Xiao's father had gray hair and looked more than ten years older.
“I never expected you to do something like this.” Mr. Xiao wiped his face, his voice hoarse. “I can’t understand why you would illegally seize Xiao’s property. This is our own family business! You’re pushing Xiao’s into a fire pit! What if the higher-ups come to investigate…”
Xiao Chengzhe chuckled upon hearing this: "Your own property? That's your family's property. If I want it, of course I have to take it by force."
These words stunned Mr. Xiao. He hadn't expected that Xiao Chengzhe, who had lived in the Xiao family for over twenty years, would say such a thing. He had treated Xiao Chengzhe even better than his own son, to the point that Mr. Xiao had almost forgotten the fact that Xiao Chengzhe was adopted.
“You don’t need to fight for it. He was planning to hand over the Xiao family business to you anyway,” Qingyun said to Xiao Chengzhe as she walked in.
Xiao's mother, who had been standing by and watching coldly, came forward and hung up Qingyun's coat. Xiao's father was clearly not expecting Qingyun to come and looked at Xiao's mother with slight shock.
"Why are you looking at me like that? The Xiao family has lost so much money. If I don't call my son here, am I just waiting to go bankrupt?" Xiao's mother glanced at him and said in a cold tone.
Before Xiao's father could speak, Xiao Chengzhe became agitated by Qingyun's words: "He would hand over the Xiao family business to me? Isn't that because you already have Ruixin and don't need the Xiao family business at all?!"
Mr. Xiao stared intently at Xiao Chengzhe, too exhausted even to muster a temper. Xiao Chengzhe was his most promising and proudest child; from childhood to adulthood, Mr. Xiao had only ever praised him. But now, how could he possibly face the reality that all of this was an illusion?
No one paid any attention to Xiao Chengzhe, but Xiao Chengzhe seemed to have found an outlet for his pent-up resentment. He pointed at his father and said, "Do you think it's wrong for me to take that money? It should have been mine all along! Did you really think my father's death had nothing to do with you? If it had nothing to do with you, why did you adopt me? Are you that kind? You just want my dad's shares!"
Sitting there listening to Xiao Chengzhe's accusations, Mr. Xiao's gaze slowly changed. He truly hadn't expected that Xiao Chengzhe had always viewed him this way. In Xiao Chengzhe's eyes, the entire Xiao family was probably his enemy.
Qingyun slowly walked to sit down opposite Xiao Chengzhe. He said in a calm tone, "Xiao Chengzhe, you are the general manager of Xiao's Group, so you should know who holds the shares of Xiao's Group. You should also know that you have always owned 25% of the shares of Xiao's Group."
