Chapter 66 66 Unrequited Love

Chapter 66 66 Unrequited Love

"That's not what I meant," He Peiru quickly waved her hand and denied it, "I was just asking..."

"I know." Gu Zhaoqian seemed to enjoy teasing her like this, and never seemed to get tired of it.

He continued, "I know you wouldn't think that way."

And just as unchanged from his approach, Ho Pei-ju still doesn't know how to react.

It's as if everything around me is the same as always.

She now thinks this is not bad.

The car quickly arrived at Repulse Bay, and the driver drove smoothly into the Chiang family ancestral home, stopping at the closest point to the gate.

"I won't go in." Although Gu Zhaoqian said this, he still got out of the car to open the door for her, and after standing still, he said to her, "Good night."

He Peiru glanced at him, then immediately looked away and softly replied, "Goodnight."

Seeing no one else in the living room, she quickly went back to her room and then went to the balcony.

Sure enough, the car had just started moving.

Gu Zhaoqian probably left after seeing the light on in her room.

The embarrassment of revealing the truth left her nowhere to hide. She turned around and went back to her room, just about to close the balcony door, when her phone beeped with a new message notification.

Gu Zhaoqian: [I will definitely do whatever I promise you.]

He Peiru recalled the surprise when he unexpectedly brought it up, just when she thought he would forget.

However, her sense of pride prevented her from revealing the significance of these matters in her heart, so she simply avoided the topic altogether.

He Peiru: [I'm very happy tonight, thank you.]

Perhaps it was because the two of them had an impeccable understanding in this regard, or perhaps it was because Gu Zhaoqian understood He Peiru too well.

He did not force the conversation to continue.

Gu Zhaoqian: [Whatever makes you happy.]

Gu Zhaoqian: [I have other work to do next, see you on the day I leave for England.]

She didn't need to concern herself with work-related matters, so she gave a brief reply.

He Peiru: [Okay, I'll wait for your specific arrangements.]

She made her own arrangements for the remaining few days, and eventually met with Fang Xiaoxin and Feng Shiqi, and naturally they had endless topics to talk about.

Because they were living quite comfortably, time flew by.

He Peiru saw Gu Zhaoqian again a few days later.

This time, unlike when I was in the UK, I didn't feel a sense of unfamiliarity. Instead, because we had reconnected, we felt comfortable and natural with each other.

Gu Zhaoqian has done so much for her, she should reciprocate in due time.

The two, along with Sophia, were driven to the airport.

This time, the flight to the UK was not as silent as it had been on the way back to Hong Kong.

They didn't talk much about anything else after boarding the plane.

However, the two of them were much more natural with each other than before.

The catering is led by a head chef hired by Gu Zhaoqian, who is highly skilled in both Chinese cuisine and foreign dishes.

The flight attendants brought over the prepared meal as soon as the plane came to a stop.

As Gu Zhaoqian watched them make the arrangements, he said to He Peiru, "We were in a bit of a rush to board the plane, so I had the chef make some simple dishes that you like."

He added, "If there's anything you'd like to eat, just let the kitchen know. The plane has a wide variety of food available."

But when He Peiru looked at the sumptuous meal, she felt she couldn't possibly eat it all, and quickly shook her head, saying, "Let's look at it later, this is enough for now."

She finished her meal slowly.

Gu Zhaoqian finished eating faster than her. After putting down his utensils, he simply looked at He Peiru quietly, without showing the slightest impatience.

This made her a little embarrassed, but she still smiled at him.

Even Gu Zhaoqian could clearly sense that she was much more at ease and showed no signs of panic.

After the flight attendant cleared the table, He Peiru stood up and said, "I'll go see if there's anything I can do."

Gu Zhaoqian's private jet was divided into different areas.

Without much thought, she walked into the living room, sat down on the sofa, picked up the remote control, and started selecting a movie on the screen.

Seeing how casual she was, the man didn't say anything, but simply reminded her, "If you're sleepy, you can go to the guest room to rest."

"Okay, if I get sleepy I'll just go to sleep."

She's incredibly energetic right now.

He Peiru flipped through several pages and finally chose to watch the movie that had been released in Hong Kong recently and received good reviews.

Even the audio-visual equipment in this small living room is top-notch, with sound quality as good as being in a movie theater. Coupled with the captivating plot, she quickly became immersed in it.

Perhaps because I was so engrossed in watching, I was overcome by sleepiness.

He Peiru fell asleep without her noticing.

Wait until I wake up again.

She stared blankly at the somewhat unfamiliar ceiling before slowly remembering that she was on an airplane.

I vaguely remember the last scene, but I can't recall how she fell asleep.

