Zi Ling jumped into Fu Ya's arms, her tail gently patting Fu Ya's arm to soothe her nervousness.
"Mom and Dad, hold on tight!" Rong Jiaojiao said softly, ending her invisibility spell.
Rong Lianhu gripped Fu Ya's hand tightly, both of them feeling both nervous and expectant. Rong Lianhu then said, "It's ready!"
As soon as he finished speaking, the flying sword slowly rose into the air, ascending several dozen meters into the sky, and flew towards the valley in his memory.
Fu Ya instinctively grabbed her husband's arm, watching with a mixture of surprise and delight as the ground rapidly shrank, and the distant mountains unfolded in her field of vision like an ink painting.
"I never imagined riding a flying sword would be like this! There's no jolting or dizziness!" Rong Lianhu gripped the edge of the flying sword tightly, his face beaming with excitement.
Amidst the howling wind, Rong Jiaojiao patiently explained while manipulating the flying sword: "Mom and Dad, don't be nervous. I've set up a barrier around us. It can not only block the wind but also protect you. Even if you lose your balance, you won't fall off."
Hearing this, Fu Ya immediately relaxed a lot and said, "That's good, then I can enjoy the view below."
The flying sword swept across the winding river, over mountains and towns.
Before long, Rong Jiaojiao pointed to the town below and said with a smile, "Look, that's Anyang Town. We'll reach the valley a little further ahead."
Fu Ya looked in the direction she was pointing and saw that it was indeed Anyang Town. She said, "Your master still has a courtyard in the town. I wonder how it is now."
Rong Jiaojiao shook her head: "Master probably doesn't want it anymore!"
After flying for another ten minutes or so, over one high mountain after another, and flying deeper and deeper into the mountains, Fu Ya's eyes welled up with tears. Her daughter was really so lonely at that time.
As the outline of the valley became clearer in her field of vision, Rong Jiaojiao slowed down.
The flying sword slowly landed outside the stone house courtyard. Because Qing Xuanzi had set up an array before leaving, the courtyard was still intact.
Rong Jiaojiao broke the spell and invited her parents inside. She showed them around the courtyard and then took them outside to see the outside.
Rong Jiaojiao pointed to the fields below: "That's where rice is grown, and over there is a field for corn, and over there are fields for vegetables."
She then pointed to the distant cliffs and said, "That's where my brothers and I practiced cliff climbing," and pointed to the wooden stakes not far away, "That's where we practiced on the live stakes."
As she pointed, Rong Lianhu and Fu Ya seemed to see their daughter's small figure training hard in various venues.
Rong Lianhu's Adam's apple bobbed, his voice slightly hoarse: "You were only this tall back then..."
He gestured to his waist, his gaze sweeping over his daughter's now upright figure, a ripple of emotion welling up in his eyes.
Fu Ya gently wiped her eyes and hugged her daughter: "I'm sorry, your dad wasn't able to protect you, and my Jiaojiao suffered."
Rong Jiaojiao hugged her back: "Mom, you're all doing this for my own good. My master has already explained everything about me. I should thank you for finding such a good master for me."
Fu Ya sighed and said, "We had no other choice at the time. We just hoped that you could cultivate well with your master and grow up to protect yourself. We never expected that you would become so powerful and have such a cute and powerful partner as Zi Ling."
Zi Ling snuggled against Rong Jiaojiao and made a "squeak" sound, seemingly responding to Fu Ya's words.
Looking around at the surroundings, Rong Lianhu sighed, "Although this place is remote, the environment is excellent and very suitable for cultivation. Your master is truly a thoughtful person."
Rong Jiaojiao smiled and said, "My master is very good to me. He makes meat for me to eat every day."
Fu Ya laughed out loud: "When you were two or three years old, if I asked you what you wanted to eat, you would immediately say chicken legs."
Rong Jiaojiao laughed and said, "I still like to eat it now."
Rong Lianhu said, "How about we go hunting in the mountains and make you chicken soup when we get back tonight?"
Rong Jiaojiao shook her head to stop him: "Dad, I keep chickens, rabbits, and spirit fish in my treasure."
"It'll be noon soon, how about we get a barbecue before heading back?"
Fu Ya's eyes lit up: "Great! I haven't had barbecue in ages."
Rong Lianhu nodded, "That's a good idea, let's have a meal here."
Rong Jiaojiao smiled and said, "Then let's begin now."
She took out pots, pans, a barbecue grill, and even firewood from her treasure trove.
Seeing his parents' stunned expressions, he laughed and said, "This was used on the Immortal Mountain. My master told me to bring it down with me when I came down the mountain."
Rong Lianhu nodded: "Come on, take out the chicken and the rabbit, I'll take care of them."
Rong Jiaojiao didn't use magic to deal with it; instead, she worked with her parents, enjoying the fun of preparing food together. She took out several chickens and rabbits from the magical artifact and placed them on the ground.
Rong Lianhu picked up a small knife and skillfully began to process the chicken and rabbit, while Fu Ya helped clean them.
The three chatted and laughed, and soon the chicken and rabbit were cleaned. Rong Jiaojiao cut them into pieces and skewered them on bamboo sticks.
She took out some seasonings from the treasure container, sprinkled them on the ingredients, and marinated them for a while.
"These seasonings were also given to me by my master. They are all made from powdered spiritual plants, and they smell especially delicious," Rong Jiaojiao said.
Fu Ya picked up a piece of marinated chicken, smelled it, and exclaimed, "It really smells delicious, much better than ordinary seasonings."
Rong Lianhu nodded: "Your master dotes on you and has prepared everything for you."
Rong Jiaojiao nodded in agreement: "Master really loves me. He said that it is also important to enjoy life in addition to cultivation, so he prepares everything for me."
Soon, the barbecue grill was set up. Rong Lianhu went to grill the meat, Fu Ya stewed the soup, and Rong Jiaojiao took out cabbage leaves to wrap the grilled meat later.
Lunch began amidst laughter and cheerful conversation.
Rong Lianhu skillfully grilled the meat, turning the bamboo skewers from time to time to ensure that each side was grilled to a golden brown and crispy.
Fu Ya was simmering chicken soup in a small pot next to her, and the aroma filled the air.
They stayed in the valley until the afternoon before reluctantly turning back. On the way back, the couple were no longer afraid and instead discussed the scenery below with great interest.
Seeing that her parents were clearly in a good mood, Rong Jiaojiao suggested, "Let's go out and play more often when we have time, it'll make us happy!"
Rong Lianhu agreed, and Fu Ya chimed in, "We'll come again when you have time."
"good!"
The day after returning home, Rong Lianhu and Fu Ya went back to work, while Rong Jiaojiao continued to stay home and cultivate.
Rong Jiaojiao waited for more than ten days before her master finally arrived.
When Rong Jiaojiao was told to go to the door to pick up her master, she saw that he wasn't alone; Wei Jingqi and Xiang Ruyi were also with him.
Rong Jiaojiao ran to Qing Xuanzi's side and said in a coquettish tone, "Master, why did you take so long to arrive?"
Qing Xuanzi smiled and said, "Something came up in the capital and I was delayed."
Rong Jiaojiao then greeted Wei Jingqi and Xiang Ruyi, who were smiling at them, saying, "Hello, you two!"
