Chapter 29 - Two-in-one corn planting? Where did you learn that...?
Lin Chuntao returned home carrying eggs. The buckwheat rice was already being steamed for the second time, with steam rising from the top of the steamer.
Seeing her carrying a winnowing basket in one hand and a half-basket of eggs in the other, Lin Chunxing and Lin Chunhe quickly ran over, one taking the winnowing basket and the other carrying the eggs.
"Sis, why did you buy so many eggs?"
"Because I want to eat it."
Lin Chunxing: "..."
Eggs, who wouldn't want to eat them?
When my mother was alive, they could eat boiled eggs every year on their birthdays, and sweet eggs on the morning of the first day of the Lunar New Year. On ordinary days, when they ate scrambled eggs, my mother would give each of them a little bit, regardless of what others thought.
Since my mother passed away, I haven't been able to eat eggs, let alone noodles, on my birthday. Nobody cares about me.
On the first day of the Lunar New Year, each person gets two sweet eggs in soup. When Grandma takes out the eggs, my aunt doesn't count the four sisters when she's cooking them. At first, I thought it was because they didn't get up early enough, so they weren't included. But later I found out that even if you squat at the kitchen door, looking on longingly, people will treat you like you don't exist.
Lin Chuntao complained to Lin Changhe, but Lin Changhe just casually remarked, "What's so great about an egg?"
Talking to her biological father was useless, so her sister stopped talking about it.
I thought things would get even worse after I was kicked out of my house, but I never expected that I would be able to eat chicken cracklings, white rice, mutton rice noodles, and now I can even eat eggs.
She looked up at Lin Chuntao, and she thought she would always remember Lin Chuntao calling her dear sister and telling her not to listen to others.
After Lin Chuntao handed the bamboo basket to Lin Chunxing, she strode over and lifted the straw lid on the steamer to see how the food was ready.
The dough pieces have changed color and will be ready to eat in no time.
She turned around and saw Lin Chunxing staring at her with deep affection.
"What's wrong? Is there something on my face?"
Lin Chunxing snapped out of her reverie, pursed her lips, and smiled: "Yes, my sister is as beautiful as a flower."
Lin Chuntao hissed and shivered. She went over and gently punched Lin Chunxing.
"Ugh~ I'm getting goosebumps."
Lin Chunxing laughed as she carried the eggs back into the house and carefully placed them on the grain cabinet.
"I've already washed the tomatoes, but I don't know how you want to cut them, so I haven't cut them yet."
Lin Chuntao looked at the tomatoes in the bowl and said softly, "Wash another one, and wash a tender melon too."
"Okay."
Lin Chunxing agreed and went to get a tomato and a tender melon before running outside.
As soon as she stepped outside, she saw Pei Ying carrying bamboo in. She called out to greet him, and Pei Ying asked, "Has your sister returned?"
Lin Duo'er answered quickly, "Sister is back, she's inside."
Lin Chuntao went outside upon hearing the noise, and Pei Ying asked her, "What are you going to do with this bamboo? Should we cut it shorter now?"
"It needs to be cut shorter."
Lin Chuntao walked over, gestured to indicate the length, and then said, "Split one end in the middle, cut off a section, and slightly sharpen the remaining half."
Pei Ying frowned slightly as she listened to her description.
"What are you doing?"
Lin Duo'er and Lin Chunhe, who were standing next to her, also looked at her with puzzled expressions, waiting for an answer.
Lin Chuntao smiled and said, "It's for sowing tomorrow."
"Use this to sow seeds?"
Seeing Pei Ying's puzzled expression, Lin Chuntao smiled and said, "That's right, aren't we planting corn? When the land is tilled, we can pick off the weed roots, just take this and insert it into the loosened soil holes, and put the corn seeds in."
"Isn't this planting too shallow?" Pei Ying asked.
Lin Chuntao shook her head. "No, there are techniques when plowing the land, so the soil won't be too thin."
Pei Ying seemed thoughtful and unsure, but Lin Chuntao spoke with such conviction that he did as she said.
"Make six or seven."
Lin Chuntao gave a few instructions and then went to cook the dishes.
Lin Chuntao has experimented with many different steps for making scrambled eggs with tomatoes. She has tried frying the eggs first and then adding the tomatoes, or frying the eggs first and then adding the tomatoes. She feels that each method has its own drawbacks. She feels that the former method doesn't allow the tomato juice to develop properly and doesn't make the tomatoes flavorful enough, while the latter method does make the tomatoes flavorful enough. However, she feels that the eggs are overcooked and she doesn't like the texture.
