Chapter 176 Marriage Certificate

"Does A-Wu need me to find him?" Shen Yu-Nan still had his eyes downcast, his freshly dried, fluffy bangs slightly obscuring his eyelids, so Pei Wu couldn't see his expression.

"I'm just explaining to you." Pei Wu sighed softly and continued, "I didn't mean anything else. I just didn't want you to make things difficult for yourself over such a small matter. Your health isn't good either, and the worst thing you can do is to exhaust yourself mentally."

"Mmm." Shen Yu'nan responded softly, then looked up at Pei Wu. He reached out and took Pei Wu's hand. "From now on..." His gaze met Pei Wu's eyes, and after pursing his lips slightly, he continued, "Can you only be good to me?"

Pei Wu could feel the strength of the other person's grip on her arm. Seeing the other person's expression, she suddenly understood and softly replied, "Okay." Her expression was quite indulgent. "After you've dried your hair, get some rest."

Pei Wu kissed Shen Yunan's forehead.

"I'll prepare some late-night snacks for you."

Pei Wu shook her head. "Get some rest. Your health is what I care about most." Pei Wu reached out and brushed Shen Yunan's hair aside, adding, "Niannian is too young. Caring for a child under one year old is extremely demanding. Your body can't withstand this kind of late nights and overwork. Since Shi Quan is someone you trust, I think it's best to let him take care of you. Getting your health back is the most important thing."

"However, Shi Quan is still a newcomer, and Niannian needs to be away for a few days for the kindergarten parent-child activity tomorrow, so I still told my mother to let Lou Ji take the child back to the main house for a few days."

"..." Shen Yu Nan remained silent, but held Pei Wu's hand tightly. After a long while, he finally uttered a soft "Mmm".

Pei Wu felt the burning heat in Shen Yu Nan's hand as he gripped her arm. Their eyes met and lingered there, unable to look away.

Seeing this, Pei Wu accompanied him back to the bedroom, where she and Shen Yu Nan lay down in each other's arms.

"Didn't you say there was another meeting...?"

"No rush, I'll leave after you fall asleep."

For some reason, Shen Yu'nan felt drowsy just from feeling the faint warmth emanating from Pei Wu's body.

The next day, at 3 p.m., a large crowd had gathered at the kindergarten gate. The bus carrying passengers was already parked at the school gate. All around were the sounds of children's laughter. When Pei Wu and Shen Yu Nan arrived at the kindergarten, they happened to see Pei Nian playing with the children. As he turned around to look back and ran, he bumped into Pei Wu. Pei Wu caught the staggering child and told him, "Watch where you're going. It's dangerous."

Still dazed from the impact, Pei Nian only then noticed that the person grabbing her arm was Pei Wu, and blankly called out, "Mom...Mom."

"Be careful," Pei Wu said with a smile, reminding him again.

"good."

Pei Nian was still a little shy when facing Pei Wu. These days, he just stood obediently by Pei Wu's side and stopped running around.

Meanwhile, at the entrance of the residential complex where Shen Yuhuan and his friend Ji Congyan once rented a place, several people were arguing with the security guard. It seemed that they wanted to enter the complex but were stopped by the guard because they did not have access cards. The arguing and shouting attracted the attention of many people.

A short while later, a police car with its siren blaring stopped at the entrance of the residential compound. Clearly, the security guard was no longer willing to argue with the group and only wanted to explain the situation to the arriving police.

"Who called the police?"

"It's me!" The security guard quickly stepped forward to the police officer, who asked him, "What's going on?"

“Our community has strict access control; everyone enters using access cards. They wanted to get in, saying they knew a tenant in our community. I told them to call that tenant so I could let them in. But they didn’t have the tenant’s contact information or know which building it was in. I told them to contact their friend first, but they wouldn’t give up and tried to force their way in. Of course, I couldn’t let them in. In the pushing and shoving, I accidentally pushed them, causing a minor bump. I was afraid they would try to extort money from me, so for my safety, I called the police.”

The police looked in the direction the security guard was pointing and saw a middle-aged man and woman standing against the wall with a young woman in her early twenties. All three had dark skin and red cheeks. They were not dressed warmly and had luggage behind them. The middle-aged man was smoking, but when he saw the police coming, he threw the cigarette butt on the ground and stomped it out.

"Are you going in to look for someone?" the policeman asked.

"Yes, officer, we really are here to find someone. I don't know why they're stopping us from coming in. You have no idea how much trouble we went through to find this place."

"What's the name of the person you're looking for? Do you have their contact information?"

“His name is Shen Yu Nan.” The man replied to the policeman while pulling a crumpled piece of paper from his pocket. The edges of the paper were slightly yellowed. He unfolded the paper and handed it to the policeman. On the white paper, in black and white, was written Shen Yu Nan’s name, phone number, and address. “We also found him here using the address his parents gave us. Look, that string of numbers is his number, but we couldn’t get through.”

"Since you couldn't get through, you should have called his parents instead of arguing with the security guard. He was just doing his job. Why make things difficult for him?"

Hearing this, the middle-aged man sighed deeply, "Officer, you don't know, ever since his parents moved away from our village more than a year ago, we haven't been able to contact them. I don't know where they moved to. I had no other choice but to come here."

"..." Upon hearing this, the police officer raised an eyebrow slightly and asked, "What? Does their family owe you money?"

The man sighed again. "It's not exactly a debt, but his family promised to give their son to my daughter as a husband, and they took 128,000 yuan as a bride price. Look, this is the marriage certificate they wrote for me. It's clearly written in black and white. Besides the 128,000 yuan bride price, there were also 120 chickens, 120 ducks, and livestock like cattle and sheep. His parents signed and pressed their fingerprints on it. We used to live in the same village, but who would have thought they would move away overnight? They used to answer our calls, but later they wouldn't even answer our calls. I was really worried. It's not easy for us to earn money, and now my daughter is getting older... I had no choice but to come here."
