Chapter 61 Can the successor reconcile as before?

Chapter 61 Can the successor reconcile as before?

It was late at night, the moon was slanting, and in the luxurious ward at the end of the 13th floor, a man lay on the white single bed with his eyes closed, his hands folded on his chest, like a poppy flower rotting in the mud, quietly waiting to decay.

Hateful and abominable, at least it's not a pity.

The occasional slight movement outside the corridor disturbs people's sweet dreams. In a dark environment, people's hearing is always more sensitive than usual.

With the unceremonious sound of the door being pushed open, the endlessly prolonged tinnitus in Fang Qingzhuo's ears suddenly stopped, and a denial immediately popped up in Fang Qingzhuo's mind: it wasn't her.

The next second, Fang Jueshan came in through that door, and the ceiling chandelier was immediately lit up.

"When you wake up, get up and explain it to me."

The light was so bright that Fang Qingzhuo didn't even bother to open his eyes. He turned his head away and pretended to be dumbfounded: "I don't understand. What's there to explain?"

"Okay." Fang Jueshan changed the question, "What were you doing in the cemetery before the incident?"

His voice, now completely recovered, was completely still as Fang Qingzhuo sang nonchalantly, "I woke up too early, and was bored, so I went to chat with my mom."

"Don't tell the truth yet."

"Ask her for help."

"What's the favor?"

"Ask her to tell the King of Hell not to take me in."

"If you're afraid of death, why do you still step on the accelerator?"

Fang Qingzhuo said calmly: "Isn't this good?"

His frivolous attitude undoubtedly ignited the anger that had been dormant for days. Fang Jueshan grabbed the glass vase from the bedside table and swung it at the bed, but just as he let go, he changed direction and threw it towards the wall. "Stupid! How could I have given birth to such an idiot as you?"

“…”

Hearing something was wrong, the general assistant who was waiting at the door ran into the inner room immediately and witnessed his boss getting angry, which was a rare occasion. He could neither persuade nor help.

In contrast, Fang Qingzhuo was as still as a pool of stagnant water, without any reaction at all.

Fang Jueshan didn't tolerate him either. He pointed at his nose and continued to curse: "If you can't figure it out, just lie here forever. I don't mind supporting a loser for the rest of my life."

Upon hearing this, Fang Qingzhuo opened his eyelids and jumped up suddenly in shock, but he completely forgot about his current physical condition. His big movements affected his severely damaged internal organs, and his facial features were instantly distorted with pain.

Seeing this, the chief assistant hurried forward to help him sit down, with a pillow behind his back. Fang Qingzhuo was still very emotional. He covered his chest and calmed down for a moment, then glared at Fang Jueshan: "Who wants to be your successor? Who wants to be your son? Have you ever cared about me since I was a child? You only know how to run after her butt. It's not enough to run alone, you have to drag me along. I hate those cold and icy principles. I hate to be treated coldly. What's wrong with being a loser? I learned that from you."

The cold white light from above his head shone on the lenses of Fang Jueshan's glasses, reflecting an extremely forbearing light. He had lived for most of his life and had spent most of his life scheming and scheming, but he always failed to learn his lesson and fell in the same place again and again. If Fang Qingzhuo had not been so clever this time, he would not have known that his image was in such a mess.

But so what, there is no right or wrong in this world, only perspective...

Fang Jueshan looked back condescendingly, and in the blink of an eye he regained his usual composure.

"Even if you're extremely reluctant and disgusted, as long as my blood still flows in your veins, you have to grit your teeth and endure it. Tang Zhu, let's go."

Before leaving, the chief assistant pressed the bedside call bell attentively.

Fang Qingzhuo drooped his head, twisting the wrinkled quilt with his fingers. But in just a few seconds, someone came into the room in an orderly manner and cleaned every corner inside and outside, leaving it spotless. The vase on the bedside table was also replaced with a new one, as if the quarrel had never happened.

I don’t know how much time passed before the atmosphere returned to calm and I heard light footsteps.

"What? Did you come back because you didn't scold me enough..." Fang Qingzhuo raised his peripheral vision, and the impatient words he hadn't finished immediately dissipated between his lips and teeth. His eyes moved up and fixed on the face he had been thinking about day and night. His lips trembled, and his right eyelid twitched uncontrollably. Every syllable he uttered was filled with uncertainty. "Luo Shu, you came to see me?"

Luo Shu didn't respond, even though she wasn't sure if the purpose of her visit was to verify the "he's done" lie or some other psychological reasoning. She glanced at him with the bouquet she'd bought before the shop closed, then tidied the bedside table a bit, placing the flowers one by one in a vase. At this moment, Fang Qingzhuo trembled and hugged her from behind, probing with a little touch: "I miss you so much. I've been thinking about you since I woke up."

She didn't refuse, but then completely circled him. "I thought I'd never see you again, and you came to see me. Were you worried about me? I'm fine. It was raining that day and the tires slipped. It was just a minor accident. The doctor said I can be discharged right away after a few days of rest."

In a moment of daze, the sharp decorative leaf cut her index finger. Luo Shu stared at the bright red blood bead that emerged: "Fang Qingzhuo, stop pretending."

Fang Qingzhuo's face went blank for a moment, but he quickly said innocently, "What am I pretending to be?"

"I heard everything at the door just now. The car accident was not an accident. You had to be so willful. Don't you know what I said in anger at that time?" After yelling this, Luo Shu was shaking all over.

The slender fingers that were wrapped around her waist were removed one by one, and Fang Qingzhuo lowered his eyelids, savoring her words.

"capricious?"

