Rong Jiaojiao sat next to Qing Xuanzi, curiously looking around at everything.
Listening to the unfamiliar accents as they talked about all sorts of trivial matters, I found it all very interesting.
Qing Xuanzi smiled slightly, looking at her curious and excited appearance, as if he were seeing himself when he first entered the city.
As the bus slowly entered the capital, the scene on both sides of the street gradually became lively.
The houses here are quite different from those she'd seen in Bing City, but they're just as lively, even more so.
The ancient city walls appear even more solemn under the test of time, and the red flags hanging on the city gate towers flutter gently in the breeze.
On the streets, most people wore blue, gray, or black clothes, with some wearing Zhongshan suits or Lenin suits. They rode bicycles through the crowd, their bicycle bells ringing incessantly, as if playing a cheerful melody.
Qing Xuanzi led Rong Jiaojiao out of the car and they walked on the bustling street. Rong Jiaojiao felt that she couldn't take it all in.
Seeing that it was getting late, Qing Xuanzi found an old-fashioned noodle shop by the roadside. After eating with Rong Jiaojiao, they hailed a pedicab.
"Master, go to Xuanqingzhai in the antique street."
The rickshaw driver was a middle-aged man wearing a faded blue short-sleeved shirt. He replied, "Okay, please sit down."
He started pedaling the bike, his signature smile on his face, chatting with Qing Xuanzi as he pedaled.
"The antique street is so lively, it's full of antiques and trinkets. Are you going there to hunt for treasures or to sell things?"
"No, we're looking for someone."
Qing Xuanzi answered with a faint smile, glancing at Rong Jiaojiao.
As soon as Rong Jiaojiao got into the rickshaw, she touched and bumped around, curiously examining the novel tricycle.
"This child is so cute, with such a blessed look on her face," the driver said, glancing back at Rong Jiaojiao.
These days, very few people can raise a child to be so fair-skinned and chubby.
Upon hearing the compliment, Rong Jiaojiao immediately thanked him, saying, "Thank you for the compliment, Uncle!"
Her chubby face with its curved eyebrows and eyes made her even more endearing.
"Haha, no need to thank me. The little girl is very lively. Is this your first time in the capital?" The driver pedaled the tricycle without even panting and laughed heartily.
“Yes, she grew up in the mountains and rarely came out. She is very curious about the outside world,” Qing Xuanzi explained.
"Oh, then coming to the capital to broaden your horizons is the right thing to do. This place has everything and is very lively!" the coachman said enthusiastically. "Young lady, once you get to the capital, you must go out and explore. There are many meaningful places here."
Rong Jiaojiao looked at her master with bright, sparkling eyes: "Master?"
Seeing the expectant look in her eyes, Qing Xuanzi smiled and nodded: "Master will not only take Jiao Bao with him, but also take pictures of her!"
What is a photograph?
Believe it or not, Rong Jiaojiao is four years old, but she has never had her picture taken.
The driver enthusiastically explained, "A photograph is when a machine 'freezes' the image of a person or thing, turning it into a small piece of paper with your image on it, like a drawing, but it's not drawn; it's taken with a camera." The driver explained vividly, occasionally gesturing with his hands.
Rong Jiaojiao's eyes lit up: "Wow, that's amazing! It sounds just like the painting Master drew for Jiaojiao. Master, we must go and take pictures!"
Qing Xuanzi smiled and nodded: "Okay, we'll take pictures when we have time, and capture all the beautiful scenery of the capital."
"Me too!" Rong Jiaojiao added excitedly, waving her little hands. "I want to take lots and lots of pictures to show my brothers when we get back!"
"Haha, okay, and you too!" Qing Xuanzi laughed and ruffled her hair. "You're so cute, the photos will definitely turn out especially good."
"Then I should wear pretty clothes?" Rong Jiaojiao tilted her head, thinking seriously.
"Of course, my little darling is already very beautiful, and she'll be even more beautiful with a little dressing up!" Qing Xuanzi said with a smile, his eyes full of affection.
Amidst laughter and conversation, the rickshaw stopped at the entrance of the antique street.
The place is bustling with people, with antique stalls and shops lining the streets, and an ancient and rustic atmosphere permeating the air.
"We're here. This is the antique street." The driver stopped the carriage and said with a smile, "Young lady, you should take a good look around here. You might find something interesting!"
Rong Jiaojiao jumped out of the car eagerly, her eyes full of wonder: "Thank you, Uncle!"
Qing Xuanzi paid the fare and took Rong Jiaojiao's hand as they walked into the antique street.
Rong Jiaojiao's eyes were drawn to all the antique shops; she kept looking around so much that she was almost overwhelmed.
Qing Xuanzi led Rong Jiaojiao straight to Xuanqingzhai, which was located not far from the main street.
The Xuanqing Sect originally opened this antique shop here mainly to understand the changes in the secular world and to provide a convenient place for disciples who went down the mountain to train to contact the sect.
Now that the company has merged, the antique street has become a secondhand market in Beijing, and some shops have even closed their doors and are living in their shops.
Xuanqingzhai is one of the closed-off areas. There are still people living there now, but usually only a few disciples take turns guarding the stronghold.
Qing Xuanzi went up and knocked on the door. After knocking several times, he heard a woman's voice from inside: "Coming!"
Qing Xuanzi was taken aback: [How could it be Senior Sister's voice?]
The side door opened, revealing the face of a middle-aged beautiful woman who said with a grin, "Oh, it's been years! Junior Brother has finally shown his face?"
Immediately, her gaze fell on Rong Jiaojiao beside Qing Xuanzi, and her eyes lit up several degrees: "Is this your child? She's so beautiful!"
Qing Xuanzi smiled and shook his head, saying, "This is my disciple, Rong Jiaojiao."
He picked up Rong Jiaojiao and said, "Jiaojiao, this is your senior uncle Leng Muya. Call her senior uncle."
Rong Jiaojiao shyly whispered, "Hello, Uncle-Master," and then hid in Qing Xuanzi's arms.
"Oh, good, good, come in quickly, come in quickly, your senior uncle will get you something delicious."
The middle-aged woman warmly welcomed them inside, looking Rong Jiaojiao up and down as they walked. "This child is so pretty, she looks like a lucky girl."
Seeing Rong Jiaojiao's eyes sparkle as she looked at her after being praised, Leng Muya exclaimed, "Oh dear, this child is so well-behaved, she melts my heart." She smiled and patted Rong Jiaojiao's head, "Come on, don't hide in your master's arms, come and let your senior uncle take a good look at you."
Rong Jiaojiao sensed her kindness, peeked out, revealing a rosy little face with bright, lively eyes.
Leng Muya reached out her hand: "Come here, let your senior uncle give you a hug."
Rong Jiaojiao shook her head: "Uncle-Master, Jiaojiao is very heavy, she walked by herself."
"Heavy? You're so light, I could lift you up with just one finger," Leng Muya said with a smile, her tone full of affection. "Come here, let your senior uncle give you a hug, and I'll get you some candy."
