Chapter 28 Chu Tianxing's Invitation

The next day, when Wang Zheng woke up groggily, washed up, and was about to go to the living room for breakfast, he found an envelope on the dining table, in addition to the breakfast that Wang Shengrong had left for him.

Inside the box was an invitation from Jingnan University, inviting Wang Zheng to visit the university's martial arts hall that afternoon.

Wang Zheng casually shook the envelope at Wang Shengrong: "Dad, when did this happen? Why the rush? We have to go this afternoon."

Wang Shengrong didn't even look up: "It was delivered yesterday, but you weren't home and came back too late to see it yourself."

Wang Zheng shoveled down a mouthful of soy milk, then took a big bite of a fried dough stick, muttering something clearly not pleasant. He thought to himself, "Old Man Chu's visit before the start of school definitely isn't for anything good, but not going isn't a good idea either; he still owes me a spirit crystal and a hammer."

Wang Shengrong immediately slammed the newspaper down in his hand: "How many times have I told you, don't talk when you have something in your mouth!"

Wang Zheng immediately shrank back in fright and ran out of the house as fast as he could. He strolled leisurely around the neighborhood, wondering why Chu Tianxing had asked him to come over. He even prepared an invitation letter, but then he thought that without one, it wouldn't be so easy to get into Jingnan University.

Having made up her mind to check what was going on, she turned around and went home. She slung her backpack over her shoulder, packed her acceptance letter and invitation, and left. Just before leaving, she called out to Wang Shengrong, "Don't wait for me. I'm not having lunch today. If I finish early this afternoon, I'll go straight to Boyue."

After taking the subway all the way to the university town, Wang Zheng found that the distribution of the various campuses was different from what he remembered from his previous life. It took him quite a while to finally reach the entrance of Jingnan University.

A Lingxing Gate, several tens of meters wide, stands as a three-bay, four-pillar, flame-shaped stone archway, with a lattice gate at the bottom and walls on the left and right. The archway is 10 meters high, with round pillars in two sections, flanked by stone drums at the front and back, and the two sections intersecting with diagonally supported stone eaves. A sense of history permeates the air.

The archway is engraved with four large, elegant characters: Jingnan University.

Faced with such a magnificent and imposing sight, Wang Zheng couldn't help but take a photo to commemorate his first visit to Jingnan University.

As Wang Zheng approached the entrance, the security guard politely stopped him: "We don't receive tourists during the summer vacation. You can take photos outside. We can't disturb the teachers and students who are still at school."

Wang Zheng was speechless; he was being treated like a tourist. He then took out his admission notice and Chu Tianxing's invitation. The gatekeeper examined them carefully for a long time before letting him through, muttering to himself about why the principal would personally invite this kid, with a hint of suspicion in his eyes.

Seeing this, Wang Zheng didn't linger any longer. He didn't even ask where the martial arts academy was and went straight in.

Walking along the lush, green inner path, with only a few scattered people around, Wang Zheng casually asked a female student for directions and headed straight for the martial arts hall.

After walking around the campus for seven or eight minutes, Wang Zheng finally found the so-called National Martial Arts Hall. It was an old two-story building located at the deepest part of the academy, and it looked much dilapidated compared to the other modern buildings on campus.

Upon entering the venue, it was discovered that the space was quite empty, with only two female students training in the large area, neither of whom looked very old.

Seeing the two of them training silently, Wang Zheng glanced at the time and realized it was just past one o'clock. So he casually found a place to sit down and carefully observed them.

The person on the left is tall, about 1.8 meters, with delicate features. Beneath her sharp eyebrows are a pair of slightly piercing eyes. Her long, black hair is tied into a high ponytail, which swings back and forth with her movements. Her furrowed brows from time to time also give her a heroic air. She is currently struggling with a sandbag.

The other one is also extremely good-looking. She is a little over 1.6 meters tall, with a pretty short hair dyed chestnut brown, thin eyebrows, bright black eyes, and a round face that makes her look petite and cute.

Seeing that Wang Zheng didn't approach the two of them to talk, the little girl sat down on the sidelines and hopped over to Wang Zheng: "Hello, my name is Chu Xiaoman, I'm a freshman this year, and an Awakened in the Healing Department."

"My name is Wang Zheng. I'm also a freshman at Jingnan University this year, and an Awakened One in the Healing Department," Wang Zheng replied with a smile.

Upon hearing Wang Zheng introduce himself as a healer, Chu Xiaoman's mouth dropped open in surprise. She gestured with her hand to indicate Wang Zheng's height and then poked the muscles on his arm: "Wang Zheng, you're such a big guy and you're a healer? I feel like you're even better at fighting than Sister Huan."

"Who is Sister Huan?" Wang Zheng glanced at the ponytail girl practicing boxing.

Chu Xiaoman immediately nodded: "Her name is Wu Huan, and she is also a freshman this year. The three of us are the natural awakeners this year."

Wu Huan, Wu Huan (meaning "no joy"), looking at her unapproachable expression, truly lives up to her name!

Chu Xiaoman clearly lacked experience, and Wang Zheng quickly extracted all her information from her after a short conversation. Chu Xiaoman was a native of Jingnan, and because she was born on the day of Xiaoman in the Twenty-Four Solar Terms, she was named Xiaoman. She had just turned 14 this year when she awakened her potential and was specially admitted to Jingnan University.

Seeing that Chu Xiaoman immediately took out a spiritual energy crystal to replenish her spiritual energy after she had exhausted it, Wang Zheng immediately added a note to her: Rich, absolutely rich, there are at least a few Awakened Ones in her family who are on the battlefield.

As we all know, spiritual crystals are carried around and passively increase absorption speed. Directly absorbing the spiritual energy from a spiritual crystal will accelerate its consumption and will not substantially increase the spiritual energy limit.

Wang Zheng's heart was bleeding when he saw Chu Xiaoman's actions!

However, upon thinking of this, Wang Zheng slapped his thigh in frustration. Damn it! He forgot to search Duan Zhengkai's body before. He must have been carrying spiritual crystals with him.

Very well, Young Master Duan, you now owe me three spirit crystals.

Turning to look at another girl, Wu Huan, from Haigang in Jiangnan Province, 15 years old, also a high school sophomore this year, in the same grade as Wang Zheng. She was also specially recruited into Jingnan University by Chu Tianxing after naturally awakening. Because Haigang is adjacent to Dongshan, it also carries a touch of the unique imposing manner of the people of Dongshan.

However, according to Wang Zheng's observation, Wu Huan was dressed simply, and her sneakers showed obvious wear and tear, suggesting that her family might not be very well-off. The girl did seem very cold, and she hadn't spoken a word so far.

It's worth mentioning that Wang Zheng celebrated his 16th birthday a few days ago, so he is now officially an adult. Among the three, he is the oldest in terms of both mental and physical age.
