Chapter 22: Teleportation Array. This chapter discusses teleportation arrays and magic...
"Quick, quick, everyone come see me! I have an announcement to make—"
Enid gracefully leaped down the stairs and landed on the ground, drawing everyone's attention. Stephanie glanced at Enid and then thought of Dick, who had already gone to work. She turned to Barbara beside her and whispered, "I guess you learned this from Dick?" She deliberately lowered her voice so that everyone except Enid could hear her. Barbara responded with an approving look.
Then, with smiles streaming down their faces, everyone turned to look at Enid. Satisfied at having successfully captured everyone's attention, Enid continued, "I've successfully set up the teleportation array!"
After undergoing multiple safety and stability tests, the teleportation array was officially put into use. Enid bounced around handing out pendants to everyone. The pendant was a pinkish-blue crystal with a small round stone piece engraved with a new sprout pattern attached. It looked somewhat crudely made.
"The method for binding to an individual has been sent to you. Once bound, it can only be used by the person who owns this pendant. It can instantly teleport to the person who owns this pendant and to the final destination! The final destination is located at one end of Wayne Island and is monitored in real time. The starting point is a base under a super tree near the entrance to the Sacred Grove."
This was a test of the teleportation array arranged by the Holy Forest during its reconstruction. Of course, there was an even more convenient way: Enid learned to teleport using the teleportation array herself. However, that was a university course. Although it was taught in high school and she had experimented with it with the help of her teacher, one had to go to university to obtain a teleportation qualification certificate, so she couldn't use it.
"That sounds great."
Now it will be much easier for Cassandra to return from Hong Kong! Cassandra was very happy about this, but Barbara and Tim actually knew about it. Tim was a little confused because he was involved in this matter, so he was a bit surprised that Enid brought it up now.
"But I remember that the approval timeline mentioned in the Bat Cave wasn't now?"
“Yes, but I rushed through all of this yesterday, mainly because…” Enid pursed her lips, looking a little embarrassed, “I told you not to tell my brother, because it’s so tiring for him to come back from Brudhaven, I…”
She felt a pang of heartache, so she wanted to get this sorted out as quickly as possible, hoping it would at least help in some way. Before he left for work, she had already slipped the pendant to Dick. Actually, Barbara had guessed it was because of this, but when she actually heard Enid say it in a shy voice, she couldn't help but laugh.
"Then I guess Dick should be very happy."
"Don't worry, I will definitely not let him know."
Jason immediately began checking if anyone else was online on the communication device and prepared to lock it to prevent Dick from getting too excited. However, he was clearly a step too slow. Dick deliberately let out the sound of himself coming online, with a hint of excitement in his voice.
"I'm sorry, I've already heard it. That's great!"
"Ah...you misheard me. I was worried that if Cassan went back first, it wouldn't be easy to hand her over later!"
Enid was furious, never expecting to be overheard by the person in question. Cassandra, who had been innocently called out, pretended not to be there. Barbara, seeing Enid blushing so much she was about to explode, finally decided to change the subject and let the poor little girl off the hook.
"Great, but what if it gets lost?"
"I referenced some game mechanics, and it can automatically retrieve items!"
"Is it the game you asked me about last time?"
Tim recalled the last time Enid caught him and asked him how to play the game. In the end, the game still didn't go through. In fact, Damian played the game for him. Enid paid the price by calling Damian "brother" because Damian happened to be there.
"That game... it's a very simple game."
Seeing Damian's slightly raised chin, Enid thought of how she had died about 139 times in the game, and then said in a low voice, "So don't learn to run before you learn to walk, or you'll end up like me. High technology is really too difficult, cough cough. Actually, that's how it is. So you can recall someone with just a thought!"
She tried to steer the conversation back on track, but everyone remembered that day when Enid suddenly burst into tears in the game room, then sobbed as she called Barbara, pleading, "Sister, can you please stop me from dying in the game? I've died 139 times already, I don't want to die anymore, sob sob."
This was the first time Barbara had received such a call for help. The game was Wayne Enterprises' latest adventure action game, with beautiful graphics and an interesting storyline. Everyone had played it, and there was also a multiplayer mode. Dick played the multiplayer mode with a few boys, and they died a total of 3 times because of a super hell mode that Tim had specifically created to target them.
