Chapter 49 Dancing with the Leopard

Wang Zheng quickly instructed, "Be careful to stay hidden and don't expose yourself."

Before he finished speaking, a black figure flashed by so fast that it was impossible to see clearly, and then began to devour the pieces of meat on the ground.

Wang Zheng did not rush to take action, but instead observed the situation secretly.

The Shadow Panther evolved from the Black Panther, a black variant of the Pantherinae subfamily. After absorbing spiritual energy, it underwent a qualitative change. It is a shadow, a darling of darkness, and thrives in the darkness. It even has the superpower of stealth, making it a natural assassin.

The Shadow Leopard is a top hunter among the third-grade exotic beasts. It is solitary, fast, and has explosive power. Its special ability is to blend into the shadows, making it even more difficult to deal with at night.

The shadow leopard in front of him was over two meters long and taller than a person. It had a well-proportioned body, was completely black, and had two sharp fangs sticking out of its mouth, which added to its fierce appearance. Its limbs were strong and powerful, and its steel tail was swinging back and forth, clearly indicating that it was very happy with the meat that Wang Zheng had given it.

It would occasionally glance back warily, as if always on guard against potential dangers, and a scar at the corner of its eye added to its menacing appearance.

Wang Zheng stealthily circled around for a long time before finally arriving behind the Shadow Leopard. He crouched down and quietly crept up to it.

His crouching and walking posture was swift and steady, his breath was held, his gaze was firm, and his expression was solemn.

At this moment, the Shadow Panther's ears twitched slightly. If Wang Zheng were in front of it, he would definitely see that the black panther's eyes had narrowed, and its yellow-black vertical pupils were full of murderous intent, which, combined with the scar at the corner of its eye, made it look quite terrifying.

Just as Wang Zheng approached and was about to make a move, the Shadow Leopard swiftly turned around, as if transforming into a black lightning bolt. It opened its blood-soaked maw, reeking of a foul stench, and pounced on Wang Zheng at an incredible speed.

Wang Zheng was prepared; the attack he had just made was merely a feint. He shouted, "Well done!"

The instant the Shadow Leopard pounced, he had already caught its movements. He first dodged the ferocious attack by sidestepping it, then lowered his center of gravity, steadied his stance, and threw a punch at the Shadow Leopard's head.

To Wang Zheng's surprise, this enormous black panther was able to dodge in mid-air.

With a powerful push from its muscular hind legs, it seemed to leap forward as if it were standing on thin air.

Wang Zheng landed a solid punch on its shoulder blade. After landing, it rolled to dissipate the force, and with a few nimble leaps, it created distance. Its fierce eyes were fixed on Wang Zheng, and then it slowly retreated, disappearing into the shadow of the tree.

It was midday, the sun was blazing, and there were many trees around, casting many shadows.

This is the Shadow Leopard's hunting ground; it wants to prove that it is the king of this jungle.

The shadow leopard slowly blended into the shadows of the trees, then emerged from the end of another shadow, gradually approaching.

Although Wang Zheng was on high alert, even with his high mental attribute of 29 points, he could only vaguely perceive its outline.

As it slowly approached, Wang Zheng pretended to relax his guard behind him. Then, the Shadow Leopard suddenly attacked, leaping out from the shadow of the tree behind him. Its sharp claws were about to pounce on Wang Zheng, and its blood-red mouth was already open, ready to strike his neck and seal his throat.

However, Wang Zheng was also waiting for it to come to him on its own, otherwise, if the guy wanted to run away, Wang Zheng really wouldn't be able to keep it.

Upon hearing the noise, he quickly turned around, first taking out his large hammer from his storage space and holding it in front of him. Before the Shadow Leopard could retract its force, it crashed into the hammer with a loud "bang".

Then he landed a left hook on Shadow Panther's head. With a crack, Shadow Panther's skull shattered, and it tumbled and flew away.

Wang Zheng himself wasn't quite sure how strong he was now. Anyway, he could take down wolves and boars with a single punch, without even needing to use his hammer.

The punch stunned the Shadow Panther. After getting up, it felt dizzy. A piece of its head was broken off, and blood was dripping from its ears, eyes, and mouth.

Just now, when I bit down on the steel hammer, not only did I lose a tooth, but my tongue was also pierced through by the hammer spike.

In pain, the Shadow Leopard became ferocious. It crouched low, braced its hind legs, opened its mouth wide, and kept making low growling noises.

Wang Zheng found it amusing and teased, "It's a pity I'm not a summoner, otherwise I would definitely take you as my underling, even though you're a bit weak."

He genuinely admired the Shadow Leopard; it was agile, adept at stealth, and could blend into the shadows, making it a first-rate ambush predator.

Although the Shadow Leopard couldn't understand what Wang Zheng meant, creatures of its level had already begun to develop their own intelligence. Since being captured by a group of people half a month ago, its body had been cut open and a round object inserted into it, and then it was sent to this unfamiliar island. Although there were no natural predators here, prey was scarce, and it often went hungry.

I finally caught a whiff of the delicious food today and came over for a hearty meal, but then I ran into Wang Zheng.

Now, not only was he injured by the person in front of him, but he was also being mocked and pointed at. Black Panther was overwhelmed with a surge of old and new grudges. It was as if the wounds on his body no longer hurt. His eyes were bloodshot, and he pounced again. His sharp claws gleamed with cold light, and his sharp fangs were still covered with bits of flesh. He was determined to devour Wang Zheng alive!

Wang Zheng chuckled and nimbly dodged the black panther's pounce with a side jump. Then, he slammed the giant hammer down on the panther's body. The blow, along with the panther, created a large crater in the ground. The shadow panther looked as if it had been broken in half at the waist, its spine snapped in two, and its entire body twisted into a bizarre shape, a truly pitiful sight.

Even though it was already badly injured, the Shadow Leopard still wanted to fight back. It looked at Wang Zheng, who was looking down at it with a cold expression, and slowly extended its claws, but only managed to scratch Wang Zheng's trouser leg. As for the skin under his clothes, there wasn't even a scratch.

Finally, it let out a whimper, spitting out blood and fragments of internal organs before dying.

Wang Zheng glanced at his trouser leg, feeling a mix of emotions. He looked at Chu Xiaoman and Wu Huan who had rushed over and said, "See? Getting carried away with your emotions is no good. Once you recognize the difference in strength, you have to know how to be patient and yield. With its ability to blend into the shadows, if it wanted to run away, how could I catch up with it?"

Chu Xiaoman was already used to Wang Zheng's tendency to show off. Looking at the gruesomely dead Shadow Leopard, she complained, "Wang Zheng, you're disgusting. You always make it so bloody, and I'm always the one who has to clean it up."

Wang Zheng ignored Chu Xiaoman and continued, "After all, they were just wild beasts, unable to assess the situation. In the end, they could only lose their lives in vain, which benefited me in the end. Don't you agree, Chi Bofei?"