Moreover, she wasn't on the sofa in the living room, but lying comfortably on the bed, covered with a blanket, and the air conditioning was set to the most comfortable temperature.

Aside from the crew members, it's unlikely to be Sophia, so it can only be Gu Zhaoqian.

Everything was so perfect that it felt unreal to her.

He Peiru turned her head to look at the clock on the wall, estimating that there were still several hours before landing. She decided to get up and watch the movie while she was at it.

Not knowing what the others were doing, she consciously slowed her pace and first looked for Gu Zhaoqian.

He remained seated in his usual dining position, the table in front of him seemingly transformed into his desk, where he appeared to be working on his computer.

Looking at the screen, one can see dense text, and just by looking at his profile, one can feel the seriousness on his face.

Fearing she might disturb the man, He Peiru immediately decided to return to her guest room.

However, Gu Zhaoqian noticed the movement first. He turned around while still maintaining his work expression. When he saw it was her, his expression softened considerably, and he asked, "How did you sleep?"

"It's fine." She stopped abruptly, pointed to the computer screen, and asked, "Am I disturbing your work?"

"No, not at all." He pushed the computer forward and turned to the side, replying, "Just some trivial documents, I'm just browsing."

"Then you..." She remained where she was, but that didn't stop her from asking, "Have you rested?"

Gu Zhaoqian smiled broadly and told her, "Don't worry, I've already rested."

He Peiru had already noticed this when she boarded the plane.

There were two guest rooms on the plane. The other one had been arranged for Sophia, so where did Gu Zhaoqian rest?

She didn't point it out, but simply stepped back and said, "That's good! I'll go watch the movie first."

Gu Zhaoqian nodded gently, as if afraid that she would go hungry, and once again instructed, "Go ahead, just tell the crew what you want to eat."

"good."

After leaving that word, she quickly disappeared.

After sitting down on the sofa, He Peiru didn't rush to continue playing the movie; she simply thought quietly about whether there were any other possibilities.

Especially since there were several female staff members on the flight crew, how could she assume that Gu Zhaoqian carried her to the bed in the guest room?

She was suddenly unsure whether she was just imagining things or tacitly acknowledging the progress of their relationship.

Since she couldn't figure it out, she simply got up and went to the bar to ask the bartender to make her a cold soda.

Trying to calm down in this way.

Then, he didn't forget to ask the chef to make some snacks.

Although she wasn't very hungry, since she had taken a nap, it was time to eat something.

The monitor in the living room went into sleep mode, and pressing the remote control brought up a paused movie screen.

Based on her memory, He Peiru rewound the movie to the position she saw before falling asleep.

She completely relaxed.

Now that she no longer needs to worry about her relationship with Gu Zhaoqian or how to get along with him, she can enjoy this leisure time in the air.

The weather remained good in the air, and the plane landed smoothly.

He Peiru immediately informed her family that she was safe.

Gu Zhaoqian walked ahead of her at a leisurely pace, as if he was deliberately slowing down to wait for her.

She looked up from her phone and said, "I'll take you home now. It was a long flight, and you need to rest well after getting back."

As if worried that she might be making other plans, he added, "Just let me know if anything happens at school. There's no rush to go back to class anyway."

“It’s okay,” He Peiru quickly told him. “The school has already made arrangements, so I can catch up on the previous courses.”

Gu Zhaoqian understood, nodded in acknowledgment, and said, "Once you've recovered, let's have a proper meal together in a few days."

She added, "Just you and me."

The man's emphasis made He Peiru's heart skip a beat. After taking a deep breath, she replied, "Okay."

And she felt it necessary to tell him the temporary plans, even though all the arrangements were still unclear: "But having just returned to England, I might have other things to do at the last minute."

Gu Zhaoqian seemed to be infinitely tolerant of her, saying, "It's okay, you can take your time."

"By the way... when are you going back to Hong Kong?" Ho Pui-yu still remembered what Cheng Wan-kiu had said. At first, he meant that he could completely hand over his work to his employees, but after returning to Hong Kong, she heard that he still had a lot of work to do.

Only then did I realize that I didn't know much about his situation.

“It will take some more time,” Gu Zhaoqian replied immediately. “I’ll probably go back after this project is finished.”

"So that's how it is."

In other words, he will not be returning to Hong Kong anytime soon.

This fact immediately made He Peiru feel incredibly at ease, as if she had accepted that he would always be by her side no matter what.

She then heard Gu Zhaoqian ask, "What else do you want to know?"

"...Not at the moment."

It was another familiar conversation.

The two chatted like this and soon arrived at the apartment.

Before she could speak, Gu Zhaoqian said, "Get out of the car, I'll help you carry your luggage up."
