Jiang Yili x Qiu Ye ②
After exchanging contact information at their first meeting, Jiang Yili seemed to genuinely consider Qiu Ye as someone she wanted to spend her life with, sending messages more punctually than an alarm clock.
In the morning, she'll say, "Good morning, honey. I'm going to flower arranging class today." At noon, she'll send a picture of a beautifully plated salad with the caption, "Honey, have you eaten yet? I'll eat first." In the evening, she'll post a video of herself lying in bed with only her eyes showing, saying to the camera, "Honey, I'm going to sleep now."
Qiu Ye would only occasionally reply with "hmm" or "oh," until one time he was too busy to remember and didn't check his phone for three or four hours.
As soon as the chat window opened, a voice message from Jiang Yili popped up, sounding aggrieved: "Why isn't my husband replying to my messages? Do you find me annoying? If you find me annoying, then I'll just send fewer messages."
Qiu Ye suddenly had the illusion that he owed Jiang Yili a hundred million. In the end, he frowned at the screen for a long time and squeezed out a dry voice message: "I didn't mind, I was just busy."
The instant he pressed send, he received a reply from Jiang Yili: a bouncy bunny emoji followed by the message, "Great! Honey, I almost pricked my hand on a thorn while arranging flowers today..."
Qiu Ye thought to himself, "The young master is a bit dim-witted."
But from then on, he would reply to any message from the young master instantly.
The second meeting was at a gathering of the two families, where it was said to be a formal meeting.
With his parents watching over him this time, Qiu Ye couldn't wear his ripped sweater anymore and had to put on the suit they had prepared. To be fair, he was already broad-shouldered and narrow-waisted, and he actually looked quite presentable in the custom-made suit.
As soon as she entered the private room, Jiang Yili saw him and waved vigorously across the table, patting the empty seat next to her: "Here."
The eyes of the elders around him swept over in an instant. Qiu Ye's ears burned a little, but he still sat down.
During the meal, the elders chatted about the details of the arranged marriage, creating a lively atmosphere. Jiang Yili didn't say much, but just rested her chin on her hand and looked at him. Suddenly, she picked up a piece of eggplant and put it in his bowl, saying in a low voice, "Husband, eat."
With him staring at him like that, Qiu Ye couldn't pretend he didn't see it, so he had no choice but to pick up a piece of braised pork and return the favor.
Jiang Yili pouted and gently pushed the bowl away: "I can't eat this."
Qiu Ye thought he was having an allergic reaction, but the young master said in a serious tone, "Eating too much oily food will make you fat."
Qiu Ye didn't expect the young master to be so vain.
"Shrimp is okay to eat, right?"
Jiang Yili nodded, then hesitated for a moment: "But I just did a hand mask before I came."
Qiu Ye glanced at his delicate hands, said nothing, and directly picked up a few shrimp and put them on his own plate, then bent down to peel them. After peeling the shrimp, he dipped them in vinegar before putting them into Jiang Yili's bowl.
"My husband is so good to me." Jiang Yili cupped her face in her hands and looked at him, her eyes sparkling.
Qiu Ye turned his face away, pretending to look at the scenery outside the window, and snorted inwardly.
It's alright, I guess.
When the party ended, the Jiang family's black car was parked on the side of the road, and Qiu Ye and his parents stood outside to see the guests off.
The Jiang family members got into the car one after another. Just as the driver was about to start the engine, the car window suddenly rolled down.
Jiang Yili leaned against the car window, staring intently at Qiu Ye, and whispered, "Come here for a second."
There were relatives and elders from both sides around, all staring at them. Qiu Ye braced himself and walked over.
"Lower your head." Jiang Yili looked up.
Qiu Ye was puzzled, but still lowered his head slightly as instructed. Looking into the young master's bright eyes, he suddenly realized that this was another farewell kiss.
The feeling from last time inexplicably flashed through my mind—soft, like a marshmallow.
The elders around him were still watching, but he suddenly didn't care anymore. His Adam's apple bobbed slightly, and he leaned in to gently press his lips against Jiang Yili's.
Jiang Yili's eyes curved into crescents, and after their lips parted, he said in a voice only the two of them could hear, "See you next time, husband."
Looking at his flushed cheeks, Qiu Ye mumbled a reply: "See you next time."
The car window slowly rolled up, and the sedan sped away.
Qiu Ye turned around and met his parents' probing gazes.
"You were acting like you were going to kill yourself before, and we thought you two wouldn't get along, but you kissed after only meeting twice?"
Qiu Ye's face flushed, and he stiffened his neck, asking, "What do you know?"
