Chapter 78 Be Careful

It seemed like the mutual appreciation between fellow villagers.

Seeing the deep respect Shen Linyue held for Nanshi, Li Yanxi couldn't help but introduce her to the scenic spots and delicacies of Nanshi.

Occasionally, Shen Linyue would chime in, which immediately opened up the usually taciturn Li Yanxi. He talked about everything from the scenery to the culture of Nanshi, and finally invited her to visit Nanshi sometime, promising to treat her to some local delicacies.

Shen Linyue's eyes sparkled, and she was so happy that her lips never left her mouth.

He Xiao: ...

So you think I'm invisible just because I don't say anything? Huh?

As Li Yanxi left, still seemingly unsatisfied, Shen Linyue turned around and met He Xiao's reproachful gaze.

Shen Linyue: ?

"What are you still doing here? Pack up and have lunch so you can go to school to continue rehearsing."

He Xiao pursed his lips and said sarcastically, "You seemed to be having a great time chatting with him. You seem to know a lot about many places in Nanshi, even more than I do."

Shen Linyue was slightly startled and quickly reflected on whether she had said something wrong. Fortunately, she had been controlling herself and had kept her words relatively conservative.

"Indeed, I really like Nanshi. I will definitely go there to visit when I have time during the winter vacation."

The eldest son isn't that smart; he won't doubt her identity because of a few words she says.

The fact that he suspected her relationship with He Liyu last time showed how much pain he was already in. If he finds out the truth now, who knows what kind of trouble it will cause.

He Xiao's eyes gradually turned resentful: "Oh, then you go ahead, I don't know what's fun there."

He would visit his maternal grandfather in Nanshi almost every summer vacation, and he had already explored all the attractions in Nanshi. He was tired of it.

Thinking of this, He Xiao felt even more aggrieved. He knew just as much as Li Yanxi, yet she asked an outsider instead of him.

Then, remembering something, He Xiao paused for a moment. He didn't seem to have brought up these things himself.

“Next time you want to know something, just ask me. I know more than he does,” He Xiao said after thinking for a moment, taking credit for the answer.

Shen Linyue: ...She asked Li Yanxi these questions simply to confirm some things.

But He Xiao clearly misunderstood again and became jealous.

"Okay." She nodded and asked, "So, how much do you know about Nanshi?"

Seeing that she was finally willing to talk to him, He Xiao's gloomy mood instantly vanished, and he told her everything he knew.

After saying that, he looked at her with a pleading expression, as if seeking praise.

After hearing what He Xiao said, Shen Linyue had already stopped in her tracks. He Xiao had mentioned her father, and although it was only a few words, it still made her thoughts race and her throat dry.

"How is your grandfather now? Is he in good health? Has he remarried all these years?" Shen Linyue asked, unaware of the nervousness in her voice.

Since she returned to this world, she had thought about contacting her father, but she didn't know how long she could stay in this world, and many things were holding her back, suppressing all her longing for her father.

He Xiao looked at Shen Linyue strangely, "Why are you so concerned about my grandfather?"

Shen Linyue took a breath and smiled, "Just a few words of concern. After all, he's my mother's ex-husband, so we're relatives."

This explanation seems even stranger.

Fortunately, He Xiao didn't think too much about it. His expression softened and he said, "Yes, my grandfather is in good health. He has a check-up every year and is very healthy. He is very happy living alone."

Hearing He Xiao say this, Shen Linyue finally felt relieved, and the smile on her face softened considerably.

"As long as you are in good health."

He Xiao didn't glean any other meaning from Shen Linyue's words, and raised an eyebrow, saying, "If you want to go to Nanshi, I can take you there when you have a holiday. No need for that Li guy to invite you."

Shen Linyue smiled and said, "Sure, I'm looking forward to it."

How could I not look forward to it? That's where she was born.

...

Every day thereafter was filled with classes and practice problems, as well as time for rehearsals.

Shen Linyue's character enjoys wielding swords and knives. Although her props are not real, many scenes require physical strength.

To this end, she even customized a workout plan for herself, running and lifting weights for half an hour every day after returning home.

That afternoon, rehearsals were in session as usual. Shen Linyue had just stepped off the stage when she received a call from He Liyu.

She was a little surprised to see He Liyu's call; the two mainly communicated via WeChat and rarely talked on the phone.

He Liyu went on a business trip again on Monday, and the two hadn't seen each other for three days.

He hesitated for two seconds before answering the phone: "He Liyu?"

"Hmm, how have your studies been lately?" The man's voice rang out quickly, but it was more husky and magnetic than usual.

Shen Linyue felt something was off but couldn't quite put her finger on it, so she obediently answered his question: "It's alright. Why did you suddenly call me?"

The man was silent for a moment, then chuckled softly, accompanied by a cough: "I heard from the housekeeper that you've been on a diet lately?"

Shen Linyue: ?

She's talking nonsense about when she started dieting.

"I'm not dieting. I'm just eating a balanced diet. I eat all the carbohydrates and meat." I also eat small cakes, just not as many as before.

That's probably what aroused Xiao Bo's suspicion. He's really too concerned about her to think straight, and even if he explains, he'll still think she's just putting on a brave face.

Shen Linyue felt helpless about this.

He Liyu could roughly guess what was going on, and smiled in a good mood: "Yes, take care and get some rest. How's the rehearsal going?"

"If everything goes smoothly, will you come to the school anniversary celebration?" Shen Linyue asked hesitantly.

After a moment of silence, the man coughed faintly again. He smiled and said, trying to suppress his anger, "I think so. Are you trying to invite me?"

"He Liyu, are you sick?" Shen Linyue noticed something was wrong. The first time, she could mistake it for him choking on phlegm, but the second time it couldn't be that.

He Liyu paused, then said in a low voice, "No, Ayue, I'm fine. If you invite me, I'll definitely have time that day."

As the man spoke, Shen Linyue's attention was diverted. She coughed lightly and said, "Alright, then consider this my invitation."

A man's low chuckle came from the other end of the line. Shen Linyue felt inexplicably shy, and just as she was about to say something more, He Liyu spoke up again.

"Ah Yue, I have something to do here, I'll have to talk to you later."

As soon as Shen Linyue hung up the phone and looked up, a figure rushed towards her at lightning speed.

"Lin Yue! Watch out!"

...

The assistant pushed open the door and saw the boss sitting on the edge of the bed with his phone in his hand, a smile still lingering on his lips.

It seems that ever since that young woman surnamed Lin came, the boss has often adopted this relaxed demeanor.

"Boss, here's the medicine you ordered."

He Liyu's smile vanished, and he returned to his usual aloof demeanor. He coughed a few times, then reached out and knocked over a glass on the table, spilling water all over the floor.

The assistant was also taken aback for a moment, then quickly said, "I'll go find someone to clean it up."

He Liyu merely frowned slightly, his eyes calm as he asked his assistant, "Have you found everyone I asked you to find?"