Her favorite way is to first chop a tomato and add a little water to make a thick tomato sauce, then add the remaining tomato pieces and stir-fry together. After the tomatoes are cooked, she sets them aside, washes the pan, heats the oil, cracks in an egg, and pours in the egg mixture when the oil is hot. When the egg mixture has all puffed up, she pours in the cooked tomatoes, and the sauce is absorbed into the eggs.
Stir-fry, add salt, and serve. Sprinkle with some bright green scallions. The tomato sauce coats the golden eggs, making the eggs look tender and delicious.
The younger sisters watched from the sidelines, their mouths watering.
She was about to cook hot pot when Lin Duo'er quickly said, "Sister, mix some rice for me."
Lin Chuntao quickly understood what she meant, scooped in two spoonfuls of rice and mixed it. The rice was absorbed by the dough, and the whole pot was clean.
After serving the rice, she rinsed the pot and started stir-frying the tender melon shreds. The shredded melon cooked very quickly. As she stir-fried, Lin Chuntao called out, "Wash your hands, get bowls and chopsticks to serve the rice, we can eat right away."
Lin Chunxing led her two younger sisters over to fetch water to wash their hands and to get bowls to serve rice.
The rice was served, and Pei Ying came over to wash her hands. The shredded melon in the pot was also cooked, and Lin Chuntao scooped it up and took it in.
After sitting down, everyone's first bite was the tomato and egg. The rich tomato juice tangily coated the tender golden egg, and the younger girls' cheeks were bulging, their eyes looking at her with satisfaction. Pei Ying followed suit and took a bite, and her pupils dilated immediately.
He usually boils eggs and eats them whole after they're cooked.
Today I feel like I've been eating eggs wrong all these years!
"This broth would be delicious with noodles too."
Lin Chuntao smiled and said, "I can try making it later, but kneading dough for noodles is too tiring; it takes a long time."
“I’ll massage it then.” After Pei Ying finished speaking, Lin Chuntao looked up at him, her eyelids lifting and falling again, as if she were looking at something else through his clothes.
Upon noticing this, Pei Ying lowered her eyes and buried her head in her food, avoiding eye contact with her.
Three tomatoes, five eggs—Lin Chunhe ate until the very end. She then scooped some rice into the mixture, stirred it, and ate it all, even the broth.
After dinner, while washing the dishes, Lin Chunhe said to Lin Chuntao, "Sister, teach me how to cook this. I want to learn, it's delicious."
Hearing this, Lin Duo'er also ran over to join in the fun.
"I want one too! I want one too!"
Looking at the two of them, Lin Chuntao said, "Sure, I'll teach you how to cook it in a few days."
After cleaning up the dishes, we grabbed our farm tools, locked the door, and everyone went to the fields together.
The sandy areas on the back hill had fewer weeds, and further up was forest. They continued to cut grass, Pei Ying went to cut pine branches, and Lin Chunhe and Lin Duo'er gathered firewood in the forest.
After cutting down a lot of pine branches, Pei Ying also cut down some lush shrubs to burn along with them.
Today, everyone was in the fields, cutting and burning as they went. Lin Chuntao and the others were also cutting weeds around the area. The older weeds were cut and thrown directly into the fire to turn into ashes.
They cut until the afternoon, and Lin Chuntao felt her palms were burning, so she called to Lin Chunxing and the others to sit down and rest together.
Not long after we rested, my cousins from yesterday showed up carrying baskets on their backs.
Lin Chunxing called out, "Qingqing, where are you going?"
"Have you finished cutting that weeds over there to cut pig feed?"
"No, do you want to come up? We have some tender pig feed that you can cut."
At Lin Chunxing's call, four or five people ran up with baskets on their backs. There was indeed some pig feed to cut here; the old feed could be cut and burned, and the tender feed could be taken back to feed the pigs.
Six or seven teenagers were working in one field. Apart from being a bit noisy with their chatter, they were actually quite fast at their work.
By evening, they had cut enough pig feed and cleared most of the weeds from the four plots of land. After a day of working in the fields, everyone was starving. Lin Chuntao checked the ashes from the burning plants and found that they were almost enough. She dug up some soil to cover the ashes, and the group went home together with hoes and sickles.
