Chapter 26 Faith in the Holy Light

Wang Shengrong, carrying groceries and humming a tune, pushed open the door and entered. Wang Zheng immediately threw a Holy Light spell at him, startling Wang Shengrong so much that he almost thought a thief had broken into his house.

After Wang Zheng had been beaten up, he poured out the whole story to Wang Shengrong.

"You're saying your talent isn't actually damage reflection, but rather a healing-type Holy Light spell? The damage reflection effect is just a buff after applying Holy Light to yourself? And it only has a healing effect on others?" Wang Shengrong blankly repeated what Wang Zheng had said.

"Yes, Dad, what do you think of this explanation? Anyway, I've never used my Thorn ability in front of outsiders. I always use it in hidden mode. The only time I used it was in Mom's research lab."

I simply explained that I had just awakened and couldn't cast Holy Light at the time, so I only activated the passive effect of healing myself.

Wang Zheng pressed on, saying, "Besides, this is a new ability of mine. There's no data about it in the national database, so whatever I say is true. I can't just stop using Holy Light from now on, can I? This ability is obviously hard to hide."

Wang Shengrong said helplessly, "Is it really necessary to make this so complicated, Xiao Zheng? You have to believe that your parents can protect you. There's no need to hide it from us."

"It's easy to dodge a spear in the open, but hard to guard against an arrow in the dark. The world is so dangerous these days, I can't put everything out in the open. Dad, you know I can absorb spiritual energy crystals quickly, and I'll definitely be going to the front lines in the future. You and Mom can't possibly go on an adventure with me, can they?"

"Besides, given your physical condition, I wouldn't dare let you fight. What if some fearless individual tried to capture me for research? Would I send you to risk your life against them? Better safe than sorry."

Wang Zheng paused for a moment, then asked, "Dad, when I cast the Holy Light spell on you just now, did you feel your life force being replenished? Did it help your injuries?"

"It doesn't have much effect. It seems no different from other healing abilities. It can restore life force, but it can't be preserved for a long time. It will still disappear after a while." Wang Shengrong was successfully diverted from the topic.

Wang Zheng nodded. "There will definitely be other ways in the future. I'll take care of your recovery."

Wang Shengrong laughed and kicked Wang Zheng, then wiped his eyes. "Damn it, your lousy Holy Light spell is too blinding. Alright, don't worry too much about my injury. I've survived all these years, I'm fine." He then turned and went into the kitchen to busy himself.

Wang Zheng, naturally mindful of his father's feelings, didn't expose him. However, upon hearing Wang Shengrong say it was irritating, Wang Zheng touched his nose with a wicked grin.

...

At Boxing Gym, Wang Zheng faced off against Qu Hao.

As soon as Wang Zheng arrived, he asked Qu Hao to activate his superpower and spar with him again. Qu Hao didn't take it seriously at first, thinking that Wang Zheng had lost his mind and had become arrogant after taking a day off from training.

It wasn't until Wang Zheng nearly broke his forearm bone with two punches while he was defending that he realized Wang Zheng wasn't bragging. He then activated his superpower, became serious, and treated Wang Zheng as an opponent of equal strength.

Although he didn't know how Wang Zheng had gained so much power in a single day, it was none of his business. In this era, trying to find out about someone's abilities could easily lead to enmity.

"Brother Hao, you got hurt, huh? Hahaha, you didn't believe me when I told you to activate your superpowers." Wang Zheng was so arrogant he was about to take off.

Then, in a moment of overconfidence, he was punched hard in the stomach by Qu Hao, and immediately stopped talking and focused on his work.

Qu Hao was also having a great time. Before, Wang Zheng's strength was not as good as his, and he had to be careful to control his strength when sparring, which made the fight very unsatisfying. Now that Wang Zheng's strength has increased, Qu Hao no longer needs to hold back and is using all his strength to fight against Wang Zheng.

Wang Zheng also enjoyed the fight, as he had little experience but a strong physique and could take a beating.

Qu Hao is experienced, but his physical condition is a bit weak. However, he has activated his superpower.

With strength levels of 34 and 31 respectively, they were evenly matched, and the two fought to a standstill.

Ding Yuan, standing to the side, was quite frightened. He thought to himself that Wang Zheng's progress was too fast. He had sparred with Qu Hao a few times in private, and he was no match for him in terms of strength or stamina; they were not even in the same league. Qu Hao had never even activated his superpowers, so he couldn't possibly harm him.

A little over a month ago, Wang Zheng wasn't even a match for him; he had to rely on cheating and counter-attacks to win. But now he's able to dominate Qu Hao. This kid is truly a genius; you can't deny it.

Wang Zheng had no idea what Ding Yuan was thinking offstage; all he could think about was how to defeat Qu Hao. Although he had successfully forced Qu Hao to use his full strength, he didn't have a good way to beat him right now, unless he activated the Heart of Thorns and waged a war of attrition.

Qu Hao's special ability is to harden his skin. By stimulating spiritual energy, he can rapidly grow multiple layers of stratum corneum, increasing the thickness of his skin, which reduces pain and increases his defense.

Their fists collided again with a loud bang, as if the ring was about to collapse. Then, they both stepped back and created distance between themselves.

Wang Zheng assumed a defensive stance, panting heavily like an old, broken-down blower. His throat burned, sweat dripped down his face, and his clothes were soaked through. He didn't even need to wring them out; just a few steps and sweat would drip down.

Suddenly, Wang Zheng had an idea. He shouted, "Believe in the Holy Light!" and unleashed a Holy Light spell on Qu Hao.

Qu Hao was staring intently at Wang Zheng, and when he heard Wang Zheng shout, he focused even more on preparing to deal with Wang Zheng's killing move.

But the more careful he was, the more he fell into Qu Hao's trap. A beam of holy white light enveloped his face. Qu Hao made a quick decision, closing his eyes and keeping his hands in a defensive posture, and retreated rapidly towards the edge of the arena.
