Chapter 57 Spoilers
Meng Fanxi looked at them coldly. Their statements were so consistent, one singing in harmony with the other, that it seemed as if the two teams had planned it in advance.
Some other teams were also inspired by them, and gradually some voices of agreement came from the crowd.
"Exactly, it's so unfair."
"Think of a way, production team."
"Even with the previous rankings, this is still unfair. Why not just award first place to them directly..."
Meng Fanxi could feel the occasional glances directed at them from the crowd.
"Heh," Lin Ruohe laughed. As the team leader, he took a few steps forward and looked at the teams. "The people who were evaluated in the individual assessment just now followed Meng Fanxi's opening, but I didn't see you pay any copyright fees."
"Would that make it fair?"
Lin Ruohe was, after all, an established artist. Upon hearing this, many people shut their mouths, concealing their dissatisfaction.
Ying Zhuo cleared his throat. His right earpiece was ready to receive instructions from the directing team. He repeated what he heard, “Rules are rules. The ranking is based on the scores of the mentors and the judging panel. It is a fact that the later the team performs, the better they are. The audience and mentors have the ability to judge. If you are not confident in the dance created by your team, then improve your skills. We have said from the beginning that all treatment is related to the team’s level.”
“The mentors are watching all your actions in the mentor room. If you still have any objections, we can invite the five mentors to come to the scene to discuss them with you.”
If five mentors are brought in, the situation could become difficult to control.
,
After he finished speaking, the studio was so quiet you could hear someone breathing. The two captains who had taken the lead were still unconvinced, but they didn't say anything more because of the threat in Ying Zhuo's words.
It seems that the previous rules will continue to be maintained.
This won't do. Meng Fanxi glanced at the resentment in those people's eyes. If they didn't come up with a solution immediately, this would always be a hidden danger.
They can guarantee that they will not refer to the designs of the previous teams at all, but it's better to be safe than sorry. If some of the dance moves are similar to theirs, it may cause a series of problems.
Even the pieces they choose may have some overlap.
“Teacher, I have an idea.” Meng Fanxi looked at Ying Zhuo, but did not call him Brother Ying Zhuo as usual.
Standing at a distance, Ying Zhuo was clearly surprised by his sudden speech. He raised his chin slightly and looked at him from afar. "What?"
The cameras were all pointed at Meng Fanxi.
"Could you take us to a room where we can't see the evaluation stage? I understand that everyone has their own concerns. Our team's stage has been prepared long ago, and we don't want to and won't refer to other teams' stages. To put everyone at ease, as the last team to perform, it would be better if we went out separately."
Meng Fanxi knows his teammates well. He turned to interact with them, "No one has any objections, right?"
The teammates completely agreed and couldn't wait to leave the studio; they didn't want to be in the same space as those people.
Ying Zhuo couldn't make a decision. The production team gave no instructions through his earpiece. "Uh, you don't actually need to make such a concession."
Xu You couldn't help but say, "We don't want to perform while carrying the burden of a bad reputation."
Finally, after discussion and consultation with the mentors, the production team decided to cut off the broadcast between the studio and the evaluation room, and each team simply waited in the studio.
After a series of ups and downs, an undercurrent was clearly brewing in the room. Paradox and WONE had somehow ended up sitting together, while Han Jia sat silently at the very edge of the group.
Meng Fanxi took in the scene; it seemed that the two groups had formed an alliance at some point.
In his previous life, he had watched many talent shows. The contestants in those shows competed and schemed against each other, but they generally maintained a semblance of civility. At least, there was no such overt antagonism as there is now.
Now, they are acting independently, and there is even a tendency to form cliques. The rules for future performances are unclear, and is the final debut rule really as Wei Ye said, that the first-place group will debut at the Starlight Gala?
Was the current scene deliberately staged by the production team?
In any case, they need to be vigilant.
Without a live broadcast, the recording time felt exceptionally long. As the last team to perform, they could only do other things to pass the time.
Every now and then, stand up and do some exercises to stretch your body, or play a game of rock-paper-scissors.
Most of the time they sat there chatting quietly, and their overall atmosphere was much more lively than other teams.
A sense of boredom filled the studio, but the teams remained wary of each other. The teams that returned from their performances remained silent, and when someone went to inquire, they refused to reveal any information.
Meng Fanxi observed the expressions and timing of each team's return. "The performances of these teams are all about the same length, so it seems they won't be stopped halfway through."
He and his teammates were talking in hushed tones.
“Two teams didn’t look too good. Could it be that there’s going to be a critique session?” Ren Yuchen analyzed.
Meng Fanxi also noticed the frustrated expressions on the faces of some trainees, and Lin Ruohe nodded, "Very likely."
The later a team enters the game, the better their expression upon returning.