When it was time to part ways, Lin Chuntao looked at the girls and said, "Come to my house for dinner tonight."
They all shook their heads, saying they would come back to play after they finished eating.
When I got home, I first fed the piglets the pig feed I had cut, then washed my hands and feet and started a fire to steam rice.
Lin Chuntao said, "Let's keep it simple tonight. After dinner, we need to render lard and cook meat, otherwise we won't have time to cook tomorrow morning because we have to work."
That's what she said, but Lin Duo'er and the others only heard about rendering lard and cooking meat. They couldn't wait to cook potatoes and sweet potatoes for this meal and quickly render the lard so they could eat the cracklings.
"Hehe, we can eat anything."
Lin Chuntao kept things simple, quickly washing a cabbage, cutting off some fat from the pork neck with a knife, and slicing an eggplant.
Once the rice is steamed, put the fatty pork in the pan and fry it until golden brown. Then add the cabbage and stir-fry. A simple dish of stir-fried cabbage with pork cracklings is ready.
She made the eggplant dish even simpler, just stir-frying it with some garlic.
There wasn't enough seasoning, otherwise she would also make eggplant and diced noodles with sauce, and she loves to eat it.
I was so hungry after working all afternoon that I ate my dinner with great relish.
After eating, no one rested. Lin Chuntao quickly started cutting lard and rendering the oil.
Pei Ying was still pruning the bamboo, while Lin Duo'er and the others stood around the pot, staring at it without blinking.
After Lin Qingqing and the others finished eating, they made plans to visit Lin Chunxing and her sisters. As they approached the courtyard, they smelled a rich aroma of meat, and Lin Jiaye sniffed.
"Can you smell something like someone rendering lard?"
Lin Qingqing also twitched her nose. "It seems so."
"Whose rendered lard smells so strong and wafts so far?!"
As they walked and talked, they never expected that Lin Chuntao and her group were rendering lard.
Lin Chuntao invited them to dinner yesterday and today, but they didn't come. They felt that Lin Chuntao and the others had been kicked out and were having a much harder time than them.
Lin Qingqing said she wanted to come and play, so Lin Chuntao didn't close the courtyard gate.
The group went straight into the courtyard upon arrival.
"Chun Xing?"
Hearing the shouts, Lin Chunxing hurried out. When she saw that it was the girls, she quickly called them in and then bolted the gate.
Seeing that only Pei Ying was working in the yard and Lin Chunhe and the others were nowhere to be seen, Lin Qingqing asked, "Have you not eaten yet?"
"I ate, I just finished eating a little while ago."
As Lin Chunxing finished speaking, Lin Jiaye was still sniffing, "Why is the smell of cooking oil getting stronger and stronger?"
Lin Chunxing smiled at him and said softly, "My sister is making pork cracklings. Come inside and play."
Hearing her words, Lin Qingqing and Lin Jiaye suddenly felt a little embarrassed. If they had known that it was Lin Chuntao and the others who were making the pork cracklings, they wouldn't have come in.
But now that they were already in the yard, they were in a dilemma. Lin Qingqing smiled and said, "Chunxing, let's play in the yard."
Lin Chunxing knew what they were thinking, of course. In this village, every child would be told by the adults that if they went visiting someone's house and saw someone cooking something, they should hurry home. Even if someone was just cooking a sweet potato, they shouldn't watch over it, let alone when they were rendering pork cracklings.
Even if you really want to eat it, you can't just stare at someone else's pot and drool.
Lin Chuntao was stirring the pot inside the house. Watching them dawdle in the yard, she got up and went to the door, calling out, "Qingqing, Jiaye, come inside."
"Sister Chuntao, let's play in the yard."
That's what she said, but Lin Chunxing had already dragged them into the house.
Seeing them come in, Lin Chunhe and Lin Duo'er brought out chairs for them to sit on.
Lin Qingqing and Lin Chunxing are the same age, while Lin Jiaye is a year older. Another cousin, Lin Dongxue, and a younger cousin, Lin Jiatie, are younger, but they are all quite sensible. At this moment, they felt uncomfortable in the room.
Pei Ying came in halfway through, and the group awkwardly greeted him, "Brother-in-law."
Pei Ying smiled and agreed, then went out to get busy.
Looking at Lin Chuntao again, she didn't show any displeasure, which made Lin Qingqing and the others feel a little more at ease.
