Chapter 17 Sickness and Coma Someone is sick, the old...
The habit hadn't been formed yet, but Damian found it strange that he didn't see Enid waving at him in the morning for the first time. Anne was also getting a little impatient beside him, and even the circling ferry bird, Lyra, was constantly calling out.
In the next instant, the little hedgehog vanished in a flash. Damian also retrieved his weapon from pruning the plants and walked faster than usual, bumping right into Stephanie and Alfred.
"Miss Fia doesn't seem like the type of child who would stay in bed too long."
Although Afu's voice remained relaxed as always, it was clear that he was worried. Damian nodded silently. They would exercise together in the morning, although they occupied two different locations. At this moment, Aura also jumped out. Although Wayne Manor was very large, it was still a bit inconvenient for a unicorn to be inside. She looked very anxious - because her tail almost knocked over the vase again.
Stephanie instinctively caught it, met Aura's anxious gaze, nodded, and quickly rushed forward with Damian. The sound of the little hedgehog frantically scratching at the door caused a huge commotion.
"Get out of the way."
The door to Enid's room was slashed open by Damian's knife in the next second. No one complained about his actions. Alfred had already prepared a first-aid kit. Stephanie, as the woman present, was the first to go in without hesitation. A pale green light enveloped Enid tightly, and Naya and Lyra could not get close to her, only able to let out low moans.
Stephanie hurried forward, and Tim, who had followed from the beginning, noticed that Stephanie couldn't get close at all, as could he. So he looked at Damian: "Perhaps we might need blood relatives?"
Damian slightly raised his chin, then quickly walked over. He touched her with ease; her exposed arms were already burning hot, not to mention her forehead. Tim handed the thermometer to Damian, and only after Damian touched it was he allowed to approach her. The thermometer quickly emitted a crisp beep: 39.2°C.
"So it really is a fever?"
"It seems she needs to start her special training sooner rather than later."
While Damian was speaking, he seemed impatient, but he was actually carefully placing something cold on her forehead. Meanwhile, Bruce urgently found Zatana. He had been notified by Alfred from the beginning, and because she was not an ordinary human, he could not guarantee that the medicine for normal humans would work for her. So he did not rush over, but calmly thought of a solution.
Zatana could only stand at a relatively far distance, just like Stephanie. Through magical detection, it seemed that the magical power in her body was in fierce conflict with some power here. Her body was now a battlefield, with the two sides engaged in a fierce struggle. This was not an ordinary fever, but caused by a power conflict. Fortunately, as long as she could get through it, her power would be restored. In a sense, it could be understood that she needed to subdue the other part of the power in her body.
However, the strangest thing is, where does such power come from?
What should we do now?
"Perhaps she needs to stay in the place where she feels most comfortable and at ease, a place that can give her abundant strength."
"A temporary resting place has been prepared in the oak forest. It was prepared by Tim and me. Thank you for taking Miss Fia there, sir."
Alfred always arrived very promptly. In fact, he and Tim had prepared this place while Zatanna was being tested. Bruce nodded to him and Tim, his eyes conveying a sense of urgency, then quickly carried Enid to the place Alfred had prepared. Damian and Stephanie, however, were stopped; clearly, it was almost time for them to go to school.
"You guys go to school first. Afu and I are enough here."
"Don't worry, Miss and Young Master, I will keep you informed about Miss Fia's situation as soon as possible."
Hearing this, Damian and Stephanie prepared to eat and leave. However, unlike Damian's awkward expression, Stephanie directly expressed her concern for Enid. It was just a common illness, but the conflict of powers made them think of more things, such as the Son of the Storm.
As for Tim, well, he had actually already prepared monitoring equipment in the temporary lounge, so he wasn't worried. He could certainly monitor the current situation at any time, and of course, he shared this with the channel without Bruce, and then worked with them to prepare for school.
“I will absolutely help my father train her to be a proper Wayne.”
"Instead of asking that, perhaps we could ask Dick if anything happened to them last night?"
Stephanie thought of Dick, whom she had dated the previous night, but Alfred said that Bruce had already contacted Dick. Meanwhile, Dick, who was at work at the time, received a call and heard that Enid had a fever. His first thought was whether it was because he had taken her on the motorcycle, and he felt a little guilty: "Well, maybe I should have packed an extra layer of clothing last night."
"This isn't your business, Dick. What happened between you two last night?"
“Actually, we just circled around here. Apart from the recording I sent you, well, the rest of the part… wait,” Dick thought of the waves being whipped up by the churning clouds, “it’s the wind. The wind was stronger than usual last night. I remember Fia mentioning that the essence of the Storm Children comes from the power of the wind.”
But neither of them paid attention last night, because the wind was always more noticeable on roads closer to the coast than in more distant areas. It had nothing to do with observation skills; although it was a rare good day, the section they were traveling on yesterday was the border between Broodhaven and Gotham. Broodhaven, well, it's often windy, and the wind is more normal near the sea.
If it weren't for Enid's sudden fainting spell, no one would have guessed that the Son of Storms seemed to be showing signs of awakening at this moment.
"Do I need to come back now? I... I'm worried about her."
"Only blood relatives can approach her now. I'll tell you when she wakes up."
After the call ended, Bruce took a rare moment to look closely at his daughter, especially Enid in her current state. He reached out and gently touched her cheek; it was still hot, but much better than before—a good sign. He withdrew his hand and continued with his business, which included not only the Stormborn but also other matters requiring investigation. Meanwhile, Tim, who had received the message simultaneously, also launched an in-depth investigation.
At this moment, noticing that Enid was neither awake nor aware, Bruce remained silent for a long time, with only faint breathing sounds proving his presence. It wasn't until Tim had bypassed Bruce's investigation and uncovered some minor details that Bruce spoke quietly in a very low voice from the other end of the device.
“Dick is right, of course I love you, not just you, but all my children do.”
A note from the author:
----------------------
Hehe, by the way, I just decided to write about her being sick on a whim, because I also had a slight fever and was sick when I wrote this one. So, based on the principle that if I'm feeling unwell, my sister is feeling unwell too, let's all be sick together. Ugh, but I think I feel even worse QAQ. But thankfully, my symptoms are not too bad.
