Chapter 55 Moonlight over Buhang, the moon over Buhang, gives birth to...
"That's great, it seems they love him!"
The elderly couple left a gentle kiss on the sleeping child's forehead. The tangible, perceptible love was in that kiss, which Enid could see clearly. Undeniably, Enid's tone carried an excessive joy and a blessing for the child. With Dick's encouraging gaze, she placed the candy on the child's bedside table after the elderly couple left.
But it wasn't just candy; a small Nightwing icon was also included.
"You had already investigated when the child was found, didn't you, Mr. Nightwing?"
"Alright, you found out. Are you satisfied now? The moon in Brudhaven is beautiful too, isn't it?"
Enid paused for a moment, then noticed that what shone as brightly as the moon was his amber gaze. Though hidden beneath his eyepatch, she could sense the pure moonlight flowing like a warm pulse through her heart. She nodded and placed the candy in front of Dick.
"With Nightwing around, the moon in Brodhaven is even more beautiful. This is a reward for you, Mr. Nightwing. Please forgive my presumption."
No, I like it very much.
These were the candies Afu had given them earlier. Now, the candies melted between their lips and teeth, creating a sweet aroma—a rich and lovely fruity flavor. They seemed to be eagerly exchanging a candy-flavored kiss, under the excessively bright moon in Brudhaven.
“Speaking of which, isn’t it almost my birthday…?” Enid paused, “right? Maybe you could help me think of some gifts and surprises?”
Enid lowered her voice and turned off any devices that might be overheard. Dick cooperated and turned them off for her, then realized what she really meant. Wasn't this a fun surprise? "Of course, I'd be happy to cooperate. What do you need me to do?"
She was a little discouraged when she talked about this, because there was no better arrangement. She sighed and took out the bracelet she had prepared.
“It’s a gift I prepared. It’s a space inside that can hold a lot of things. I’m a little worried that this gift might be a bit…” She wasn’t sure if the gift was suitable, but Dick praised it, and she could even see the smile on his face. “This is a really wonderful gift. I’m even a little jealous. After all, the Oracle has praised your gifts many times.”
Yes, that's a wonderful gift, Dick thought. Aside from its practicality, it's actually the least noteworthy thing; after all, the most important thing is the sentiment, isn't it? The genuine feeling behind preparing the gift is what truly brings joy.
Therefore, Dick thought Tim would definitely like the gift. By the way, he was genuinely jealous because there weren't enough raw materials, so initially only three girls received it, and as her boyfriend, he didn't have any special privileges.
"Let me guess, have you already gotten B?"
"Huh?!" Enid paused. "I don't know, because I don't know if Father got it after hiding it."
Before today, Enid had secretly told Alfred about this, and with Alfred's help, Enid secretly hid the gift in Bruce's room. She strictly instructed Alfred to keep it a secret, but obviously, Alfred didn't tell him directly, since he had told Bruce what he had said.
"Sir, I bet you'd be very interested in children's hide-and-seek games, wouldn't you?"
The next second, Bruce returned to his room and found the little gift Enid had given him. Although he had helped test its functions, he still silently marked the spatial device, which resembled a batarang, and then put it away according to the method Enid had left behind, as if it were his own.
Upon hearing about Enid and Alfred's agreement, Dick couldn't help but laugh.
"That b must have received it."
"That's true, after all, he's my father."
They both spoke similar words without prior arrangement, and after a moment, they couldn't help but laugh. Dick gently supported Enid, pretending to be a little jealous.
"So obviously only I was left, no, the four of us were left behind."
"Uh... I already said it's a surprise, so I definitely can't tell you. But because the materials grow very slowly, I'm sorry, I actually wanted to send them all, but I don't have enough materials, so I can only..."
Of course she wouldn't forget the others, but there weren't many raw materials available, and because of her during that time, many had stopped growing. Only now is the ecosystem slowly returning to normal. Enid's tone carried a hint of guilt as she spoke.
Dick's hand touched her head in an instant, his tone became much gentler, and there was a lot of helpless laughter in his voice.
"You know that's not what I meant. We won't be angry whether you deliver it or not. Maybe you can understand what I meant earlier..."
"I know you're jealous, aren't you, my Mr. Nightwing?"
Her eyes weren't hidden by the mask, so Dick could easily catch a glimpse of her emerald eyes, which, together with her flowing white hair, created an excessively harmonious scene, as if moonlight were hidden in her eyes. He couldn't help but nod, and then kissed her eyelids.