As the oil cracklings were almost cooked, Lin Chuntao removed some firewood and called Chunxing to bring a bowl to scoop them out. Lin Jiaye and the others stood up and said, "Sister, it's getting dark and we won't be able to see the road clearly. We'll go back first and come back to play tomorrow."
Lin Chuntao glanced at them and said, "Wait a while before you leave, have a couple of pieces of fried pork cracklings."
"No, no, I'm still full after dinner." Lin Qingqing waved her hand to refuse. Lin Chuntao laughed and said, "What's the filling of two pieces of pork cracklings? You guys helped me with the work for two days. I should have cooked for you and called you over to eat, but you didn't come."
As she spoke, she scooped out the oil residue and handed it to Lin Chunxing, instructing her, "Sprinkle some salt on it and mix it."
Lin Qingqing wanted to say that they hadn't worked for more than two days, but Lin Chuntao was carrying the oil pot, and she was afraid of affecting Lin Chuntao, so she didn't say anything.
Lin Chuntao moved the oil pan aside to cool, then took a pair of chopsticks to stir the cracklings. She then took a small bowl and scooped some in. Rendering lard with pork fat yields more oil but less cracklings, so Lin Chuntao also cut some fatty pork neck meat into the bowl to make more cracklings.
She stirred it, tasted one piece and it wasn't too hot anymore, then asked Lin Chunxing to bring it over so she could eat two pieces herself.
Lin Qingqing and the others looked at the golden pork cracklings, which smelled so good that their mouths watered, as if they hadn't eaten for a day and a night.
Lin Chunxing brought the food over and distributed it. Of course they wanted to eat it, but they were also uneasy.
Lin Qingqing still remembers the year Chun Tao's mother passed away. During the funeral feast, her aunt Zhang made pork cracklings, and Lin Jiabao and his brothers each received three pieces. Lin Chun Tao and the others were also there at the time, but her aunt didn't give them a single piece.
Seeing Lin Chunxing put some fried pork cracklings on Lin Qingqing's plate, Lin Qingqing hesitated for a while before Lin Chuntao said, "Qingqing, hurry up and eat. We didn't make much this time, just two or three pieces for each person to taste. When I have more money in the future, I'll make more so you can eat as much as you want."
Lin Qingqing looked up at Lin Chuntao, as if they were both thinking of that day, and smiled at each other.
After eating the cracklings and waiting for the oil to cool down, Lin Chuntao went to put it into an earthenware jar.
Lin Chuntao cut off about two pounds of pork neck meat, which still had some lean meat in it. She could make stir-fried pork later, and she would just boil the rest.
She used to live with her maternal grandmother. After entering Dongyue Village, every household started slaughtering pigs. Every day, she was either eating a pig-slaughtering feast or on her way to one.
On the day of the pig-slaughtering feast, many families will cook and eat pork neck meat.
According to local customs, the meat is always cut into square pieces, the bigger the better, as it shows the generosity of the host. Whenever Lin Chuntao went to eat the pig-slaughtering feast with her grandmother, she was most afraid that someone would put a piece of meat on her plate.
Whenever someone puts food on someone's plate, Grandma would stop them, saying she would put the food on the plate for Lin Chuntao, and then she would put a small piece on the plate for Lin Chuntao.
Once, when they couldn't find any lean meat, her grandmother gave her a piece with fat and skin, dipped it in a spicy sauce, and she took a bite. She then realized that the fat wasn't greasy at all; on the contrary, it was chewy and had a texture similar to pig's trotters. But it wasn't greasy at all.
No wonder the aunties who served her food always told her, "It's not greasy at all, you should try it."
She hadn't dared to try it for many years, but it turns out it really isn't greasy at all.
She washed the pork neck, cut it into two large pieces, put it in an iron pot, added a few slices of ginger, added water, covered it with a straw lid, and started cooking.
Lin Jiaye and the others were astonished to see how much meat Lin Chuntao had cooked.
Although I knew they were cooking meat because they needed to hire people to grow crops, I was still shocked; there was just too much of it.
Except when slaughtering pigs, no one cooks meat like this during the Lunar New Year; they just cut some up and stir-fry it into a bowl, which is already considered good.
After Lin Chuntao started cooking the meat, she went out of the house. Pei Ying happened to have taken out those bamboo awls, and he gave them to Lin Chuntao to check.
