Chapter 31 Dating Diary ② The Fake Haunted House, the Real...

That's it!

Enid looked up at Dick with an expectant yet pitiful expression—well, that wasn't really the case; it was just how Dick perceived Enid.

“So, let me guess,” Dick pretended to think deeply for a long time, then saw her squinting and pouting, and couldn’t help but laugh. “Of course I agree, and I can help you persuade others too.”

Actually, he was a little curious about the scene; it would be amazing, wouldn't it?

Hearing Dick agree, Enid was overjoyed. She had originally wanted to tiptoe and kiss his cheek, but then she remembered something and decided to take back the idea. Instead, she gave Dick an approving look and said, "Great! I knew you would agree."

Her sweet voice couldn't hide the fact that she seemed to be preparing to do something. Dick's overly sharp mind had completely analyzed her next move. Of course, he understood. After concealing his slight regret, he patted her head without changing his expression.

“I’m glad you approve of me, Fia. So, can we proceed with the next step of the plan, sir?”

"Of course, I allow it."

She deliberately put on a serious face and nodded, imitating the principal's appearance in her mind. Unfortunately, as soon as she finished speaking, Enid couldn't laugh. Just as she finished laughing, she looked up and met the sea's blue eyes, which held a tender and loving gaze.

She was stunned, then pursed her lips and smiled gently.

"Please, my lord."

Dick didn't ignore her gesture, but he didn't say anything. He just bowed slightly and invited her onto his motorcycle. Before the trip, Enid had solemnly stated that she absolutely had to ride a motorcycle, and the two of them had secretly added some extra acceleration and safety features to the motorcycle.

The motorcycle sped through streets unfamiliar to Enid and stopped at a somewhat whimsical doorway. This was Metropolis, not Broodhaven or Gotham. The doorway was decorated with pumpkins and some snarling, self-assured but chubby, round ghosts, shaped like classic white balloons.

"So cute!"

Enid was captivated at first sight: the strangely growing, crooked pumpkin trees, the various chubby and adorable bats, little devils, ghosts, and even other colorful versions of them. They thought they were terrifying and blocked the way, but then scattered the moment they saw them.

I knew you would like it.

“Great! Hmm, maybe we can add some more in the forest?” Enid thought for a moment, then took Dick’s hand. “Come on, let’s go in quickly. Maybe next time you’ll see even more interesting places in the Sacred Forest!”

Unexpectedly, she took the initiative to pull him in. Dick, feeling quite pleased, didn't remind her and instead ran inside with her. Kittens hiding in the shadows poked their heads out, bristling at them and meowing incessantly. Hearing the kittens' meows, Enid laughed so hard she could hardly stand up straight, while the kittens got angry.

"It seems our little deer understood what the kitten blocking the way was saying?"

"Yes, he's threatening us to leave quickly, or he'll eat us!"

Of course, that wasn't the original quote. Enid understood perfectly well, so she deliberately mistranslated some harmless details, but it didn't affect the understanding of the true meaning of the words. Dick nodded solemnly, then shook his head at the kitten, "It really is fierce."

That was a terrible performance!

Enid practically had those words written all over her face. Of course, this doesn't represent Dick's true level of skill; it's just that no acting was needed for this scene.

Realizing what he meant, Enid stuck out her tongue, took back her retort, and then deliberately approached the cat. The angry little guy originally wanted to scare the two-legged creature, but the moment he got close to Enid, well, he couldn't help but rub against her ankle and then ran away.

The employees on the other end of the monitor were startled. Wasn't this senior employee the fiercest one?

At this moment, Dick couldn't help but sigh inwardly. As expected of a druid, even the birds flying overhead were willing to stop and nuzzle Enid, and any kitten would want her to come closer and pet it. So it was no wonder that this little guy who was just fierce had suddenly become so gentle.

Unfortunately, they came to a crossroads. On one side, gloomy clouds obscured the castle, and the sound of lightning could be heard continuously. On the other side, a road blocked by thorns stood, without continuous rain, only a lonely, dilapidated tombstone.

"Is it okay to go there?"

Enid pointed to the tombstone. She thought of the movie "The Bride" that she had watched with everyone at home a couple of days ago. It was a story about a dead bride and a living groom. The weather in the movie was also gloomy, and there was a thorny road with only a lonely tombstone. The difference was that it was the two of them walking in front, instead of the hopeless groom.

Speaking of that movie, she actually watched it at first, then it became a movie she watched with Damian, and finally the whole family watched it together, although the ending was heavily criticized.

