"Let go!"
Sanya was in a lot of pain from being grabbed and was startled. She shook off Jiang Lian'er's hand.
Jiang Lian'er looked at her sadly, "I am your mother, Sanya!"
Judging from Sanya's age, Lin Anyuan must have raised the child she gave birth to back then, and raised her so well, she's chubby and healthy.
Sanya ran behind the door and poked her head out. "My mother's home! It's not you!"
"Sanya! I am your mother! I gave birth to you!"
Jiang Lian'er seemed devastated. "No, I have to find Lin Anyuan and get to the bottom of this. How could he possibly be married!"
"Sanya, don't go! Take me to your father!"
Seeing that Jiang Lian'er's hand was about to poke her eye, Sanya slammed the door shut, her heart pounding.
After listening for a while, it seemed that the old lady's voice had disappeared outside.
"Third Miss, you're back? Come and eat."
Huigu saw Sanya calling out at the door.
Hui Gu never called the three girls by their names, even though Ye Wan and the three children genuinely treated her as one of their own. She called them the eldest, second, and third girls.
"The cook's skills are excellent; this dish tastes delicious."
Ye Wan had rested enough, changed into a new set of clothes, and sat down to eat with her family.
My family members are all in good health. They haven't had any headaches or fevers all winter. Even though they've traveled a long distance and had a good night's sleep, they all seem to be full of energy.
Huigu said, "The steward said that these servants all used to serve in this house."
"Thank you for your trouble, Auntie." Ye Wan served food to Aunt Hui.
Hui Gu initially refused to sit at the table to eat, but unfortunately, she couldn't persuade Ye Wan otherwise.
As Ye Wan and Aunt Cai were talking, she noticed out of the corner of her eye that San Ya had her head down. Usually, she loved to eat, but today she didn't even pick up any food.
"What's wrong? Why do you look so unhappy?"
Sanya snapped out of her daze and looked up at Ye Wan, her eyes glistening with tears. "Mother, I was born from you, wasn't I?"
Six-year-old Sanya couldn't understand why the older woman outside called her her mother.
From the moment she was born, her mother treated her the best; how could she possibly have another mother?
The children in the village all say that a mother is only one person, and she is the best person for her children.
Ye Wan glanced at Hui Gu, but Hui Gu didn't say anything.
Ye Wan gently stroked Sanya's head, her expression unchanged. "Why are you suddenly bringing this up? Did someone say something to you?"
Sanya shook her head, not mentioning what happened at the door, nor did she have any other thoughts; she just subconsciously didn't want to upset her mother.
Someone is impersonating her mother; Ye Wan will probably be angry if she finds out.
Ye Wan smiled gently, "Sanya, you must remember one thing: although you are not my biological daughter, I am your mother. Unless you don't want to acknowledge me anymore, I will always recognize you as my daughter."
Sanya's eyes lit up, and like a puppy, she hugged Ye Wan tightly.
"Yes, I am Mother's daughter."
"That's settled then. Remember, whatever others say is bullshit. You're Mommy's little sweetheart." Ye Wan tapped Sanya's nose.
Er Ya immediately asked, "Mom, San Ya is a sweetheart, so what about us?"
"Your eldest sister is your mother's little cotton-padded jacket, and you are your mother's little firecracker."
Er Ya immediately retorted, "How am I a little firecracker? Mother, you're being unfair!"
"No, that's not right. Mom loves spicy food, and I'm the one she cherishes most!"
Er Ya laughed to herself.
Ye Wan coaxed, "The three of you are all my precious treasures."
The three daughters looked at Ye Wan with sparkling eyes, having been coaxed.
Ye Wan thought that children without mothers really lack love. Should she treat them better in the future?
"Aunt, when you sent Sanya out, was there anyone outside?"
After the meal, Ye Wan asked Hui Gu alone.
She knew that Sanya had gone to play by the gate for a while, probably riding the stone lion.
Huigu went to the kitchen to give instructions, but they really didn't see it. "I'll call the gatekeeper over and ask."
The doorman, Xiao Xiao, was the first one the madam called in for questioning. "Madam, she's a crazy woman. She's come here many times before the New Year, saying she's looking for the master, but she never says who she is."
"I overheard it from inside the door just now. That crazy woman was saying something about being the third young lady's mother!"
Xiao Xiao took the tip and left.
"It looks like an old flame has come knocking." Ye Wan touched her earring, which Lin Anyuan had given her last night.
She's used to not wearing jewelry, and now her earlobes feel itchy.
"Madam, shall I take care of this?"
Hui Gu carefully observed Ye Wan's expression and saw that she didn't care at all, so she silently prayed for the master.
"Aunt, let Lin Anyuan handle this kind of thing himself. Just keep a close eye on Sanya lately."
Sanya is still young. Suddenly having a biological mother is too much for a child to handle. I hope she doesn't grow up to be a bad person.
Lin Anyuan returned in the evening, and Ye Wan, Hui Gu, and San Ya did not mention the matter.
He didn't come empty-handed; he was carrying a large box.
As soon as he entered, Butler Lin was about to take over, but when he saw Lin Anyuan heading towards Madam's courtyard, he quickly withdrew his hand.
As a steward, he naturally wouldn't go to the lady's courtyard unless summoned by her.
"What's this?"
The whole family was waiting for him to eat, and when they saw Lin Anyuan bring things back, they all gathered around.
Lin Anyuan put down the box. "It was a gift from the wife of Prince Jing."
"The wife of King Jing, the princess?" Ye Wan asked curiously.
While washing his hands, Lin Anyuan said, "The future princess passed away before she entered the family. The others were all concubines. However, this new lady is someone that Prince Jing personally brought back from his trip. I heard that her status is very different."
After dinner, the two returned to their room, and Ye Wan started gossiping about Prince Jing again, asking him how many wives he had.
Lin Anyuan thought for a moment, "A dozen or so, I guess."
He didn't know the specifics either.
Ye Wan clicked her tongue, "My God, is his kidney okay?"
Lin Anyuan stepped forward and hugged her, saying, "Instead of worrying about Prince Jing, you should worry about yourself."
Ye Wan rolled her eyes.
Having just tasted the meat of the young wolfhound, she was actually a little overwhelmed and felt like she had kidney deficiency.
"Did you clean this room? Why is it so red?" Ye Wan looked at the red accessories inside and out and felt that it was a bit too red.
Lin Anyuan touched his nose. "Red is festive for the New Year."
He originally planned to bring her back and get married, but who would have thought that he would be officially recognized after just one trip back home.

He had never met the new lady.
"Otherwise, why would she give us such expensive gifts, and such thoughtful ones at that?" Ye Wan said. She had already looked through them; these were all styles of decoration that she and her three daughters liked.
The box had another layer inside; when you opened it, you found several books and a set of jewelry suitable for older women, probably a gift for Aunt Cai and Old Man Ke.
Lin Anyuan looked at it and asked, "They didn't send it to me?"
