Chapter 36 Eggplant for Gold Ingots

The head cook laughed and scolded, "You brat, you're the wild boar!"

The others couldn't help but burst into laughter, and the squad leader shouted, "Everyone in the cooking squad!"

A loud and clear "Here!" rang out.

Squad Leader: "Now, let's all thank Battalion Commander Rong."

"Thank you, Battalion Commander Rong!" the cooks shouted in unison, their voices loud and clear, seemingly about to pierce the sky, their gratitude overflowing.

Rong Lianhu stood by the car with a smile on his face. He waved his hand and said, "Stop with the formalities, everyone hurry up and move the things inside. I have a mission to take back."

Actually, although these things seem like a lot, there are thousands of people in a brigade, and everyone can only get a bowl of soup and two pieces of meat.

The soldiers immediately sprang into action, some grabbing ropes, others searching for tools, and soon unloaded the wild boar and goats from the vehicle.

The cook squad leader walked up to Rong Lianhu and said with emotion, "Thank you, Battalion Commander Rong. The brothers haven't seen meat in a long time, and everyone is craving it."

Rong Lianhu looked at the soldiers who were as happy as if it were New Year's Day, but he felt uneasy. Before, fighting everywhere meant poor food and sleep. Now that things were just starting to improve, the drought had begun. He hoped that God wouldn't be too cruel and that there wouldn't be another drought next year.

Pulling myself out of my thoughts, I saw that the prey had been moved, so I said "Let's go" to everyone and climbed into the car.

The cooks saluted him in unison, as a gesture of gratitude from everyone in the area.

Rong Lianhu returned the greeting from inside the car and then drove away.

When Rong Lianhu returned to the Third Regiment, the regimental commander had already organized the training exercises for the Second and Third Battalions.

Although no one knew why they were suddenly being sent to the deep mountains and forests for training, soldiers' duty is to obey orders and follow commands, so they assembled very quickly.

Rong Lianhu saw that Song Qiming was fully prepared and ready to go, and the soldiers were also lined up neatly, waiting to depart.

He strode over to Song Qiming, saluted, and said, "Commander, I'm ready and can depart at any time."

Song Qiming nodded and said, "Alright, everyone, let's go!"

He waved his hand, and led the second and third battalions to move quickly towards the valley.

The battalion that was left behind in training couldn't understand why the Third Regiment wasn't taken along on their training exercise.

Unaware of this, Rong Lianhu led his soldiers, carrying their packs, in neat rows, and marched swiftly along the mountain path.

Although the sun was high in the sky, everyone knew that the training in the deep mountains would be tough, but the chance to hunt prey for a treat was high morale.

Rong Lianhu walked at the front of the group, occasionally turning back to check on their progress.

"Lianhu, this mission is no simple matter. Is that place safe?" Song Qiming asked in a low voice as he walked beside Rong Lianhu.

It's safe to say that every soldier knew about the Japanese army's biological and chemical experiments.

Rong Lianhu understood that he was worried about a gas leak that could harm his brothers.

He nodded confidently and said, "Commander, I've already been there. Although it was somewhat dangerous, Master Qingxuanzi has set up a sealing formation, so there won't be any problems for the time being."

"A professional team will be here soon. All we need to do is cordon off the area and ensure the safety of the surroundings."

Song Qiming nodded and said, "That's good. I don't want to see my brothers die in agony right before my eyes."

Rong Lianhu understood his feelings, gave him a reassuring look, and continued forward.

In town, Qing Xuanzi finished his meal and settled Rong Jiaojiao in the shade under the eaves. He then tossed out two pheasants, intending to clean them and stew them later. He planned to inform Fu Ya in the afternoon to bring her two sons over for a meal after get off work.

Although the military will probably distribute some meat to the canteen in the family compound today, there are too many people and not enough meat, so each person will definitely only get a few pieces. It's better to let them come here for a good meal.

He threw out three pheasants, which were still as fresh as if they had just been collected yesterday. He turned his head and saw Rong Jiaojiao staring straight at him.

Qing Xuanzi's heart stirred, and he kept throwing things out of the ground and then picking them up again.

Rong Jiaojiao was dazzled by the sight. Before long, things appeared out of thin air around her, including the flowers and plants that she couldn't get yesterday and that had disappeared, as well as wild vegetables and wild eggs.

Qing Xuanzi even saw the Ganoderma lucidum she had put away, but the spiritual energy on it was gone, though the medicinal properties remained.

Qing Xuanzi had a bold guess: of the things Rong Jiaojiao took, those with roots would be planted in immortal artifacts, while those that couldn't be planted and were useful would have their spiritual energy absorbed and then be discarded at will, just like this Ganoderma lucidum.

Thinking this, he threw out some more things—a pot, a bowl, and chopsticks—and then looked expectantly at Rong Jiaojiao.

As expected, the little guy did not disappoint him. He then threw out a few more leaves and looked at Qing Xuanzi expectantly with his big, dark eyes.

Qing Xuanzi threw out more things: a brush, ink, paper, and inkstone. Rong Jiaojiao threw out a few leaves.

Qing Xuanzi...

I forgot how many days it took, but the little girl collected countless leaves along the way.

He took out something different: several gleaming gold ingots.

The little girl's eyes lit up. Instead of throwing things out, she used her divine sense to pull the gold ingot.

Qing Xuanzi refused to give it to her, pulling and tugging at her back and forth. Even though the little girl was about to cry, he remained unmoved.

At this moment, the little girl had a big eggplant in her hand, which was purplish-black.

The little girl laboriously stretched out both hands towards Qing Xuanzi, making "ah ah" sounds to indicate her presence.

Qing Xuanzi guessed that this little girl was trying to trade eggplants for gold with him?

Upon hearing this idea, Qing Xuanzi quickly shook his head. The little guy wasn't that smart, was he?

However, he still wanted to try. He took a gold ingot, and after receiving the eggplant from her, he still didn't give her the gold ingot, and continued to reach out to her.

The little girl was fuming, and the next second, a whole bunch of eggplants fell down with a 'plop plop plop'.

Before long, a hundred or so eggplants of all sizes fell to the ground, some weighing half a pound or a pound, others only the size of a fingertip. She had probably picked all the eggplants from the treasure vessel.

Seeing Qing Xuanzi in a daze, Rong Jiaojiao immediately reached out her hand, ah ah.

Qing Xuanzi stopped teasing her and gave her a gold ingot. He wanted to train her slowly and get her to take out more things from the treasure.

Seeing that Rong Jiaojiao was about to put the gold ingot into her mouth, he quickly put a layer of protection on the gold so that she couldn't bite it. Only then did he put away the eggplant and the things on the ground and go to bleed and pluck the pheasant.

After finishing her work and stewing the pheasant, she made milk powder for Rong Jiaojiao, held the milk powder in her hand, and reached out to Rong Jiaojiao.

The next moment, he had several leaves in his hand.

Qing Xuanzi...

There's been progress; they now know to put things in their own hands.

However, he threw away the leaf, shook the bottle, and continued to reach out.

Suddenly, my hand felt heavy; there was an eggplant vine with many flowers and a few eggplants the size of my fingertips.
