Chapter 61, Chapter 61: Sister's Exchange with Barbara...

Want to guess when my school starts?

Enid slumped dejectedly onto the table. Barbara, who was busy, couldn't help but smile slightly upon hearing Enid's words, and reached out to stroke her soft, long hair. "Was it after Jason's birthday?"

After all, if there wasn't enough time, Enid probably wouldn't have brought it up, which is a reasonable assumption. Of course, Barbara was absolutely right. Enid rubbed her palm against Barbara's, then sat up and hugged her affectionately, burying herself in her arms.

"Yes, I'll be going to school after Jay's birthday, and the formal entrance exams will start in about a few days."

Soft as a little marshmallow, Barbara watched Enid act coquettishly towards her with amusement, gently pinching her cheek. She figured Enid wouldn't have any problems with the exam; her magic was always excellent. "I know you'll be fine, right?"

“Yes!” Enid sat up abruptly, her eyes brightening considerably. “It’s just an exam. The exam content is called Fairy Tale Mystery Town. Solving the mystery seems a bit troublesome.”

Enid wasn't stupid, but she didn't think she was particularly good at puzzles. She was just exceptionally talented in magic. Otherwise, she wasn't as good as anyone else in her family, but that wasn't shameful, and she wasn't sad about it. Their excellence was so natural and admirable, the result of their hard work and effort, and shouldn't be buried by the word "talent."

"About how long? I'll make time. As for Tim, do you need me to talk to him for you?"

"With the two of you by my side on August 20th, I feel much more confident now. I've already told Tim, and we just happened to run into each other on the way here."

After finishing her work, Barbara nodded. "Of course, I'll arrange it. But I guess you came to see me not because of this, right?" Of course, she didn't mean to criticize Enid for not coming unless there was a reason. Rather, if it was just about this, Enid could have easily messaged her, and she certainly wouldn't have refused.

"I'd like to go shopping with you, will you be able to manage?"

"Obviously I'm free. Where would you like to go?"

Barbara had just finished most of her business and had a little free time to spend with her younger sister. She could roughly guess that Dick was probably working overtime like a workaholic, and Bruce was always busy, not to mention the others. Well, it seemed like little Fia was just bored.

“Great! I brought back some ‘Apple Milk Tea’ a few days ago. Weren’t you interested? I was thinking of asking Mother Goddess and Dick, so I thought I could show it to you.”

Enid was actually a little worried because after bringing back the gift, no one really minded or asked about it "collecting dust." Now she could see the milk bottle with the "OO" drawn on it next to Barbara's computer desk, with the flowers Enid had given her in it, and they were still blooming beautifully.

In her and Dick's description, it was a magical candy house. She sensed Barbara's curiosity and was somewhat inclined to take them there, but she was also afraid Dick would disagree, since it seemed to be their date spot. However, in reality, she was overthinking it.

“Isn’t that great? I bet Little Ba will love it there, and maybe we can go see some other places too. I remember there was a rainbow cloud there, right?” Dick’s tone was relaxed, and he even remembered the other little places they had visited, which immediately put Enid at ease. “Where it is is yours, and who you take there doesn’t need my approval, Fia. I’m happy that we can go on dates there, but that doesn’t mean you can only go on dates with me there. As long as it’s permitted, it’s your right to take whoever you want to go for a look.”

His words carried an overwhelming sense of reassurance, which Enid was well aware of. Initially, she didn't mind if he wanted a secret that belonged solely to them, but Dick, perhaps, actually preferred the cabin to the lake.

"That's great, I'm really looking forward to it."

Barbara smiled. She was indeed very curious about what it looked like. Enid's Sacred Grove was entirely modeled after the fairy forests in fairy tales. Even in adulthood, fairy tales are not entirely isolated. Just as Barbara finished speaking, Enid's gaze fell upon the pumpkin emitting a faint glow in the corner.

She noticed Enid's gaze, so she went over and picked up the pumpkin. The pumpkin, still fast asleep, opened its mouth slightly before continuing to sleep. This was the pumpkin Enid had given her from the Sacred Forest last time, and it was still full of energy and vitality.

"Sister Barbara, you really didn't eat them! Hmm, I knew it~"

"After all, I don't have the habit of eating talking creatures."

