Chapter 70 The Villain's Curtain Falls: The villainous magician, the most...
The abundant clouds in the night sky made the stars scarce, but the clouds were clear, the grayness cleared away, merely feigning danger. It should have been a clear, overcast day, hidden beneath the tall, bright church, all... unseen dark clouds.
"All surveillance equipment has been mobilized, and the location is under close monitoring. This is the magician's last hiding place."
Tim's voice was steady and confident; he was absolutely certain of his answer, and he was right. It wasn't a raven or a hawk, but a tiny hummingbird that perched obediently to one side, taking in the evil. Enid, on the other hand, used magic to project all the information.
"How clever Tim is! He really didn't suspect him!"
It wasn't the most common crows, but a much smaller hummingbird. Tim had once asked Enid about the species of bird, and based on the Stormborn's past identity, he gave this bird as an option, since it was a bird that appeared in the Sacred Grove after Enid.
"Hmm, how's the situation?"
"Coordinates have been marked! Do not take any action."
Although he didn't respond to Enid's praise, Tim smiled slightly, looking quite pleased. Enid didn't notice, but her little ones had already noticed the traces—traces belonging to a magician, but not him.
"Not him?"
“This…is, a human, a puppet.”
She spoke slowly and deliberately, her gaze slightly unfocused.
Enid's eyesight was quite sharp. Although it looked almost like a real person, it was not actually human, but a doll created using alchemy. It was a body completely handed over to its creator for use, and it could not even be considered a robot. Or rather, it was more appropriate to call it a mecha from novels and literature.
But Tim noticed that Enid's expression was noticeably off when she said those words, and his keen observation told him that this was neither a doll nor a human.
So Tim silently opened the missing persons comparison. His device was connected to the Batcave's computer, which contained all the information about missing persons in Gotham, some registered with the police and some not, some found and some dead. The search was proceeding slowly, and soon, the search was successful.
In the missing persons file on the Bat computer, another report has been marked as deceased.
But perhaps there won't be only one like this.
“We can move now. Break in from here.” Enid marked a shining dot on the map, and the puppet was sent out. Enid was quite skilled in alchemy; she could even create a puppet that was more perfect than this one, but she was simply unwilling to do so, not unaware of it.
Therefore, this forbidden puppet technique actually has considerable weaknesses. Based on the terrain and the origin of the magic, Enid can determine where the weakest point is. This is probably contrary to common sense, but obviously no one would refuse.
They trusted her knowledge of magic, so they walked in through the main gate without any hesitation. Sure enough, they found the place to be very empty and quiet, which was quite unusual. However, with their excellent reconnaissance skills, they knew there were no surveillance devices inside. But they received a route map prepared by Enid, which showed some possible movement patterns... Strange.
“Great route.” Dick said in a very soft voice, of course, after receiving a message from Enid before he spoke, allowing him to control his volume during the conversation.
“Of course,” Enid smiled, “This is a magical loophole that he calculated based on his abilities. I knew it from the moment I saw it. He filled this place with detection magic, but unfortunately, I have learned this magic.”
She highlighted several glowing gathering points on the map, knowing they would be more concerned about the location of the survivors and their current life status.
“They can hold on for about an hour.” Tim glanced at Enid’s notes and immediately began making arrangements. Clearly, their vital signs were poor and they needed emergency care. “They’ll all be here within 10 minutes.”
"That's enough."
Dick's voice was confident, while Damian merely chuckled softly, indicating that these things were simple for him.
Despite this, no one underestimated the enemy. Instead, they proceeded more cautiously along the route provided by Enid until they passed through a very narrow gap, where they saw the struggling man in the center, wearing a robe with runes and a shiny bald head.
The other party was completely unaware that their seemingly meticulous defenses had been breached. Only when they noticed the doll that was about to arrive at the location did their expression become more solemn and expectant.
“Found it. This material is essential for another potion, the Longevity Potion.” Enid’s expression was one of overwhelming disgust as she said this. “The Longevity Potion needs this material as a neutralizer because it is essentially about robbing other people’s lifespans for one’s own use, not about actually extending one’s own lifespan.”
The laws of life are the laws governing all things, and to tamper with them is to disrespect the Mother Goddess.