After the evaluation of the thirteen teams was completed, Meng Fanxi and his team had already entered competition mode and headed to the evaluation room.
The assessment room remained the same, but there were no instructors in sight. They suppressed their doubts and lined up to stand still.
Meng Fanxi stood at the center, with the other five standing behind him in a single file, before turning their backs to each other.
Without any preamble, the music started, and they chose to perform the bridge section of the theme song.
Before the two rappers begin, there is a transition of about 2 seconds in the song. Meng Fanxi takes advantage of this transition, turns his head to the side, and looks aggressively at the camera, saying, "Hey."
A simple sound immediately draws the audience into the performance atmosphere.
He turned around nimbly, and Gu Huailang and Xu You jumped out of the group on the left and right, raising their arms as if holding microphones to seamlessly enter the rap part.
One person was singing, and another person was squatting there in a street pose, listening to his story in rhythm with the music.
The other four formed a tight diamond-shaped dance formation, performing their dance moves towards the person who was squatting. With the slowing drumbeats, their movements were not very large, but they were quite eye-catching.
The whole scene resembled Gu Huailang facing a battle between two opposing forces.
Turning to Xu You's rap, the triangular formation of the three forces simultaneously shifts, becoming Gu Huailang listening and Xu You singing.
Xu You is extremely talented in this area. His voice when rapping is completely different from his singing style. It has a strong hip-hop flavor, and his flow is even smoother than the director's. Zhu Lou was very excited when he listened in the mentor's room, and his body swayed to the rhythm.
The two rappers build up layer by layer, with a question-and-answer format that gradually pushes the emotions upward.
When it came to the melody part, the three of them merged into a tight circle, bringing Meng Fanxi to the center, gesturing and dancing freely, but maintaining visual harmony.
Meng Fanxi started singing first, and the moment she opened her mouth, it was as if she had cast a spell to stop time for everyone. The other five people were all frozen until the next part. The strong contrast between movement and stillness brought out the emotions contained in the song to the fullest.
Each person then moved flexibly, like dominoes, with each person's movements subtly connected to the next. Finally, Zhang Yang's high note propelled the emotion to another level.
Suddenly, everyone changed into a triangular formation, leaped to the same height and landed, swung their arms back, and looked directly at the camera with determination and resolve, as if heading to the final battlefield.
The music abruptly stops just as the chorus is about to begin.
This performance brought the audience's emotions to a breaking point, clearly on the verge of exploding, but it stopped there.
Meng Fanxi and the others had stopped and resumed their obedient demeanor.
The mentors sat in their chairs feeling inexplicably stifled; were they being kept in suspense?
The rules aren't that strict; if they want to jump to the chorus, no one will stop them.
The staff gestured for them to stay where they were and not to leave.
Meng Fanxi thought to himself, "So there really is a commentary segment."
A few seconds later, a soft laugh came from the surround sound system in the room.
It was Fu Hanfei's voice. The members of the Eternal Six Stars team remained humble, waiting for his comments.
“You guys,” Fu Hanfei’s voice was laced with laughter, “are you deliberately leaving suspense, making us feel that this segment is indispensable to us, that we must give you high marks, and that you deserve the right to perform in this MV, so that we can see what happens next in your performance?”
Yes, Meng Fanxi admitted it in his heart, but he couldn't say it out loud.
Lin Ruohe replied, "The main rule is that it's a verse evaluation, and we all follow the rules."
Despite having recently violated the rules by requesting a room without a broadcast, Fu Hanfei didn't voice his complaints. Instead, he said seriously, "You succeeded. I really enjoyed the performance."
"Thank you, teachers." Unable to see their mentors' expressions, they obediently bowed to the camera.
Yun Mengtao said, "Actually, we had high expectations for the last program, and you lived up to those expectations. Congratulations."
Ye Ni smiled and said, "I see that your dance was choreographed by Meng Fanxi. Do you have experience in dance? I think your movements are much more complicated than the previous teams. I really like it."
Meng Fanxi shook her head, a slightly shy smile appearing on her face after receiving the praise, appearing harmless and approachable. "No, I don't have experience in this area, but I tried to choreograph this dance based on my understanding of the lyrics. Thank you for liking it, teacher."
Ye Ni exclaimed in surprise, "Oh, you're really amazing!"
Fu Hanfei then spoke up again, "Great stage idea. Your performance makes me want to extend an olive branch right now. Why don't you just choose me for the next mentor collaboration stage? Let's work together."
Zhu Lou said "Eh, eh" twice, disagreeing, "How could it be so sudden? I also want to collaborate with them. Your rap skills are actually quite good. I don't remember having a single professional rapper or rap specialist."
The unfamiliar words "mentor collaboration stage" suddenly popped into my head. What does it mean? Is it a spoiler for the stage that will follow?
Was it a collaborative stage he had seen in other talent shows?
