Chapter 1 From the Countryside

In City C, outside the door of a villa, an elderly man was holding the hand of a young girl, about seventeen or eighteen years old, and was pressing the doorbell.

The girl has a pretty face. Although she is not wearing any famous brand, her whole body reveals the word "clean"! !

She is Su Ci, the abandoned daughter of the Su family. She is 17 years old this year. She has lived in the countryside with her grandmother since she was a child. Today, in everyone's impression, it should be considered her first time to go to the city. She did not show much surprise, but seemed to be used to it. She looked calm and let her grandmother hold her hand with an expressionless face.

After a long time, there was no reaction from this prosperous villa.

The old man next to her, Yu Qing, quickly comforted her: "Xiao Ci, don't worry. They might be busy right now. We should just wait."

Su Ci did not respond. She knew who her grandmother was talking about: the stepmother and father whom she had never even met. Her grandmother was old and could not always be with her. The Su family was gradually becoming wealthy, so it was no problem for them to support her.

After a long time, a servant in an apron came out of the big villa in front, jogging towards them, his face full of anxiety.

Yu Qing's wrinkled face showed only embarrassment. Her seventeen-year-old daughter came home for the first time, and only a servant came out to greet her. Was he looking down on her as a mother, or was he looking down on Su Ci as a daughter?

The servant, who was about thirty or forty years old, came out with a look of anxiety on his face. He quickly ran over to open the door and explained, "Well, I'm sorry, the mistress is practicing piano with the young lady, and the husband is still at the office. I just finished my work and kept you waiting."

After hearing the servant's explanation, Yu Qing's expression eased a little, but she was still complaining in her heart that her son Su Shen did not come out to greet her.

"By the way, this should be the eldest lady." The servant pointed at Su Ci with a smile.

Su Ci moved, glanced in her direction, and then said coldly: "I'm not a young lady, my name is Su Ci." In her eyes, young lady was just a title used to show off, and there was no need for it.

Looking at Su Ci's aloof face, the servant's mouth twitched awkwardly. "You're from the countryside, so you're quite arrogant. Even if you're willing to admit it, I'm not willing to call you that."

"By the way, don't stand here. Come with me in. Sir and Madam, I have already asked you to prepare a room for you. Please follow me." The servant said as he walked in.

On the way, Su Ci kept observing her surroundings. The layout was quite grand, but it was not the tone she liked.

The servant brought them to the piano room where Su Yue practiced, and said, "Madam, you two are here. I'll go down first."

As soon as the voice came out, the sound of Su Yue practicing the piano disappeared, and the surroundings became quiet instantly. Su Ci stared at the face of the middle-aged woman. As expected of her wealth, she was well-maintained. This should be the stepmother who she had no impression of.

Zhang Yu looked at Su Ci's face, stunned for a moment, and then restored his seemingly kind smile: "Xiao Ci, it's good that you're here, it's good that you're here. By the way, this is your sister, Su Yue."

Zhang Yu tried hard to make her embarrassment less obvious. She had thought Su Ci would be sloppy and have a rural air. However, after meeting Su Ci in person, she was still a little surprised. She was actually very clean, with fair and delicate skin. She didn't look like a rural child at all.

Su Yue also stood up and looked at the girl who was called her sister. Su Yue was different. She was only a few months younger than Su Ci. She was brought here when Zhang Yu married Su Ci's father. She was only a few months younger than her. Su Ci was the real lady of the Su family. However, Su Yue's biological father also had the surname Su. Later, he changed his original name and was called Su Yue.

"Hello, sister." Su Yue greeted Su Ci honestly. Looking at this sister who was half a head taller than her, a hint of jealousy flashed in her eyes, and then disappeared.

"No need, call me Su Ci." These six short words perfectly explain what it means to be aloof. Why call someone sister if they are not biological daughter?

Su Yue was instantly embarrassed and had to change the subject: "Uh, sister, no, Su Ci, don't you have any luggage?"

"No." Su Ci was still very frugal with words. She was really too lazy to answer such a boring question.

Before coming, her grandmother gave her a large sum of money. This money was transferred to her by Su Shen over the years, but she had never used it. She gave it to Su Ci before coming, asking her to buy whatever she needed in the city and bring it over. Su Ci had to accept it for fear of being looked down upon by others, so she didn't bring anything with her.

"It's like this, Xiaoci, I'm planning to come here. If you need anything, buy it yourself. I'm too lazy to bring anything with me." Yu Qing hurriedly explained, and specifically emphasized that he bought the things himself and did not need charity from the Su family.

Zhang Yu seemed to have realized something and quickly said, "Yue'er, Daddy's mother, your grandma, go and say hello to grandma." How could she forget that this big Buddha was here? Before Su Shen went to the company today, he specifically told her that his mother from the countryside was coming and asked her to receive her well. Even if she didn't like Su Ci, she still had to treat Yu Qing well.

Su Yue bowed quickly and greeted, "Hello, Grandma." If one wants to gain a foothold in the Su family, one must please the elders in the family. Su Shen is a well-known filial son.

Yu Qing smiled kindly. Compared to the two granddaughters, she liked Su Ci more. After all, she had brought her up since she was a child. It was just a pity that she was not sent to the city from the beginning, and let her live in the countryside for seventeen years. Her mother divorced and left after giving birth to her.

"In that case, Yue'er, you practice the piano first. I'll take grandma and sister to the room." Zhang Yu said with a smile.

Afterwards, Zhang Yu took the two of them to the room and gave them the key. He also asked, "Mom, Xiaoci, since you just arrived, do you need some clothes to change into? Or some daily necessities? I can ask someone to buy some more. Oh, Su Yue has some clothes she doesn't wear anymore. If Xiaoci doesn't mind, you can take them and make do with them."

As soon as these words came out, the expressions of both of them changed. Su Ci stopped her grandmother from speaking and quickly said, "No need, we can buy it ourselves. Besides, I don't think Su Yue's clothes can fit me. After all, she is shorter than me."

The words "she is shorter than me" instantly stung Zhang Yu's heart, and she stood there in embarrassment. This girl was so sweet-talking that she hit people directly in the sore spot.

"In that case, you guys take a rest first. I'll be leaving first. Just tell me if you need anything." After saying that, Zhang Yu left. If he stayed any longer, he would probably have to wear a cotton jacket.

Yu Qing was instantly unhappy and said, "What a shame! My little Ci is a proper young lady from the Su family. Does she need to wear someone else's clothes?" Even though she was in the countryside, she didn't suffer such humiliation.
