Hearing what his father said, Li Mingde immediately thought of what his grandmother had said before, that he should not tell others that he had meat at home, otherwise someone would come to snatch it away.
Combined with what his father had just said, Li Mingde was suddenly afraid that someone would come and snatch the rabbit. He hurriedly said, "No, I can't let anyone snatch my rabbit." Then he reached out to pull Sanmao's hand and said, "Let's go back quickly! We don't play here anymore!"
Before Sanmao could figure out what was going on, Li Mingde led him for a long distance, and the others followed closely behind. Sanmao knew that in this situation, it was useless to say anything, so he could only complain as he walked, and was still grumbling when he got home.
But no one cared about him. As soon as he entered the main room, Li Aiguo couldn't wait to open the basket and show Niu Cuihua today's harvest.
Niu Cuihua looked at the six rabbits and a pheasant in the basket, amazed. "Didn't we say we were going to play in the mountains? How did we catch these? Not to mention they're really big." Then she weighed the rabbits and pheasants in her hands. "Each one must be four or five pounds."
Li Aiguo said proudly, "That's right! I just saw this pheasant on the mountain and didn't want to chase it. I couldn't catch it anyway, but then I took a closer look and saw that it was a big one. I thought it would be a waste if I didn't catch it, so I caught it!"
Ermao interrupted and said, "Grandma, you don't know, I was the first to find the pheasant, and then we went to catch the pheasant and caught this nest of rabbits."
Li Mingde looked at Ermao with admiration, and said with great joy: "That's right, that's right, Brother Ermao is really amazing!"
Then he blinked his starry eyes and begged, "Grandma, let's eat meat today!"
Niu Cuihua smiled brightly, "Okay, we're in a good mood today, let's stew two rabbits and have a reunion dinner for everyone!" Then she took the basket and went to the kitchen, took out two rabbits and asked the fourth son's wife to clean them up, and then went back to the bedroom.
Li Mingxi took a look and followed him into the house.
"Grandma, look, I just picked these up on the mountain," he said as he took out ginseng and Ganoderma lucidum from his backpack.
Niu Cuihua originally thought that her granddaughter had picked up wild persimmons, kudzu roots or something, and didn't pay much attention to it. After all, these things were not rare for their family. In order not to disappoint the child, she planned to praise her when she took out something, but she saw that she took out a ginseng.
This shocked Niu Cuihua. Although she had never seen ginseng, she had heard that ginseng not only looked like a little man, but also had many whiskers on its body. Isn't that the thing in Xiaoxi's hand? She quickly took it.
"Oh my goodness, what is this? Old man, come and take a look!"
Old man Li was making a stool. When he heard this, he put down the wooden stick and walked over.
He stared at the thing in Niu Cuihua's hand, pondered for a moment, and slowly said, "This should be ginseng, right? It looks like it!"
Niu Cuihua retorted, "Of course it is," and then took the Ganoderma lucidum and examined it. "Then what is this? It looks like a mushroom. What kind of mushroom is it?"
Old man Li touched his chin, looking thoughtful. "I don't know either. I've never seen it."
Niu Cuihua said with a confident look, "Never mind, it must be a good thing anyway."
Then he looked at Li Mingxi expectantly, "My dear, where did you pick this up, Xiaoxi?"
Li Mingxi already knew Niu Cuihua would react like this, and looked confused. "I just picked it up by the tree, what's wrong with the milk?"
"It's nothing, Xiaoxi. You don't know, these two you picked up are really good things. In the past, the wives and masters of the government all ate them to nourish their bodies. It's just that our family can't use them. But tomorrow, ask your father to go to the county town and ask if he can sell them for a good price. Then we can save them for you."
When Li Mingxi heard that her grandmother wanted to sell the ginseng and Ganoderma lucidum, she immediately panicked. You know, she took so much effort to get this thing out, not to sell it for money. If the second uncle couldn't eat it, how would she take the opportunity to use the spiritual water? Wouldn't Yue Ze's spiritual power be wasted?
But the problem is that I haven't told anyone about my uncle's injury yet. I can't tell him directly, because then grandma will definitely be suspicious and wonder where it came from and why she picked it up out of all the people.
Then Li Mingxi had an idea and suggested: "Grandma, I don't want money. Didn't you say this is good for your health? Then just eat it yourself. It's just right for you and me to nourish our bodies."
When Niu Cuihua heard that she was going to eat it, she remembered that the second brother's body was damaged. Maybe this ginseng could nourish the second brother, so she thought about giving it to the second brother. But then she changed her mind and thought, although they are a family, this thing was picked up by Xiaoxi after all. She couldn't give it to the second brother without saying anything. She still had to tell the fourth brother.
So she said with a smile, "No, grandpa and grandma don't need it, but our Xiaoxi is really filial, grandma's love for you is not in vain."
Then he asked in a negotiating tone: "Can you leave this thing here with grandma first? Grandma has other uses for it."
Li Mingxi knew that grandma had already thought of this and that the ginseng could be used by Second Uncle, so he pretended to be nonchalant and said, "Okay, grandma, I don't need it anyway."
So after lunch, Niu Cuihua went to talk to Li Aiguo and Li Aidang about this matter. Li Aidang was not very happy to take this thing. After all, his body had been treated with all kinds of good things when he was in the military hospital. Besides, the doctor had made a final conclusion, so he felt there was no need to waste this ginseng.
Although I've definitely felt stronger these past two days, drinking some ginseng soup won't restore my strength. But my mother insisted, and fearing she'd be angry, Li Aidang had no choice but to agree.
Li Aiguo had originally suspected that something was wrong with his second brother's return. When he heard his mother say that his second brother was injured, he immediately became worried, "Second brother, why didn't you tell me earlier? I said I didn't see anything right with you these past few days. It turns out you were injured!"
Li Aidang touched his nose and said, "It's all in the past now. Besides, I'm fine here now!"
