Chapter 168 Old Wu

The girl gave Qing Xuanzi a grateful look, and Qing Xuanzi simply nodded, picked up Rong Jiaojiao, sat down, and gently patted her back to let her continue to rest.

Seeing that he didn't want to talk to her, the girl had no choice but to shut up. But she didn't dare to sleep, and just watched helplessly until dawn.

Rong Jiaojiao slept soundly in Qing Xuanzi's arms. When she woke up, she seemed to have forgotten everything from yesterday. She softly called out "Master" and looked around. When her gaze fell on the older sister opposite her, she also called out "Sister".

The girl looked exhausted, her eyes bloodshot, but her eyes lit up when she saw Rong Jiaojiao wake up.

Qing Xuanzi patted Rong Jiaojiao, took her to the restroom, and bought her food. Soon the train arrived at Bingshi Station.

Qing Xuanzi picked up Rong Jiaojiao, and the girl stood up and followed him closely.

Qing Xuanzi glanced at her without saying a word. Not far from the car door, the girl saw the person who was supposed to pick her up, ran over, and threw herself into his arms, bursting into tears.

Seeing that the girl was safe, Qing Xuanzi carried Rong Jiaojiao away from the train station.

By the time the girl realized what was happening and wanted to thank Qing Xuanzi, he had already walked away with Rong Jiaojiao.

With no one around, Qing Xuanzi said, "Jiaobao, did Master tell you not to take things out from outside?"

Rong Jiaojiao blinked, puzzled, and asked, "Master, Baby didn't take anything!"

"Then where did you get the stone you used to hit the bad guys yesterday?"

Rong Jiaojiao patted her pocket and took out the pebble: "Big brother gave it to me, I put it in my pocket."

Qing Xuanzi paused for a moment, wondering why he hadn't felt any discomfort from holding her all day.

He didn't sense any fluctuations in Rong Jiaojiao's spiritual consciousness, but he still looked at her suspiciously: [Could it be that she transferred it directly from the treasure artifact into my pocket, which is why I can't sense it?]

But then I thought that Rong Jiaojiao was so young, she definitely wouldn't lie to me, otherwise she'd be a spirit by now.

Thinking that he might have missed it, he stopped thinking about it and took her out of the station.

The station plaza was bustling with people. Passengers carrying bags and suitcases hurried along, their faces showing the weariness of their journey and their eagerness to return home.

At this moment, Rong Jiaojiao suddenly turned around, hugged Qing Xuanzi's neck tightly, her small body trembling, and her clear eyes were filled with fear.

A child's voice trembled and choked with sobs: "Master, there's something for me to eat..."

These words echoed in Qing Xuanzi's ears, instantly turning his calm expression fierce.

Qing Xuanzi's divine sense, like an invisible net, instantly enveloped the entire plaza.

His gaze became deep and sharp, piercing through the crowd and discerning all the dangers hidden in the shadows.

Everything in the square was within his perception; every corner, every shadow, had nowhere to hide.

His divine sense darted through the crowd, searching for the aura that made Rong Jiaojiao uneasy.

Finally, in a corner of the square, he discovered something unusual.

There, a seemingly ordinary middle-aged man stood in the crowd, his eyes empty and cold, devoid of any human emotion.

A chilling aura emanated from his body, as if he were an evil spirit crawling out from the depths of hell.

Qing Xuanzi frowned slightly. He could sense that this man was emanating a strong evil aura, just like the demon spirit he had encountered in the mountains.

Just as Qing Xuanzi spotted him, he turned around and disappeared behind the obstacle.

Qing Xuanzi's divine sense locked onto him, and his body instantly transformed into a faint shadow, quietly following behind.

He didn't disturb anyone, simply moving through the crowd like a wandering ghost.

Rong Jiaojiao hugged Qing Xuanzi's neck tightly and buried her head deep in the crook of his neck.

The middle-aged man seemed to have noticed that they were following him, or perhaps he was deliberately trying to lead Qing Xuanzi to follow him.

Finally, the man entered a secluded alleyway, and his figure disappeared from Qing Xuanzi's consciousness.

Qing Xuanzi was shocked. What kind of technique was this that could shield his divine sense?

His eyes remained alert as he scanned his surroundings. Although the middle-aged man had disappeared into the alley, he could sense that the evil aura had not completely vanished, but was lurking in some corner, waiting for an opportunity.

Qing Xuanzi realized this as well. He hesitated for a moment, then turned and left.

He also brought Rong Jiaojiao with him, not daring to take any risks, and decided to go to the shop where they had bought the talisman paper first, to ask the National Metaphysics Group for help.

Holding Rong Jiaojiao in his arms, he quickly turned and left, heading in the direction he remembered.

As they turned around, the man reappeared at the alley entrance, revealing a sinister smile, and said in a voice they could hear, "You can't escape."

Immediately afterwards, the figure emerged from the alley and returned to the train station square.

"Master, where are we going?"

Rong Jiaojiao's voice was soft, and her little hands gripped Qing Xuanzi's clothes tightly, seeking a sense of security from her master.

Qing Xuanzi gently comforted her, "Don't be afraid, we'll go to a safe place."

"Mmm." Rong Jiaojiao nodded and rested her head on Qing Xuanzi's shoulder. Although she could still feel the creepy feeling that something bad wanted to eat her, she felt a little more at ease being held by her master.

Qing Xuanzi arrived at the secondhand market, but without looking at anything else along the way, he went straight to the secondhand shop at the end of the market.

The shop was still dark and gloomy, but there was someone guarding it today.

A middle-aged man who looked somewhat weathered sat behind the counter, intently wiping an old bronze mirror.

Hearing the doorbell ring, he looked up, his gaze sweeping over Qing Xuanzi and Rong Jiaojiao. Sensing that both Qing Xuanzi and Rong Jiaojiao were members of the Xuanmen sect, he paused for a moment, then smiled.

"I wonder what you've come here to buy?" His voice was deep and gentle.

"Fellow Daoist!" Qing Xuanzi nodded slightly and said in a serious tone, "I originally came here to buy talisman paper, but I have an urgent matter to report to you now."

Upon hearing this, the man understood that the man knew this was a stronghold of the National Mystic Sect.

He put down the bronze mirror in his hand, and his expression became serious: "My name is Lao Wu. May I ask your name, friend, and what has happened?"

Qing Xuanzi introduced himself: "My name is Qing Xuanzi."

Old Wu exclaimed in surprise: "Qing Xuanzi, the talisman-making genius of the Xuanqing Sect?"

Qing Xuanzi nodded, and Old Wu's eyes lit up, but now was not the time for pleasantries. He said, "Please tell me what happened, Fellow Daoist Qing Xuanzi!"

Qing Xuanzi hummed in agreement and then briefly recounted what had just happened, including the middle-aged man's unusual behavior and Rong Jiaojiao's reaction.
