will find out about him.

Jiang Zhixing's eyes turned cold and sharp: "How can you prove that I asked you to post those gossip posts? Even if you tell others, no one will believe you. On the contrary, the school will only think that it's a problem with your personal conduct and that you're deliberately shirking responsibility and trying to smear me."

He paused, then curled his lips into a condescending smile: "What do you think you can influence me with?"

Xu Hao's face turned pale, and he stared blankly at him, feeling a chill run down his spine. "I... Young Master Jiang didn't mean to threaten you. I just wanted to ask for your advice... to help me figure out how to avoid being held responsible. I don't want to be forced to leave."

Yes, Jiang Zhixing would only say a few words, giving them a sweet treat but never demanding anything of them.

They did these things entirely based on their own assumptions, and he had no evidence whatsoever.

Thinking back to the last time He Xiao had to put a bandage on his arm because of his injury, he felt extremely regretful, but it was too late to say anything now, he had completely offended He Xiao.

Jiang Zhixing's expression softened, but deep in his eyes, there was still disgust: "What are you afraid of? He hasn't contacted you, so he won't do anything to you. Don't come looking for me easily in the future."

Jiang Zhixing felt irritated thinking about what happened last time, so he just casually remarked that the atmosphere between He Xiao and Lin Yue was strange.

As a result, this guy took it upon himself to take some ambiguous photos and post them online, and in the end, it was just a flirtatious post.

When he saw this post, his face turned green. Others might not know about He Xiao and Lin Yue's relationship, but did he? Wasn't this just handing his face over to be slapped?

Fortunately, he never revealed any flaws in his words or actions. Even if He Xiao suspected him, so what? Without evidence, there was no way He Xiao could do anything to him.

Seeing that Xu Hao was still in a daze, Jiang Zhixing said, "Alright, you should understand what I mean. Just stick to the fact that you know nothing about it."

Xu Hao regained some confidence after hearing his words of comfort, and nodded through gritted teeth: "I understand, Young Master Jiang. I will try to bother you as little as possible in the future."

"Okay, let's go back, class is about to start."

He Xiao didn't stay long. He couldn't hear what Xu Hao and Jiang Zhixing were saying, nor could he go over to listen, but he could clearly see the changes in Xu Hao's expression.

While pondering this matter, he arrived at the office door.

He raised his hand to knock on the door, and Old Zhao saw him, his face beaming with a smile, "Hey, classmate He, you're here? Come in quickly."

He Xiao had already composed himself, his expression cold and distant: "Teacher Zhao, what do you need me for?"

Teacher Zhao said with a smile, "I see that you have been doing a very good job with your homework lately, so I wanted to give you a few words of praise."

Upon hearing the word "praise," He Xiao's expression became unnatural, as Lin Yue's praise of him from a few nights ago seemed to still linger in his mind.

Thinking of the embarrassing scene from last time, a vein throbbed on his forehead. He tried his best to keep smiling and said, "Teacher, you're too kind. This is what a student should do."

Teacher Zhao was very satisfied with his recent changes and attributed it all to his aunt, Lin Yue.

Sure enough, with a relative who can suppress bloodline power by his side, even a troublemaker wouldn't dare to act recklessly.

"Hehe, actually there's one more thing. This is something the dean of academic affairs asked me to pass on to you." Old Zhao took out a neatly folded piece of paper.

He Xiao paused slightly, then nodded, remembering what had happened last time, and said, "Thank you, teacher. If there's nothing else, I'll be going now."

He had promised Lin Yue he would buy her snacks, and there was still plenty of time.

Teacher Zhao nodded, "The monthly exam is in a week, and I believe that with He's abilities, he will definitely achieve good results this time."

He Xiao: ...

He suspects everyone is trying to flatter him to death! What good results can someone at the bottom of the class possibly achieve?

Did they go from last place to second to last? Haha, is that progress?

As He Xiao left the office, he happened to run into Jiang Zhixing who was coming in. Their eyes met briefly before looking away. He Xiao's expression was indifferent, while Jiang Zhixing had a smile on his lips as always.

"If we had known that He was coming to the office, we would have come together."

He Xiao frowned and said with disgust, "If you want tea, go to someone else. Don't disgust me."

Jiang Zhixing:...
