Chapter 50 The Eve of the Exam: Entrance Exam Part 1, Preparation...
"Thank you for your help, Professor Mora."
After ending her call with the teaching assistant with a smile, Enid slumped onto the sofa looking dejected. Damian happened to pass by and saw her. He looked her up and down and slowly asked, "How long?" He knew at a glance what was bothering Enid; she was clearly putting on a show for him.
"Very good," Damian caught the clue Enid had thrown out, and she immediately perked up, sitting up with her eyes shining brightly as she stared at Damian. "Judging by the flow of time, it should be tonight. I didn't expect it to be so soon, but I trust Damian will definitely be fine!"
"Of course."
Damian was very confident in himself and casually tossed the miniature camera they had prepared to Enid. This was a modified version that had been combined with Enid's alchemy. It could absorb trace amounts of magic power for conversion and was mainly used to record magical circuits. It could no longer be considered a purely technological product.
"Thank you for your trouble!" Enid readily expressed her sincere gratitude. "As a reward, I prepared this for you. It's based on a game, a bouncing dart that can travel around! Well, it seems a bit useless..."
Enid had prepared it beforehand, but after finishing it, she realized that it seemed to have little meaning for the Bat Family, since weapons didn't seem to be lacking in the family. Moreover, she seemed to have so many batarangs that they could almost overwhelm her. She was a little worried when she sent it out.
"Hmph, it's barely acceptable."
He glanced at the weapon; it wasn't sharpened, but it was sharp enough. He took it and gently weighed it in his hand; the weight was just right. He understood how to use it as soon as he held it. Damian quickly tried it out, and the dart flew obediently into his hand after circling the vase. It was rather cute.
“I’m happy that the young master and young lady get along so well, but perhaps we could leave the vase alone for a while?” As soon as Afu came out, he saw the teetering vase, but thankfully it was still alive and unharmed. Damian paused for two seconds, having actually forgotten to pick up a target at random. “Maybe next time I can see Young Master Damian’s perfect darts in the training room, right?”
"Yes."
"Ah Fu! Amazing, right? I did it! No matter how far away I am, I always come back to my master's side, just like we always come home no matter how far we go."
Enid's confident words reached everyone's ears. Damian glanced at her and then silently put the dart inside his pocket.
"Yes, Miss Fia, you are right."
"It's not bad, it's a good match."
I already know for sure. Whether the dart is useful or not doesn't matter. It's a gift that carries the weight of the sentiment rather than the price in the store. So it doesn't matter if it's useless. Its sentiment is precious enough. Damian has never disliked the dart. In fact, although it may seem that it is not used much in daily life, it will be hung in his weapons, won't it?
"Miss Fia, where is the exam taking place? Perhaps I should prepare in advance."
"Yes, the place Tim and I went to before is where the exam will be held. We'll probably be there for about three days. The exam requires you to defeat as many creatures as possible in the exam room, but you are prohibited from using magic throughout the exam. Teammates can attack you, but you must be blind and cannot use any magic items except for healing ones."
Enid wrinkled her nose, somewhat puzzled. She was the examinee, and her teammates were the assistants. So it was obvious that Damian could attack her, but she couldn't attack Damian. Most importantly, she was blind.
"Miss Fia, are all the teammates selected by the players themselves?"
"Well... teammates for the entrance exam are self-selected, but once selected, they cannot be changed. New teammates can be added, unless a teammate dies."
After hearing Enid's additional rules, they seemed to understand why. It seemed to be a basic test of trust. If a teammate could attack you while you were blind and you couldn't use magic, could you really entrust your life to them completely?
This is a very difficult thing; trust is cracked from such tiny gaps.
After Afu explained the situation gently with a slight smile, Enid was dumbfounded. She seemed completely unprepared for this situation, and she pursed her lips, still not quite understanding.
“I understand the meaning of the rules, but why are they set up this way? Professor Mora didn’t say anything. Is it because teammates can’t be changed? So everyone is cautious at the beginning because every choice you make will determine whether your future is secure?”
Seeing that Enid had grasped something, Damian nodded slightly. "You're not completely stupid. Doesn't your school forbid switching students? If that's the case, then you should choose carefully from the start. Alright, I'll protect you." Damian actually felt that this rule was meaningless, at least to him.
It's quite simple. Damian doesn't think he would hurt Enid, so Enid just needs to provide logistical support from behind the scenes. Her healing abilities are, well, not bad.
