After a long day, even the strongest body gets tired. I wanted to take the elevator, but it was under maintenance, so I had to take the stairs.
As Lin Yue went upstairs, she took out a bottle of water from her bag. The water was spiritual spring water stored in her spatial storage. After taking a sip, she immediately felt comfortable.
When I climbed to the eighth floor, the door of one of the apartments opened, and an old lady came out.
When the old lady saw Lin Yue, she immediately stopped her and smiled disdainfully.
"Get out of the way!" Lin Yue didn't waste any words, just stared straight at the old lady.
What she meant by being kind to others vanished completely after her parents passed away.
The old lady curled her lip, ignoring Lin Yue's words, and continued, "Lin Yue, you're back so late, did you just sell yourself? I'll give you money, you can work overtime and keep my son company. Don't worry, you won't lose out. A used woman like you, I'll give you a hundred for a night, see, you've made a killing!"
The old woman acted as if she were giving Lin Yue a handout.
Lin Yue sneered and reached into her bag to pull out a fruit knife.
Although her family had only moved in less than a year ago, her parents already knew almost everything about the building, and there were quite a few people gossiping about it.
The old woman's son is mentally challenged; at forty years old, he can't take care of himself and just stares at people and smiles foolishly.
The old woman's husband had died long ago, and the gossip about her and her son was just as numerous and far more widespread than hers; it wasn't exactly clean either.
Lin Yue twirled the fruit knife in her hand with flair: "If you're not afraid of dying, then call him up."
The old woman was startled when Lin Yue pulled out the knife and jumped right to her own doorstep.
"What are you doing? Murder is illegal. If you dare touch me, I'll scream and make sure you can't stay here anymore." Thinking of this, his wife straightened her back and her eyes became fierce.
Lin Yue suddenly burst into a crazy laugh: "You shout, do you think I'm afraid of you? I have no family, no friends, come on if you're not afraid of dying."
The old woman was startled again by Lin Yue's appearance. Remembering that Lin Yue's parents were dead and that her relatives and friends had all left cursing and swearing when they came to visit, her anger finally subsided.
His voice trembled as he said, "You just wait."
After saying that, she immediately closed the door, went home and crawled into bed without even feeling hot. Her silly son, grinning foolishly, also went into the room.
Lin Yue put away the knife and continued climbing the stairs to get home.
She didn't practice in the morning, but as soon as she got home, she hit the punching bag for a while before washing up and going to bed.
On the third night, I still didn't dream and woke up promptly at six o'clock.
Perhaps she stopped dreaming because she started preparing for the apocalypse?
Without dwelling on it too much, Lin Yue washed up and immediately went out.
I grabbed some steamed buns and booked a hundred tables to start today's itinerary.
Today's schedule is still to fill the water tower and go to the countryside to collect vegetables, including not only seasonal vegetables but also some greenhouse vegetables.
There's also oil refueling and oil extraction, just from a different direction.
For ten consecutive days, Lin Yue kept her schedule packed full.
Large items such as diesel generators, rubber boats, inflatable boats, shelves, gas cylinders, gas stoves, coal briquettes, coal stoves, charcoal, solar generators, filters, sleds, snowmobiles, and firewood have all been prepared and are properly stored in the space.
They also brought power banks and dry cell batteries, making sure they were fully stocked.
I bought dozens of axes, kitchen knives, machetes, hoes, and shovels.
During this time, she also went to the warehouse to collect the rice and flour from the back, refunded the warehouse rent, and paid Uncle Li and the others their wages. Presumably because they had shown her kindness, she gave each of them two bags of grain and suggested that they stock up on food at home.
He then donated 100,000 jin of rice to impoverished areas, using this as a reason to justify his contribution.
Having traveled to many places in the past two weeks, Lin Yue has filled 100 oil drums with diesel fuel, each drum holding 200 liters, for a total of 20,000 liters.
She then purchased another hundred oil drums, preparing to continue using her gasoline-powered truck to load gasoline.
At 7 p.m. on June 3, Lin Yue was lying in bed doing accounts.
I bought a lot of things later, but since I didn't need to buy them in large quantities for things that cost money, and the things that could be bought in large quantities were quite cheap, I didn't spend much money except for rice, noodles and ordering food.
After all that, she spent a total of 7.06 million on these items, leaving her with 4.1 million.
With thirteen days left until the apocalypse, she planned to spend two million of the money on various medicines, and the rest on food, clothing, and other necessities.
She had no connections for weapons, but medicine...
Lin Yue found her university professor's phone number and called him.
Lin Yue's graduate advisor's family owns a chain of pharmacies, so they definitely have connections to buy medicine. In addition, his family also owns a pharmaceutical factory.
The call was connected within seconds.
"Lin Yue, have you encountered any difficulties? Tell me how much money you need, and I'll lend it to you first," Professor Qi said gently.
He had heard about Lin Yue's family situation, but as a male mentor, he couldn't very well offer to help his prized student.
Upon hearing this, Lin Yue's usually cold and hard face softened considerably.
"Teacher Qi, thank you for your concern. I don't need the money, but there's something I'd like to ask you for help with."
"Tell me what's wrong, and I'll see if I can help."
"I'd like to purchase a batch of medicines worth two million, including some commonly used antipyretics, anti-inflammatory drugs, painkillers, hemostatics, fever-reducing patches, bandages, and the like. Basically, I want to buy some of everything I can get my hands on. Is that alright with you?"
The medicine is very expensive when sold in pharmacies, but the actual factory price is very cheap. Two million can buy a lot of medicine; she probably wouldn't be able to use it all up in two lifetimes.