"Of course, after all, the officer's words are military orders, aren't they?"

"Pfft, I'm the officer, what are you, my soldier?"

"There might be better options, but being a soldier isn't bad for now, is it?"

She didn't intend to refute what she had said before, but instead nodded, "Then as a reward, perhaps the soldier can tell the officer what wish he wants, and the officer will try his best to fulfill it!" Actually, she couldn't think of anything to give, or rather, anything she could give was too unfamiliar and inappropriate.

"Can that wish be fulfilled later?"

"sure."

Surprisingly, Dick didn't mention any wishes. Actually, it wasn't that Dick had no wishes, but he didn't intend to tell her at this moment. Some wishes weren't for her to fulfill, but rather for him to strive for or otherwise achieve. The materialized pink aura almost burst out of the monitoring equipment, prompting an employee to press the switch.

And then, the next second, the tombstone cracked.

Enid's eyes lit up, and she pulled Dick along as they ran. Dick blocked the thorns, and they crossed the path unharmed, stopping in front of the tombstone that was emitting a sinister laugh. The cracks were getting more and more intense, and the ground was shaking. Dick instinctively put his arm around Enid.

Before she could react, the tombstone cracked open completely, and a blue-skinned woman wearing a tattered and obviously stained bridal gown emerged from it. She deliberately made a frightening struggle, but it didn't scare anyone at all. Instead, it attracted Enid's bright eyes.

"You think we're Ed, right?"

"Ah...how did you know?"

The NPC employee, whose lines had been stolen, paused for a moment, then quickly reacted, putting on a sad and sorrowful expression. "So you were sent by him, right?" came a voice just like Anna's in the movie. Enid smiled brightly and shook her head.

"No! We're just passing through this place looking for treasure! It's a lost blue crystal."

"I know where it is, but I can't just tell you..."

The bride was happily preparing to continue acting according to the script, but the next second her smile vanished. This was a newly rehearsed script! It was the first official performance, and it hadn't gone as planned at all. Fortunately, they had anticipated this possibility, so they continued with their good professionalism.

“I know! I called Ed over to see you!! And then you told me where the crystal was, right!”

"...Yes, that's right."

Having received the bride's reply, Enid happily prepared to give Dick a high five. Seeing her raise her hand, Dick also raised his hand and gave her a high five. "It seems you really liked this movie." Enid nodded. "Yes, I loved it. Actually, Naya loved it too, and Cilan loved it too. Cilan even cried when she saw the ending."

They headed towards the village in the direction shown in the movie. Enid winked, hinting to Dick to go home and tell him about Cilan's little secret. Dick nodded knowingly, because Enid had taken a picture of Cilan crying. It was hard to say whether Tim teaching her to take pictures was a good thing for Cilan and the others.

Because this photo was printed out and displayed at Wayne Manor along with other photos Enid had taken—incidentally, many of them were unflattering pictures of the little ones. When the kids saw the photo, it took Enid a long time to calm them down.

Naya, hiding in the shadows, also remembered this incident and secretly mocked Ciel, causing Enid's shadow to suddenly sway. This startled the NPC who was supposed to be there. When he rubbed his eyes and realized he had misread it, he had already missed his chance to appear.

So Enid and Dick happily missed the first clue, but luckily they watched the movie. When Enid was almost at the village, they looked at each other, nodded, and turned back, only to find themselves staring at the NPC who was pretending to be a mushroom in the middle of the road.

"Okay, hurry up and tell me!"

"Ah...oh! Strangers!! Get out of here! I won't allow you to come here! Go away!!!"

The NPC, filled with suspicion, tried his best to deliver his lines. He began to worry that the boss's script had been leaked. In fact, it wasn't a script leak; rather, they had signed an agreement for an IP movie licensed by Wayne Enterprises, so the two of them had seen it in advance.

After seeing the two people leave with the clues, the NPC, having ended this part of the story, once again squatted in the corner pretending to be a mushroom, while only the employee, questioning his life, silently watched from behind the surveillance camera.

However, Dick didn't expect Enid to play script games in this way, but isn't it cute?

-----------------------

Author's note: Actually, it's not a murder mystery game; it's just a random idea I came up with. The movie is indeed a heavily modified version of "Corpse Bride," but it doesn't really have anything to do with the movie. However, it is adapted from the movie's plot. The movie hasn't been released yet, but I think it's easy to see it in advance if you really want to.
