Chapter 128 Inquiry

Looking at the water in front of her, Lin Yue's dull eyes finally regained some luster.

"Cang Yu, I really saw my parents, but they can't see me. I... I don't know what happened, do you know?" Lin Yue asked, her eyes full of doubt, as she reached out and grabbed Cang Yu's arm.

Cang Yu is a reincarnation, so he definitely knows more than she does.

"Yueyue, perhaps you could ask Kongling, but she didn't look well just now, so you might have to wait a while before you can ask her."

Kongling looked as if she was about to disappear; her face was so pale it was almost transparent.

“Yes, yes, I can ask Kong Ling. Kong Ling said that when she can leave the space, I will know everything.” With that, Lin Yue went directly into the space, and Cang Yu, who had been dragged along by Lin Yue, also followed her into Lin Yue’s space.

As soon as the two entered the space, Lin Yue searched for Kong Ling's figure and found her eating in the living room of the small villa. She quickly teleported there.

This time she didn't bring Cang Yu with her, because she let him go after she came in.

Cang Yu looked at the small Western-style building in the distance and could only walk over there by himself.

Kongling sat on the table, surrounded by a pile of food, all high-calorie and highly nutritious items, such as ginseng chicken soup and Ganoderma lucidum powder. She kept stuffing food into her mouth, her little mouth like a bottomless pit.

She usually enjoys eating, but she wouldn't do it so recklessly.

Seeing that Kong Ling was behaving strangely, Lin Yue remembered what Cang Yu had said earlier, and stared at Kong Ling for a long time.

Cang Yu was right. Kong Ling looked terrible; her face was pale, and she looked like she was about to collapse at any moment.

Lin Yue sat down to the side, not saying a word, just watching Kong Ling eat.

Upon seeing the ethereal scene, she suddenly calmed down, and the anxiety she had felt earlier was inexplicably soothed, leaving her no longer confused.

Lin Yue sat and waited for a long time, until Cang Yu arrived, but she still hadn't asked Kong Ling a question.

After Cang Yu came over, he didn't say anything, but quietly sat down next to Lin Yue and kept her company while watching Kong Ling eat.

After finishing most of the food piled in front of her, Kong Ling seemed to finally catch her breath, and her complexion was no longer as bad as before.

They need energy to maintain their space, and even more energy to connect with the outside world. If their energy is depleted, they have to replenish it by eating.

Actually, the best medicine to replenish her energy is heart's blood, but we don't have any right now, so we can only make do with these supplements.

"Yueyue, ask whatever you want. I'll tell you everything I can." The implication was that she wouldn't say a word about anything she couldn't say.

"Are you alright? How did things get like that? Why don't you eat something else and rest a bit, then I'll ask you something," Lin Yue said, looking at Kong Ling.

She has a lot to say and a lot to ask, but now she is more worried about Kong Ling.

Kongling had already thought about how to answer Lin Yue's questions about her parents, but she didn't expect that Lin Yue would not ask the question she had been thinking about right away, but instead asked about her health.

Just like those two people, they made her feel very warm.

"Yueyue, I'm fine, don't worry, ask whatever you want!" Kongling smiled.

This was something Lin Yue had always wanted to know, and now that she had seen it with her own eyes, she could answer some of the questions.

Lin Yue glanced at her, thought for a moment, and then said, "Kong Ling, I saw my parents at the entrance of the base."

She suddenly didn't know where to start, so she could only begin with this.

"I know, I saw it." She was right there, how could she not know?

"Why did they suddenly appear?" After sitting for so long, she calmed down and realized that what she saw was not the real world. Here, her parents had already passed away.

“What you saw was your parents in a parallel universe. There, you were eaten alive by those dozen or so people, just like you saw in your dream. You are already dead over there, so they can’t see you,” Kongling answered truthfully.

"Are they here because of you?" She needed to figure that out first.

"Yes! When I go out, if you are close by, you might see them." She serves as the medium, connecting the intersection of parallel universes.

This ability shouldn't be used too much; if she uses it too much, she'll really have to go back to being a bedbug.

"Since they can live in that parallel universe, why..." Shouldn't they be able to live here too?

Kongling knew what Lin Yue was going to say next. She carefully considered her words before saying, "Yueyue, this was their choice, but the timing was wrong, which led to the deviation in the result."

The problem was simply that the timing of their return was wrong. So, while it changed Lin Yue's fate, it also changed their ultimate fate.

"What choice did they make?" Lin Yue continued to ask.

Their choice was to let her live while they died?

"Yueyue, I can't tell you yet. If you want to know, you'll have to find out for yourself."

She's pushing the boundaries too hard right now, and if she accidentally goes too far, she'll really become a scourge.

Kongling said she couldn't say, so Lin Yue didn't ask anymore. Instead, she asked a different question: "Kongling, you said before that they used their heart's blood to exchange wishes with you. Was that something that happened in that parallel universe?"

“Yes.” Kong Ling looked at Cang Yu, paused for a moment, and continued, “They wanted to warn you, so they exchanged their heart’s blood for your wish. Cang Yu… coincidentally saved them in his past life. They thought he was a good person, and you never wanted to be in a relationship before, only wanting to stay with them. So they hoped you could have a boyfriend to take care of you and keep you company. Cang Yu was their top choice, so he was the first person they chose to make the deal.”

Cang Yu hadn't expected this turn of events. No wonder most of the items that came out of Lin Yue's space were in pairs and could fit his size. So that's what was going on.

"What if I hadn't appeared by Lin Yue's side?" Cang Yu finally couldn't help but ask.

Kong Ling, who had never gotten along with Cang Yu, glared at him irritably: "If you don't show up, there must be a second, third, or fourth male lead! Just move on and find someone else!"

Lin Yue felt a little better when she remembered Kong Ling asking her if she wanted to change the person.

However, her original thought was correct: she was able to survive because her parents risked their lives, and now her feelings are a bit complicated.

"Yueyue, don't think too much. Just live well. They want you to live well, don't they?" Kongling said to Lin Yue when she saw that Lin Yue was starting to get conflicted again.

Cang Yu also noticed that something was wrong with her, and unusually agreed with Kong Ling: "Kong Ling is right, Yueyue, they hope you can live well."

Lin Yue remained silent for a while before nodding.

"I know."

She just couldn't accept the fact that they left. She had kept it to herself until she saw them today, and that's when she broke down again.

Now, she can put it aside for the time being, but she will not give up.

Kongling said that this was their choice, so something must have happened afterward. Perhaps she could make a different choice, and maybe then her family could all live a good life.