"What do you think? Do you want it repaired further?"
Lin Chuntao glanced at it, and it was perfect. She then smiled and said, "No need to change it."
"The pork cracklings are ready, do you want some?" Lin Chuntao asked.
Pei Ying shook her head. "I won't eat."
Lin Chuntao took the bamboo awls and put them down against the wall, then said, "I probably won't be able to go to the county town tomorrow morning. When you come back, could you please check if there are any stir-fried chili peppers at the market and buy some for me? If not, you can also try to buy some dried chili peppers."
Pei Ying nodded, remembering the chili peppers Zhao Guang and the others had put in the rice noodles.
"Let me go ask."
As darkness fell and the moon climbed higher, the house became too dark, so Lin Qingqing and Lin Chuntao played with pebbles in the yard.
The children played until the adults shouted at the top of their lungs at the door before they went home.
Lin Chuntao asked, "Do you want me to give you a ride?"
Lin Jiaye chuckled and repeatedly refused.
"Then take your time, come again when you have time."
After seeing them off, Lin Duo'er and Lin Chunhe quickly washed up and went to bed.
Lin Chunxing was thinking about tomorrow's lunch and asked Lin Chuntao what dishes she wanted to make.
The vegetables that Lin Chuntao bought from Aunt Guizhi last time are almost gone. She thought she should buy some more, but she forgot to do so earlier because she was busy. The main problem was that the knife was inconvenient to use. Pei Ying went to the county town tomorrow and she didn't know when he would be back. She couldn't wait for him to come back before cooking. Tonight, she had to cut out all the hard vegetables that needed to be chopped and set them aside so she could stir-fry them tomorrow.
Thinking this, Lin Chuntao decided to hurry over now, as Aunt Guizhi might not be asleep yet.
Lin Chunxing stayed home watching the meat cook over the fire, while Pei Ying followed Lin Chuntao to Aunt Guizhi's house to pick vegetables.
Aunt Guizhi was about to go to sleep when she saw Lin Chuntao and said with a smile, "If you want vegetables, just go pick them yourself. Why make a special trip so late at night?"
Lin Chuntao gave her the money and smiled, "Even though it's late, I still had to let you know. I'll still pick a basketful."
"Alright~ Go ahead, go ahead, you silly child."
Lin Chuntao smiled and agreed before leaving. Aunt Guizhi called out from behind, "Take it easy so late at night."
Under the moonlight, the two walked side by side.
After leaving the village and entering the vegetable garden, Pei Ying carried a bamboo basket while Lin Chuntao picked vegetables. She worked quickly, picking peppers, tomatoes, melons, cabbages, and radishes as well, which she also carried in her hand.
We don't have any jars at home, otherwise we could ask Aunt Guizhi to buy more radishes to make pickled vegetables or pickled radish strips.
Back home, Lin Chunxing helped wash the vegetables. When the water in the bucket was almost used up, Pei Ying went to fetch two more buckets by herself.
That evening, the vegetables were washed, chopped, and placed in a bamboo sieve.
Once the meat was cooked, Lin Chuntao cut out two bowls of meat chunks and set them aside, while the remaining large chunks were placed separately in a bamboo sieve to dry.
With everything prepared, Lin Chuntao went to sleep.
The next day, the system was as quiet as a chicken. Lin Chuntao slept soundly until dawn, when the sounds of chickens crowing echoed throughout the village.
She woke her sisters and said softly, "It's dawn, get up."
The younger sisters rubbed their eyes and sat up, yawning and stretching.
Lin Chuntao and Lin Chunxing said, "Get up quickly and help me start a fire. I'm going to fry two buckwheat pancakes. I need to go find Grandpa and the others and bring the cow back."
Lin Chunxing put on her shoes and went to fetch firewood, while Lin Chuntao quickly washed up and kneaded dough.
She quickly lit the fire and placed it on the pan, frying three small buckwheat pancakes. There was also some kneaded dough in the bowl, which she handed to Lin Chunxing: "You fry the rest and share them with the younger sisters. If you want eggs, boil them yourself. I'm leaving now."
She went back into the house to get the money, put on her basket, wrapped the three buckwheat cakes in cabbage leaves, and walked towards the village head's house.
She hadn't even reached the village head's house when she ran into the elderly couple on the way.
Lin Chuntao handed over the steaming hot buckwheat pancakes. The elderly couple declined, but Lin Chuntao insisted on putting them in their hands.
