Chapter 277 Arrival at the Base

After a few more people boarded, Yang Jianguo and his group hurriedly squeezed onto the bus with their large bags and small packages.

Rong Jiaojiao asked in surprise, "Sister Jianguo, are you taking this train too?"

Yang Jianguo was also very happy. She put her luggage on the shelf, ran over and stood next to Rong Jiaojiao, saying, "I didn't expect we would be going in the same direction."

Xiang Lan asked, "Where were you sent to work in the countryside?"

Yang Jianguo said, "We were in Liyang Town, the Red Flag Brigade went to the countryside."

What Yang Jianguo didn't say was that her hometown was Liyang Town, and the reason she went to Hongqi Brigade for rural work was because she had relatives there.

Xiang Lan nodded: "It's not close at all. It takes more than an hour to get to the town over there."

Yang Jianguo was still very happy, because it would be convenient for her to visit Rong Jiaojiao in the future.

Soon, Rong Jiaojiao and her group arrived at their destination. Rong Jiaojiao gave her seat to Yang Jianguo and then got off the bus.

After getting off the bus, I saw a dirt road leading inward, with scattered bungalows on both sides, and some military camp buildings in the distance.

Rong Jiaojiao knew that this was the road leading to the 56th Division's headquarters.

"Aunt Xiang, is this the road to the army?" Rong Jiaojiao asked, pointing to the dirt road.

Xiang Lan nodded: "That's right, it'll only take about ten minutes to get there if we follow this road. Let's go!"

After saying that, he started walking ahead. Rong Jiaojiao quickly stepped forward to help Xiang Lan carry her things, while Sang Hua followed behind carrying his large cloth bag.

Upon arriving at the sentry post, Rong Jiaojiao said to Xiang Lan, "Aunt Xiang, you go back first. I'll have my uncles notify my father to come pick me up, otherwise I won't be able to get home."

Wang Ping said, "Your house is right next to ours, why don't you come to my house first?"

Rong Jiaojiao looked at Sang Hua, who shook his head: "I have other things to do and cannot stay here."

Wang Ping smiled and said, "Alright, Jiaojiao, come over for dinner tonight. Your aunt will cook you something delicious."

"Okay, thank you, Auntie!"

Rong Jiaojiao smiled and nodded, then turned to the soldier in the sentry post and said, "Uncle, please inform my father, Rong Lianhu, that his daughter Rong Jiaojiao has returned and ask him to come and confirm that it is indeed her."

After she finished speaking, Xiang Lan and the others next to her couldn't help but burst into laughter.

Someone remarked, "Looks like he's a mischievous one!"

Everyone nodded and entered the family compound, chatting and laughing.

The soldier looked at Rong Jiaojiao and nodded: "Okay, wait a moment." After saying that, he picked up the walkie-talkie and notified the people inside.

Rong Jiaojiao stood outside the sentry post, feeling both nervous and expectant.

She hasn't seen her parents for a long time, and she doesn't know if she can still be close to them.

Not long after, a series of hurried footsteps could be heard from inside.

Rong Jiaojiao looked up and saw her father, dressed in military uniform, running out quickly.

His face showed a look of surprise, and when he saw Rong Jiaojiao, he immediately quickened his pace.

"Jiaojiao! My daughter!" her father shouted, rushing over and hugging Rong Jiaojiao tightly.

Rong Jiaojiao hugged Rong Lianhu tightly in return: "Dad, I'm back. Are you happy?"

Rong Lianhu nodded repeatedly: "Happy, how could I not be happy? Your mother and I have been looking forward to your return every day!"

Rong Jiaojiao said happily, "Dad, I might be staying here with you for a long time this time."

Rong Lianhu was even more delighted and released him to confirm, "Really?"

Rong Jiaojiao nodded vigorously: "Really!"

"Great, great, your mother will be even happier."

Rong Jiaojiao remembered that Sang Hua was still waiting, so she tugged at Rong Lianhu: "Dad, this is Brother Sang Hua. He brought me back."

Rong Lianhu quickly stood up and reached out his hand: "Thank you, comrade, for helping us bring the child back."

Sang Hua wasn't used to shaking hands with people, but she still reached out and touched his hand, saying, "No need to be polite. I was just doing this for someone. Now that I've delivered it, I have other things to do, so I'll be leaving now."

Rong Lianhu quickly said, "Comrade Sang, why don't you stay for a meal before you leave?"

Sang Hua shook his head, determined to leave, so Rong Jiaojiao took out a spatial talisman and gave it to him.

“Brother Sanghua, here are some snacks from the mountains. Take them back and keep them for yourself if you think they're okay. If you don't like them, you can give them away.”

Sang Hua did not refuse when he heard that it was just some food. After putting it away, she turned and left.

Rong Lianhu pulled her along and asked, "Jiaojiao, you haven't eaten yet, have you? Come on, let's go to the cafeteria!"

"Dad, aren't you still on duty?"

"No need, I took leave before I came."

Rong Jiaojiao's gaze fell on the large cloth bag and she said, "Dad, let's go home. I'll cook you something delicious."

Rong Lianhu's first reaction wasn't happiness, but surprise: "Your master is willing to let you cook for yourself?"

Rong Jiaojiao knew he was worried about her, so she tugged at his sleeve and said, "Dad, let's talk about it when we get home."

"walk!"

He picked up Rong Jiaojiao's cloth bag; it was light and flimsy, as if it contained only some clothes.

On the way, Rong Jiaojiao asked about her two older brothers. Rong Lianhu proudly said, "Your eldest brother has been selected for the field army's special forces. If you miss him, you can go see him."

"Your second brother just enlisted and we don't know where he'll be assigned yet, but with his physique, he'll definitely be fine."

Rong Jiaojiao agreed. When they parted ways, her two older brothers were already in the late stage of martial arts. Several years later, they were at least at the warrior level.

As they spoke, they entered the family compound, which consisted of rows of single-story tile-roofed houses with small courtyards, and several two-story buildings near the barracks.

Everyone he met along the way greeted Rong Lianhu, and Rong Jiaojiao also recognized people as she went.

As I arrived at my own door, I overheard Wang Ping's voice from next door, clearly scolding her child.

Rong Lianhu smiled, clearly already used to it.

Rong Jiaojiao looked at the layout of the courtyard. There were three main rooms, one of which was used as the main hall and the other two as bedrooms.

There is a side room on the east side, which is also used as a bedroom, and a kitchen on the west side. There is no bathroom.

Rong Lianhu said, "From now on, you will live in the west room, and your mother and I will live in the east room."

Rong Jiaojiao had no objections; she was fine with staying anywhere.

Rong Lianhu put her cloth bag in the west room, then went to the kitchen and said, "Let Dad cook for you. What would you like to eat?"

Rong Jiaojiao smiled slyly and said, "Dad, let's eat what's ready-made."

"What's readily available?"

Rong Jiaojiao waved her hand, and all sorts of cooked food were laid out on the table, including steamed buns and fruits.

Rong Lianhu glared and looked outside. He only breathed a sigh of relief when he saw that no one was around.

"You brat, you're always scaring people. You can put it away for now, just leave the food for the two of us."

Rong Jiaojiao obediently put the things away, leaving some behind, but it was clearly not enough for the two of them to finish.

Seeing that her father was still watching her, Rong Jiaojiao released Ziling and said, "It wants to eat too."

As soon as Zi Ling came out, it squeaked and looked at Rong Lian Hu warily.