She was a little worried that they might have been playing the game without closing it, but when they opened it, they found that Enid had actually turned on the easy mode.
"That sounds so sad. Hmm, maybe I can help you fight? Wait, aren't Tim and Damian here too?"
"Yes...have they played it? I really want to know what the secret is!"
Enid's voice sounded aggrieved and sad, but it was so cute that it was hard not to laugh. Although Damian's laughter was mocking, seeing how anxious Enid was, Barbara gave her a way to find Tim. However, because the easy mode was so easy, Damian said that he could pass the level in less than 30 seconds. So, in order to prove himself, Damian passed the level for someone else.
This scene was eventually witnessed by everyone. Stephanie kindly messaged Enid, suggesting that she could call Enid next time, as she had played these games before and could help her. However, Enid thought she might not want to touch the games again. Of course, it was hard to say whether the others believed her, because they were already betting on when Enid would come crying to them for help playing games for her next time.
Enid was completely unaware of this, and her dark history files gradually filled with a lot of content, just like all her memories after arriving here, like a warm and comfortable cushion filled with cotton.
"Unfortunately, I can only make a few more for now, because my alchemy certificate is still at the beginner level..."
"Can't it be done privately? Is the certificate legally binding?"
Jason asked curiously, but Enid shook her head. "It's not binding. The certificate just verifies that you can pass. Although you can do whatever you want in private, and I can teleport now, the certificate doesn't govern this world. But... well, without the certificate and the teacher's approval, I think it's not allowed to break the rules."
"Okay, sweetie."
Bruce knew this from the beginning; certificates from their world were worthless pieces of paper with no binding force to them. However, Bruce agreed with Enid's strict adherence to the rules, and he also approved of Jason's approach.
"I've heard that behind every rule there's an outrageous incident?"
Stephanie crossed her arms and changed the subject. Well, I'm actually quite curious about this. After all, something must have happened behind the strict rules. Enid raised her hand excitedly.
"That's right, Stephanie! Finally, I can tell stories too! Before, there were no certification requirements; you could just graduate and learn the skills. But then a succubus teleported and discovered her tail had changed and she'd lost a horn. Although she found it later, her tail couldn't be restored. After testing, it was discovered that the power wasn't used in the correct sequence during the teleportation, causing a conflict. So, from then on, everyone had to take a certification exam, and she became the only succubus with only half a tail."
After saying that, Enid took out a textbook, which vividly described the story. There was even a special film to record the event. It was even revised to include the fact that the qualification exam only started after this event. Maybe... everyone except that suicidal succubus was happy, right?
Well, at least everyone's happy right now, even Damian is trying not to laugh.
"So, at least until I get the certification, I absolutely won't dare to use this."
"That would be better, because you're a Wayne, and I won't allow you to embarrass yourself in another world! Besides, you don't have a tail."
Enid met Damian's earnest eyes and nodded with a smile. "Don't worry, I strictly abide by the rules of magic studies. I'll protect myself. Besides, I'll be starting school in a little over two months, and I'm sure I'll become the youngest graduate of the Witch Department!"
—If I can successfully enroll, I will definitely be the youngest graduate and surpass my mother to become someone she is proud of, right?
A note from the author:
----------------------
What kind of game is this... well, you can figure it out however you like! I haven't specified anything! But it's probably an adventure puzzle game, and one that really tests your skills, maybe a bit like Souls, but not a Nintendo-style game.
(Although my sister is bad at the game, she's not so bad that she dies 139 times in a single Nintendo game!!! Hollow Knight is an exception, okay, I haven't played Hollow Knight, but I've beaten Zelda, and although I'm bad at the game too, I didn't die 139 times QAQ) (Well, you can imagine it yourself, just don't imagine it as a game like Honor of Kings. It's a single-player game, but you can also play online with friends, like Gotham Knights)
Mei Bao is a typical example of someone who's bad at the game but loves playing, and is also a bit clumsy (silently).
It's been a long time coming, my little sister has finally learned how to play games! (laughing so hard)