These two short words revealed too much, and they were completely different from the pitiful and cautious Fang Qingzhuo who had just hugged her.

The flowers were soaked in water and placed. Luo Shu turned around. Fang Qingzhuo was leaning against the head of the bed with a pale face. He couldn't pretend anymore and simply showed a self-deprecating expression.

"You all think I'm just being petty, but I'm the only one who knows this is my last hope."

Before coming here, Luo Shu had mentally prepared herself more than once. Fang Qingzhuo was too crazy. In order to win back the relationship, he could not hesitate to crash into the green belt just because of her angry words. She had to stay calm and have a good talk with him.

"Have you ever considered the consequences? What will happen to you? What will happen to your dreams? What will happen to your family? If something bad happens, how will others see me? Will you be happy if I spend the rest of my life blaming myself and regretting it?"

"Luo Shu, you really underestimated your position in my heart." Fang Qingzhuo paused, smiling broadly, a smile that was no less striking even on his sickbed. "You are much more important than them. And how could I bear to see you being criticized? Even if I were unlucky and met with misfortune, I have signed a life and death agreement to ensure that you would be safe."

Luo Shu was so surprised that she couldn't utter a word and trembled even more violently.

Fang Qingzhuo caught a glimpse of a hint of red on her fingertips. He reached out and picked it up, examining it for a while, as if wondering when she got hurt. He ignored her objections and forcefully put it in his mouth, sucking until no more blood could be squeezed out.

Luo Shu felt bad luck and struggled to break free, but Fang Qingzhuo would never do what she wanted. She had to seize the opportunity that was given to her tightly. "No regrets on this move. If you don't even care about my life, then I have no bargaining chips to speak of."

Struggling to no avail, Luo Shu resigned herself to his fate and let him lead her: "So do you think you won the bet?"

He frowned and quickly pretended to be embarrassed: "Of course it depends on you. If you want me to win, I win. If you want me to lose, I lose."

I have to admit that Fang Qingzhuo's frail appearance is really pitiful. The ordinary hospital gown looks much more pleasing to the eye, and the originally pale lips seem to be reborn with the blessing of her blood, making her look like a natural sickly beauty.

Half of her arm felt numb. Luo Shu was joking, but her expression was not at all joking. On the contrary, it was very serious. "Fang Qingzhuo, you like gambling so much. You must have been a gambler in your previous life."

"Whatever you say is what it is." He didn't argue.

"Aren't you curious about why the world is your home?"

"If you want me to be curious, then I will be curious." He showed his obedient side again.

Luo Shu didn't buy his trick: "Because in your previous life, you deserved to die alone."

He immediately responded: "So I met you in this life."

Luo Shu looked at him with disdain. The fact that he could still talk nonsense at this critical moment showed that he was not yet terminally ill.

"It's too late. I need to go back to school. Let go."

Fang Qingzhuo naturally refused to let go, but at this moment, the backlash from the surgery hit him even harder. He endured the tearing pain and said, "I won't let go."

As luck would have it, the nurse came in with the equipment for a routine check and saw the man and woman struggling. She was stuck there for a moment, not knowing what to do. Then she gritted her teeth and persuaded them to do a routine check today no matter what.

Fang Qingzhuo said with a bad face: "No investigation."

Luo Shu glanced at him silently with displeasure, and he immediately restrained himself and obeyed: "Come in."

During a series of basic tests, including taking temperatures and drawing blood, Fang Qingzhuo had no choice but to let go of the person next to him. He kept a cautious eye on the person next to him, as if afraid that person would run away. The nurse in charge of recording the data at the back couldn't help but curiously follow his paranoid gaze and look at Luo Shu. After seeing her face clearly, she pointed at her and said, "Hey, aren't you the person who was lingering at the door a few nights ago?"

As soon as these words were spoken, the lingering tension between Fang Qingzhuo's brows disappeared.

Luo Shu turned her face away and refused to admit it: "You got the wrong person, I haven't been here."

The young nurse naively thought she was forgetful and reminded her, "You forgot, I was on duty that night and I asked you if you were a relative of this family. Seeing you looked worried, I reassured you that it was nothing serious."

"Stop talking."

The subsequent examination went exceptionally smoothly and quickly, perhaps due to the skilled operation of the medical staff or the cooperation of the person being examined.

In light of the previous episode, the ward finally enjoyed a hard-earned moment of peace.

Fang Qingzhuo tilted his upper body and continued to stare at Luo Shu tirelessly, without saying a word. The complex emotions in his eyes seemed to be about to burst out, but Luo Shu seemed to be deliberately avoiding something. She stared at the TV with a sullen face and stiff neck. Even though the TV screen on the wall was black and there was no picture on it, she was still watching with great interest.

This stubborn look of trying to cover up one's own faults was deeply engraved in Fang Qingzhuo's heart.

While reflecting on himself, he leaned forward, opened the drawer, took out the remote control and actually turned on the TV.

The moment the background sound of the TV came on, it obviously scared someone who was daydreaming in outer space, and he almost jumped up from the bench.

Fang Qingzhuo quietly lowered the volume again. The TV was playing a popular youth idol drama on the local TV station. The two of them tried not to make any noise and tacitly maintained the current peaceful time together.

The episode ended with a commercial break. Luo Shu stood up and resolutely left. Before she could rush out, Fang Qingzhuo said solemnly, "I promise I'll never joke about my body again."

"Okay." She agreed quickly.

"It's not moral kidnapping."

"Um."

"Can we reconcile?"

The only response he got was the sound of a door closing and the words, "Don't be mean to yourself. I'll come see you tomorrow."
