Chapter 53 Entrance Examination ① Entrance Examination One, ...
Enid pierced the stone with her blade for the first time. The resistance and the sound of breaking made her a little flustered, but she had indeed killed a Bone Demon. The simulation was so realistic that she could still smell the bloody scent of the Bone Demon on the tip of her nose. After a while, the corpse disappeared, and only the smell of natural plants and soil remained around her.
"The movement was too slow."
Damian's voice rang out again, waking Enid from her reverie. She suddenly breathed a sigh of relief, her expression relaxed considerably, and her tone became more cheerful and upbeat.
"There's nothing I can do. After all, you're a teacher, and students can't compare to teachers."
He didn't speak; his magical senses couldn't detect Damian's slightly embarrassed expression, but Enid probably guessed, hence her overly beautiful smile. Damian pretended not to see it and continued to compare the route map provided by Afu with their current location to the next path.
Besides the first place winner, they also had another goal: to bring back something. There was one thing they could bring back from this pseudo-secret realm: a withered blue Fiona flower. In Celtic, Fiona means white, so to explain further, it means a blue-white flower.
Where are the flowers blooming?
"Hmm, it should be around here."
Enid sensed it closely. The light spot of the Fiona Flower was special. There were actually many floating light spots nearby, but none of them were it. She shook her head. "The map might not be accurate. It must have run away. We can walk around some more. The Fiona Flower prefers damp places. There's a Moon Lake ahead. We can go and take a look."
The map didn't mark the location of the lake, but Enid sensed it and led the way without hesitation. She was becoming more and more proficient in using this magic and found the lake without any trouble. Sure enough, at the edge of the translucent blue lake, a bunch of Fiona flowers huddled together seemed to be whispering something to each other.
What are they saying?
Damian frowned, noticing the flowers seemed to be staring at them intently. He asked, "What's wrong?" Enid felt a little embarrassed. It wasn't that she didn't understand, but rather that she felt awkward if she did. So she cleared her throat slightly and said, "They're saying you're so handsome, especially cool when you fight. But you're a human cub, otherwise they could form a contract with you. The contract of the Fiona Flower is a marriage contract."
Enid could already guess Damian's expression at that moment, and she couldn't help but laugh out loud. Damian was annoyed; being proposed to with flowers was a first for him. After a moment of silence, he said, "Give me the camera." He intended to delete this part, and Enid instinctively protected the camera.
"No, this is a very important clue, isn't it? Okay, I know, but they didn't mean any harm. They just apologized to you, saying they didn't mean to say that. Hmm, hey, the blue Fiona flower is willing to come with us!"
The Fiona Flower is a treasure of wisdom. Their life is only a short one day. Only those that survive for more than two days will become blue Fiona Flowers, but even then, it is only for two days. However, they can see everything in the world. Their flower bodies after death will only remain if they choose to. Their bodies can be planted in the soil and are a natural treasure that soothes the mind and gathers spirits.
“I’m not angry.” Damian wasn’t going to be angry at a flower, so he saw a blue flower awkwardly jump into his palm, making a heart shape with its hands towards him and Enid. “This thing can only live for two days?”
“Yes, that’s an unchangeable fact, but she doesn’t regret it and thanks you.” Enid reached out and gently touched the flower’s tender petals and vines, then took the flower into her own space. “Let’s go. The Concealment spell can only be used for a short time.”
He nodded, pretended to squat down to get the water, silently bid farewell to the Fiona flowers, and returned to the right path with Enid.
"Those flowers?"
“They are the Fiona flowers…” She understood Damian’s meaning, so she pretended to be introducing the Fiona flowers for the first time, and also mentioned that the things that everyone knew about them were also things that Damian was curious about. “Actually, they also have marriage contracts. It’s not really a marriage contract, but humans like to call it that. Essentially, it’s because the flowers love and cherish you that they will give you their souls. So the person who makes a contract with the flower will possess their wisdom.”
"Only the weak need others to bestow wisdom upon them."
Damian clearly did not agree with this behavior, and neither did Enid. She smiled and said, "Yes, wisdom should be one's own, not something to be plundered or given by others." Moreover, it was a gift with a price. It was written in that book that wisdom bestowed by the Flower of Fiona was not a good thing; those who were too wise would go mad.
Damian understood the unspoken meaning in her words. He knew that the bard's book contained a lot of information, and he suddenly became curious about its contents. However, Enid said she would show it to him when she got home because the book had been destroyed but was stored in her mind. She needed to rewrite it when she got back, and it wasn't finished yet.
"Half an hour left."
"Yes, let's go home soon!"
The journey wasn't very long; they still had about half an hour to go. However, Damian became even more vigilant at this point. There weren't many dangers or other people on the road, so this final stretch was even more crucial. Noticing Damian's tension, Enid didn't relax either and tensed up as well.
Enid knew that Damian was not one to speak without reason, so there must be something she hadn't noticed. She knew herself well, and those secrets hidden in the details were beyond her perception. She could only know other people's feelings of good or evil towards her. But one thing she was very clear about now was that Damian would not hurt her.
“1.” Damian uttered a single word, and Enid immediately prepared. Her magic was ready to begin, and a large number of green light spots enveloped Damian and her. Any other colored halos that came randomly were dissolved under the impact of these green lights, leaving only Enid and Damian back to back.
The sound of applause rang out, and the prince who had been at the beginning appeared. He was completely different from the one at the beginning, and instead had a gloomy feeling. "As expected of the child of the Moon Witch, but it's a pity that you won't get first place."
A sense of "I knew it" arose within him. Damian had anticipated this long ago. It was obvious that he had come to lull them into a false sense of security from the start. He was certain that no matter what they did, Enid would not harm them, which was why he dared to be so open and aboveboard. After all, the exam had just begun and Enid would not kill anyone.
"Not necessarily."
Enid closed her eyes slightly, her tone filled with determination. A green ball of light formed the shape of a flame in her palm, which then burst into flames, engulfing everything at an unstoppable speed. "Although I cannot use magic, I can prevent all of you from using magic, because you are not our test."
This is a move that injures the enemy a thousand while also injuring yourself eight hundred, temporarily imprisoning all magic around you except for yourself. But coincidentally, Damian doesn't know magic.
So in the next moment, they all fainted on the spot, except for the prince. But then, the teacher appeared and arrested the prince and all the others. The woman in the light green court dress bowed slightly to Enid.
The exam ended without incident. As Damian left the exam hall and returned to that mysterious space, he spoke up: "She's a princess? The one you blessed? She's using you, isn't she?"
“Yes, she almost died at the hands of His Highness, but fortunately I have healing magic, so I saved her. But…” Enid was a little sad, “I didn’t expect it either, I thought…”
The prince's actions were her provocation; from now on, the prince is out of the game. It was all the princess's scheme. At first, Enid thought she might actually make friends, but it seems, well, Enid feels like she's been tricked again.
"Next time you want to learn how to make friends, you can learn from them, but I suggest you do it near Gotham, or Metropolis is fine too."
Damian noticed that his voice wasn't sharp; instead, it was quite calm. After all, within Gotham's sphere of influence, no one had escaped Batman's detection, and he had acquaintances in Metropolis, didn't he?
Betrayal and deception are common in the adult world, but Enid is not alone here.
"Yeah, I know. I was just a tiny little bit sad, but I'm not sad anymore. After all, I have family, best friends, and my best brother!"
After Damian removed the blindfold himself, the useless blindfold was put away, and Enid's bright green eyes shone with a dazzling light, as radiant as her smile at that moment.