"I see! But it doesn't really matter. I never thought about changing teammates or other teammates. I will always believe in you guys. I'm not going to stay in that world anyway. But maybe we can go there occasionally, because there are a lot of secret realms! We can go into the secret realms and catch some things. Don't worry about bringing back the wrong things, I'll take good care of them!"
He didn't react to Enid's words, because that's how it should be. However, he became slightly interested in the mention of the secret realms. He was curious about what was inside. Enid enthusiastically used magic to project a map showing the distribution of all the secret realms in that area.
"The place we went to this time was inside this secret realm. Although it's called a secret realm, most of it is actually a pseudo-secret realm created by the school. However, there are many flowers and plants that we can bring back, but considering the situation, we can only bring some back to the Sacred Forest. But next time, Damian, you can come to the Sacred Forest with me. Oh, and Kyle misses you too."
“TT, I thought you’d forgotten about Kyle.” Damian was extremely unhappy about this, since Kyle wasn’t coming here. Enid stuck out her tongue sheepishly, “I haven’t forgotten. It’s just that Kyle hasn’t completed his birth training yet, so you can’t see him. But it’ll be fine tomorrow.”
Afu watched as Enid released the detailed information about the secret realm, gave a brief analysis of the situation, and then, seeing that the two children had gone off-topic, said with some helplessness, "I'm very happy to see Mr. Kyle, but right now the most important thing should be the exam, right, Miss Fia?"
After saying that, Afu sent a portion of the information he had analyzed to the two children. “Miss Fia, the information you provided is very important. The most important thing right now is to follow this path and get the best grades possible. That way, you might be able to graduate faster, right?”
A detailed route map has been drawn up. Afu's route map is very detailed. Actually, it is not a very difficult task. Just calculate the "question" scores of each area and then combine them. Then choose the best route based on the strength of Enid and Damian.
"Great! Thanks for your hard work, Afu!" Enid said excitedly after receiving the message. "Damian, maybe we can get first place, right?"
"Of course we're number one!"
Damian absolutely did not believe he would lose to anyone else, let alone a group of mages without magic. Of course, he wouldn't underestimate his enemies either; he simply had absolute confidence in himself, and perhaps even some confidence in Enid. Damian clicked on the weakness information of each "question" on the route map, then looked at Enid.
"Are your other abilities usable? Any support-type abilities?"
"Yes, that's fine. Anything that's neither offensive nor buffing will do. I can provide you with healing and debuff removal items; I'm very good at that."
Enid also read the information above. The enemies on this road were not scary, but since it was a test, there would always be some tricky methods. The magic of the Witch Department cannot only be used for attack. That is not a qualified witch, because witches are usually more often alone, so they need to study more.
However, Enid disagrees with this, but she will learn more.
Afu watched with satisfaction as the two began to seriously discuss the detailed plan of the operation. So he simply brought them their favorite drinks and quietly left. When it was almost time, he knocked lightly on the door to remind the two "tactical masters" inside.
"The exam is approaching and it's time to prepare to go. The helicopter, luggage, and food are all ready. Considering this trip, we've prepared some convenient food."
The carefully packed tactical backpacks were already on the helicopter. As they prepared to go, the rest of the family members arrived at the scene. This was their first entrance exam. Bruce stepped forward and gave Enid and Damian a hug. "Don't worry, you can do it. I believe in you."
“Of course, I’ll help Enid get first place.” Damian actually wanted to call her Grady or something else, but realized it didn’t suit her at all, so he decided to just call her by her name. Enid smiled and nodded, showing a confident expression to the others.
"With Damian around, there won't be any problems!"
Barbara Stephanie and Cassandra also encouraged them. Although it seemed like the exam was actually Enid's, it had now turned into an exam for both Enid and Damian. Was this what it meant to start taking college entrance exams before even starting high school?
Although Damian stated that he was already a doctor, he didn't actually have any objections. As he was about to go up, Damian glanced at Enid and saw that she had the miniature camera properly concealed, so he didn't say anything and went up directly.
At that moment, Enid rushed over and hugged Dick without hesitation. Amid the teasing and mocking gazes of the others, Dick gently kissed Enid's cheek. She quietly turned her head and kissed her lips. Enid smiled triumphantly, boarded the plane, and waved to Dick before the door closed.
I received your encouragement!
"It looks like they'll do well on the test."
Dick certainly didn't miss her adorable mischief. The warm touch still seemed to linger on his lips. He met her bright green eyes, which were even more dazzling than the sunlight, and smiled gently. Jason was still loudly mocking him for smiling so strangely. Perhaps it wasn't strange, but because, who could resist her adorable mischief?