Not only Enid, but everyone who heard the news felt an even deeper disgust for this magician.
Therefore, the answer is obvious. No matter how meticulous the defenses and strategies, there are always loopholes. At least against the Bat Family, there is no absolutely flawless plan. Everything has gaps, and even if there are no gaps, they will appear. When the survivors were rescued and the wizard knelt on the ground, all they could see was his terrified expression, clearly pleading.
The defensive magic Enid cast on them rendered all the magician's spells ineffective; after all, even the Storm Child he worshipped was defeated by Enid, wasn't he?
When Enid approached him, she saw the magician show fear, but he quickly rallied.
"I've lived for eight hundred years! Don't you all wish you could live to be eight hundred? Hahahaha, I can tell you!" His voice was obviously arrogant, but he quickly realized that no one would agree. Damian crossed his arms and showed a mocking expression.
"TT, you idiot. More than your secret of living to be eight hundred years old, I just want to know, can I punch him right now?"
"Um... I suggest not to, because he's dying, the last moments of his magic are coming, right? He'll die if he doesn't get the potion soon."
She felt she had been a bit cold when she said those words, so after she finished, she simply sent the other notes to Tim, then teleported away and returned to the Batcave. But as soon as she met Bruce face to face, she felt a strange sense of guilt when she met those blue eyes.
“You did a good job, Druid.”
Bruce didn't say anything else, only gently stating her code name, a gesture of approval for her operation. Alfred quickly brought over a cup of orange tea, a gentle smile on his face.
“The master has seen all of Miss Fia’s efforts,” he said, his expectant gaze putting Enid at ease. After Enid took a sip of hot tea, Afu continued, “It’s not just the master; the young masters and ladies have all guessed it. There’s nothing wrong with that.”
It is not wrong for those who covet and violate the rules to be swallowed up by the rules and punished by the god of all things.
"Ah Fu, I just...did I look really cold just now?"
Before Afu could speak, Dick's voice came through the communication channel. He seemed to have no opinion on the matter, and even said in a lighthearted tone, "Our great druid looked quite imposing just now, which is not a bad thing."
Dick didn't confront the scene directly; they simply locked the magician up in silence. Enid destroyed the doll and restored it to its original state, along with everything else there. The price was that the magician lost his magical abilities—one of the consequences of the backlash.
Now, his hair is gray, he is gradually weakening and aging, and he is waiting for death to come in the hospital ward where he is being held.
“Idiot,” Jason chuckled loudly over the public channel. “Alright, Red Robin has already arranged the funeral and posted the time on the channel.”
Enid paused for a moment upon hearing Jason's words, because while releasing the dolls, she had muttered a wish that she could bless them in the end, but she didn't expect to be overheard. She pursed her lips and smiled gently.
"Then I will offer them blessings from all things."
"It's all arranged."
Tim's voice was so soft that Enid didn't have time to respond before she felt a warm breath behind her—a familiar scent, the scent of Nightwing with the aroma of fireworks, the blue she both worried and loved. She turned to look at Dick, though it was a pity she could only look directly at his chest, but she could look up at those kissable lips. She remembered she owed him a kiss.
Tiptoeing, completely forgetting that Bruce was still watching them, Dick… well, of course he hadn’t forgotten, but obviously, who could resist a girlfriend throwing herself into their arms, right? Dick crouched down slightly to make it easier for Enid to get closer, waiting for her lips to touch his.
Her breath carried the refreshing scent of orange tea, and like her now sparkling emerald eyes, it possessed a clear and captivating allure, as soft and lovely as cotton candy. But unfortunately, it didn't last long. When Bruce coughed softly, Enid immediately reacted and Dick released her lips, though his hand was still on her waist.
Soon, the three of them could only watch helplessly as Enid's face flushed red like the morning sun. "Dick! Grayson!!! Why didn't you warn me!" she glared angrily at Dick.
"Hmm, I don't think Bruce will mind, right?" Dick shrugged, passing the buck to Bruce, who readily agreed, "Yes, I don't mind, and of course Alfred too, right?"
"Yes, I don't mind, Miss Fia. It's a symbol of your good relationship. Of course, I believe the other young masters and ladies won't mind either, right?"
"Of course." It was a group of voices, and clearly everyone had seen it.