"Yes, I am jealous, my dear Druid."
"Then I grant you the right to kiss me. After all, you already have all my love. You can't be greedy anymore, Mr. Nightwing, my dear brother."
Enid wrapped her arms around Dick's neck and kissed his lips again. After the moonlight flickered and the starlight obscured all traces of the clouds, they returned to Wayne Manor and landed on the balcony. Enid released Dick and jumped off the balcony without a word to the other side, which happened to be her room.
Noticing Dick and Enid returning home, Alfred couldn't help but shake his head: "It seems installing doors at Wayne Manor was a mistake."
Enid, who had returned through the window once again, covered her burning cheeks. She hadn't expected to be so bold and was no longer paying attention to Dick's reaction. Meanwhile, Dick, left behind at the window, couldn't help but chuckle.
The next morning, Enid woke up with the scene from the previous night still replaying in her mind. Suppressing her overwhelming shyness, she washed up and confidently walked out of the room. Tim was still at the dining table, but he was about to leave. Enid remembered her plan and wanted to call Tim back, but hesitated.
She sent her plans to others last night, but wasn't sure. Fortunately, Tim seemed to have figured something out: "Actually, someone already asked me. I'll be back at 1 p.m.."
“That’s great, um, I mean, what a coincidence.”
Hopefully, Tim didn't find out. As for Tim, well, he certainly guessed what it was, but he suppressed his curiosity and investigative instincts, pretending not to know anything. After all, the most interesting thing is to reveal the surprise when the time comes, isn't it?
After the meal, the vine that had been given to Afu obediently took away the plates from the table and washed them. While washing the dishes, it also mopped the floor and dusted the dishes. It then carried the washed fruit to the table and showed it off to Afu, just like a little dog. Afu gently patted the vine's branches and then looked at Enid with a smile.
“Actually, if Miss Fia had been a little calmer, I guess Master Tim wouldn’t have noticed anything. But it’s fine now, Miss Barbara has already told me that the materials are all ready.”
The vines beside her also raised their branches high, looking quite pleased with themselves, probably indicating that they would try their best to help. Enid stuck out her tongue, looking completely innocent.
"Can I make a cake?"
"Of course, I'll go order a new oven now."
Hearing Afu agree while taking out his phone as if to make a call, Enid immediately raised her hand to stop him, puffing out her cheeks in a super dissatisfied look: "Wait! Afu! I won't blow up the oven again!!"
“That’s wonderful, Miss Fia.”
"Perhaps I can help?"
Officer Grayson, who was finally on vacation, spoke up. Alfred, who had finally compromised, hadn't even had a chance to relent when all the birds came running. Damian mingled among them, and although he didn't get anything, he didn't argue either. Barbara and the others were also quite excited.
"Let's join too."
"Okay, luckily I just happened to want a new kitchen."
Afu compromised and gave up the kitchen, but put the vines inside. These were a gift Enid had given Afu before. The magical vines were self-aware. Afu also taught him how to cook. Although he wasn't very good at it, he knew the recipes well and was good at chopping vegetables, so he could help everyone a little.
After seizing absolute control of the kitchen from Afu, everyone gathered together, their eyes filled with seriousness.
"First step, decide what kind of cake to make?" Barbara showed all the pictures of the cakes, and a noisy discussion began. There was no fight, but the atmosphere was getting more and more heated. They argued back and forth like they were bickering, and everyone had their own reasons for their choices.
How about this one?
However, after a long silence, Enid spotted the orange pattern. When enlarged, it showed a base of lime mousse and butter biscuit peanut brittle, topped with oranges and other fruits, but the most striking element was the orange grove. She thought of the time they picked oranges together.
"The oranges are ripe again! They're from the Sacred Grove, the same flavor as last time, and you can stuff them with other fruits too! But I don't know if he'll like them..." Enid was a little troubled, but oranges, well, actually they don't dislike oranges, the point is that afternoon in the orange grove, isn't it?
“I think it’s a good idea.” Barbara voted in favor, and then the others voted in favor as well. Stephanie’s cheerful voice set the stage. Well, maybe it was a disaster day for the kitchen, but actually it wasn’t. After all, apart from Enid, well, everything was fine, right?
"Let's begin the birthday cake plan!"

Author's note: It's almost 7.19 power, of course, within the storyline, I just calculated it to be about right.
So the next chapter will probably be about a birthday.