The next second, the little pumpkin opened its eyes, revealing the dazzling lights inside. It seemed that the little pumpkin was a little happy because it saw Enid. She also reached out and gently tapped the pumpkin, then looked at Barbara curiously.

"Won't it be a bit noisy?"

“No,” Barbara put the pumpkin back on its original cushion. “It’s actually quite fun, better than raising fish.”

Little Pumpkin is a rather interesting little pet. Don't worry about it starving; its only food is water. Except for the two weeks Enid spent in Saint Forest, when it was a bit listless, it was fine most of the time.

"Very good!"

"The two little ones that Cassan and Stacy have are both in good spirits."

Enid gave each person one, saying it was for them to eat, but it seems no one has eaten the little pumpkin. The Sacred Grove doesn't produce creatures out of thin air; the little pumpkin is recorded in the Sacred Grove's scriptures as a creature from another place. They are actually quite easy to eat. Enid never ate them because they were all children.

Enid had always known they were like this, she knew it when she let them leave, but hearing Barbara's words, she still couldn't help but smile, her eyes crinkling.

"No wonder the Paniz like you so much. Ah, in the scriptures they are called Paniz, a very special kind of creature. They lure people to eat them. Those who eat them can gain more life, while those who don't eat them, of course, have to wait at least several months to find out if they can receive God's blessing. Well... well, I'm sorry, God can't bless you."

Barbara knew these little guys had some stories to tell, but she hadn't expected them to be in a style reminiscent of fairy tale picture books. In fact, it did fit the style of the Sacred Forest more closely. But she roughly understood why the Sacred Forest existed. It was a place that sheltered all abandoned or nearly destroyed creatures.

The price of coming here is becoming what Enid would rather be.

She wasn't going to explain it clearly, because Barbara knew that Enid already understood, so she just smiled.

“I already have the blessing of the Archdruid, don’t I? That’s perfect. Now I can take on ten clowns.” After saying that, Barbara paused slightly, having almost finished packing. “Aren’t you going to leave, Your Highness the Druid?”

Enid blushed slightly. Dick liked to use that nickname, so people would sometimes tease her like that, not about their relationship, but because she would blush easily whenever people said it to her.

"Understood, Your Excellency."

A small counterattack, but it was weak and didn't hurt Barbara at all, because it missed; after all, it wasn't much of an attack.

"So we're going to use a teleportation array? When is the exam for your teleportation magic coming up? I remember you've always wanted to take it."

"I'm sorry, I'll have to wait until school starts, but I'll be the first to pass!"

She spoke with great confidence, and Barbara affirmed her abilities without the slightest hesitation, "Of course, you're the best." She had great faith in Enid's magical abilities, not because Enid was Bruce's daughter or family, but because she had personally witnessed Enid enduring countless nights in books and magic.

So when she felt the magic circle that didn't make her dizzy at all, even in the blink of an eye, she wasn't surprised. Instead, she spoke in a gentle tone: "Congratulations on your success."

"Sister, when did you find out?"

She thought she had kept it a secret, but it turned out Barbara already knew. After all, she hadn't told anyone about improving the magic circle. The core of the magic teleportation was the key, so she only needed to improve that, and didn't need to worry about the other auxiliary parts. But that was a bit more troublesome.

"Because I am an oracle, aren't I?"

"No, because you are Barbara!"

As soon as she finished speaking, a soft, cloud-like, seven-colored mass emerged from beneath Barbara's feet, rubbing against her one by one, even lifting her up and placing her on their bodies, somewhat like a sofa but softer. Barbara simply stopped struggling and sat on them.

"They really like you, so they decided to temporarily be your mount!"

"Looks like Dick didn't enjoy it last time he came?"

Enid's smile was a bit like Naya's. She reached out and patted the little cloud-like creature sitting down, smiling adorably. "That's right! You're the first one besides me. Next time you can bring Cassandra and Stacy along!"

Hearing Enid's words, Barbara roughly understood why Dick hadn't been invited. "These little guys probably have the same rumors as the unicorns, right?"

For a moment, Enid and the little dumpling they were sitting on froze. The little dumpling kept chirping as if it was struggling with something, and Enid held back her laughter for a long time.

"Huh... how did you know! But I'd better not tell you in order to protect their fragile reputation."

"So, where are we going next?"