Looking at the pancakes she had fried, Mrs. Sun noticed that they were soft on both sides and tender inside, indicating that she had controlled the heat well. They were older and didn't like hard, crunchy things.
Even in the smallest thing, you can see Lin Chuntao's care and attention.
The old lady thought to herself, "It's not for nothing that they took care of me."
The village head and Old Man Zheng had gotten up early to wait for the oxen to be brought to them.
After selecting the ox, Old Man Zheng began to write the ox contract. He wrote down the details of the ox's color, head, horns, and body in great detail, as well as the number of days to rent, the daily rent, and the maximum amount of land the ox could plow per day, such as four mu. He also wrote down how much compensation would be paid if the ox was injured after plowing more than four mu.
After the cattle contract was written, Lin Chuntao, the village head, and the village chief all pressed their fingerprints on it. Then she paid the money, took a copy of the contract, and was able to take the cattle away.
Since it's not spring planting season, several cows are idle in the cowshed. The village head helped select a strong young cow that seemed to have a gentle temperament.
They led the cow home, but only Lin Duo'er was there; Lin Chunxing and Lin Chunhe were not.
"Where are your second and third sisters?"
"He went to cut the lawn and said he'd be back soon."
Upon hearing this, Sun and Lin smiled and said, "We still have corn stalks at home, which can be used to feed the cattle. I'll go back to get the plow and bring two bundles of hay along."
As Lin Cun was leaving, Sun stayed behind. She looked at the old house, which had been cleaned very thoroughly by Lin Chuntao and the others. A row of lush green bamboo fences added to the tidy appearance.
Lin Chuntao invited her into the house. The old lady was quite pleased to see that the house was tidy and organized.
Lin Cunzheng left quickly and returned quickly. Farmers love cattle, and he was in a hurry to bring them grass.
The corn stalks were last year's hay. He untied a bundle, sprinkled some water on it, and the cow buried its head in it and ate.
Lin Chuntao found the tools, poured out some corn seeds to be planted today and put them into the basket, and soaked the rice to be steamed at noon. She was almost ready and just waiting for the cow to eat its fill.
After the cows finished eating the two bundles of hay, it was already bright outside, and there was a patch of red clouds in the east; the sun was about to rise.
Lin Chunxing and Lin Chunhe returned. Lin Chunxing carried a full basket of green grass on her back, while Lin Chunhe was holding two large bundles in her arms.
The cow, which was almost full, turned around and walked over after seeing the green grass.
Lin Chunhe quickly tossed a bundle to it.
After eating two bundles of grass and being given some water, they were full and satisfied before being led to the ground.
Lin Cun was harnessing the oxen to the plow to get them used to it, while Lin Chuntao and Sun Shi were busy using baskets to carry away and disperse the two large piles of wood ash.
After testing the oxen, they proved to be skilled, and it's time to prepare for formal plowing.
Lin Chuntao gathered everyone together and explained her plan. She wanted to leave a shallow ditch between the two routes. Sun Shi and Lin Cunzheng both frowned and looked at her.
Lin Chuntao took the bamboo stick for planting and explained, "By pulling out the furrow, Grandma, Chunxing, and I can all plant the seeds together. This will be much faster. Otherwise, it would be tiring for one person to keep planting."
Lin Cunzheng took the bamboo stick she used for planting and examined it. The depth was just right; planting corn too deep was not good. He glanced at Lin Chuntao with some surprise.
"Okay, then we'll do it your way."
Lin Cun was plowing the land, and Lin Chuntao and the others followed behind. They used hoes to break up the clumps of soil that hadn't yet crumbled. After two rounds, they dug out a shallow furrow. The task of breaking up the soil was handed over to Lin Chunxing, while Lin Chuntao and Sun Shi took the corn seeds and went to plant them.
When the villagers went to the fields, they saw the village head helping to plow the land. They knew that Lin Chuntao and her family were planting corn. But the people plowing the land were standing to the side, and Lin Chuntao and Sun were bent over, not knowing what they were doing. They were all very curious.
"Aunt, what are you and Chun Tao doing?"
Sun replied, "Plant corn seeds."
"Planting corn seeds? Where did you learn this new planting method?"
As they spoke, many people rushed over to watch.
The Lin family members came out late. As soon as they left the village, they saw a crowd gathered around and, thinking something had happened, they also came over.
