Chapter 86 A Father-Daughter Heart-to-Heart Talk, Sisters...

“I’ve already watched the recordings, Fia. They… well, do you know the specifics about those people?”

Bruce considered his words carefully, but ultimately avoided using the term "dolls," opting instead for "humans"—such a large number of alchemical dolls. He worried that this alchemical technique would be abused; alchemy, which should have been based on equal exchange, was being used to pay for sacrifices…

“I’m not sure how many of the Stormborn’s scriptures are still circulating there, but the ones used in that realm are different from the ones he uses. The ones in the realm are more cruel, and they can only survive by attaching themselves to the realm.” Enid sighed. “Don’t worry, no one should be using those now.”

After all, it had been lost to time. What Enid had was a unique copy, which recorded the number of people who had seen it and the number of copies made. Enid was the second person to have seen it; the first was the author.

But she, the Child of Storms, cannot be certain. Fortunately, the technical requirements are too high, and very few can currently achieve this. However, she cannot investigate each person in another world individually, but she may be able to do so in this world.

“I’ve already spoken with Leila. I’ll be having her patrol the area soon, and we’ll mark any suspicious individuals.”

“Okay,” Bruce nodded, then reached out and touched Enid’s hair. “Don’t worry too much, kid, we’re here for you.”

She paused for a moment, then smiled, squinted her eyes, and rubbed her palm against his. She was happy to receive her father's concern and raised her hand to indicate that she would behave well.

“Father, I will.” Enid paused. “Then, Father, I’d like to ask about… the descendants of Duke Aledre. Hmm, I don’t quite understand.”

Enid had always found it strange that the legends and historical records were so different from what was described in the secret realm. She had noticed the locals' protection of their descendants, which only made her more puzzled. She translated the books given to her by the prophet and gave them to Bruce. After reading the contents of the texts and watching the videos, Bruce actually understood everything.

The mythical parts of the legend are merely embellished fantasies; there was never any Lamoia Castle, only Lamoia Prison. Bruce pondered for a long time, facing Enid's bewildered expression.

"The perspective of those in power is sometimes different from that of ordinary people. No matter how those in power view their descendants, as long as ordinary people know that this is a leader who cares for his people, that is enough for them to protect him."

Most people at the bottom of society don't care who the president or officials are; all they care about is having enough to eat and living a good life—that's already a great effort. Bruce's voice was gentle; he avoided explaining the intrigue and power dynamics as much as possible. Like everyone else, he didn't want Enid to know too much about the darker side of things.

Fortunately, Enid didn't pay attention to that part of the content. Instead, she nodded vigorously, indicating that she completely understood why. However, her eyes soon lit up.

"That's the kind of hope that most people in Gotham have, just like Batman and Bruce Wayne."

“But what I hope for even more is that Gotham no longer needs Batman.” Bruce paused for a moment, then said slowly. In fact, Bruce knew that this topic was no longer suitable for further discussion. He smiled and said, “Alright, Fia, I still have Bruce’s work to finish. Didn’t you make plans to go shopping with Cassan?”

Oh right, she also made plans to go shopping! I almost forgot, Enid hurriedly put the remaining translated books on her desk. The prophet had given her a lot of books, and she was used to writing by hand, so she wrote down everything Tim had photographed. She had only come here to share this anyway.

"Ah, I almost forgot! I'll be going now, Father. See you tonight."

"Okay, see you tonight. Don't be so stingy when you're shopping, buy as much as you want."

Enid smiled and nodded in agreement to Bruce's joke, then hurriedly ran out, while Bruce looked at his work and the pile of books and shook his head helplessly.

Enid went back to her room, quickly changed her clothes, put on makeup, and went downstairs. Cassan was already waiting for her. Enid shyly went over and hugged Cassan's arm.

"Am I a little too late?"

"just."

Cassan shook her head to indicate that she wasn't late. Enid and Cassan had made plans to go to a new shopping mall in Hong Kong, and Enid was curious to see what it had to offer. Stephanie and Barbara both had other commitments and couldn't join them, while Cassan happened to be less busy today.

"Great! Let's go now!"

Enid activated the teleportation array with some enthusiasm. The other end of the teleportation array was where Cassan lived in Hong Kong. The weather was just right when they arrived. Enid pulled Cassan and ran outside. She remembered that Cassan had told her last time that the tea restaurant she passed by in Gotham was not very authentic.

"This way," Cassan gently reminded her, as Enid, who was overly lively today, had almost gone the wrong way.

Enid, a little overly excited about visiting a new place for the first time, realized she was completely unfamiliar with it, smiled sheepishly, and then took Cassan's arm, following her to the tea restaurant—it was lunchtime. Cassan didn't say much; she listened as Enid chattered on about their trip's highlights.

"Oh right, I dug up a lot of special plants this time! I've already revived the ones that were almost dead. If they get any better, can I bring them to you?"

"good."

Cassan's place has actually been filled with quite a few potted plants, not just hers, but also Jason's, Barbara's, and Stephanie's. Enid always finds all sorts of strange and cute little plants and puts them in their homes, but no one dislikes these little surprises.

Upon entering the tea restaurant, Enid heard people speaking Cantonese, English, or broken Mandarin. Although she was fluent in English, Enid looked pitifully at Cassandra and ordered her food with great familiarity.

"It's all ordered, you can try it." She already knew Enid's preferences very well, since the only other food she could order was eggs, so she chose some vegetables and desserts.

“Okay, thank you, Cassan.” Enid thought of the new recipe she had seen. “Actually, I recently saw a brand new recipe!”

Upon hearing Enid's words, Cassan fell into an eerie silence. After a long while, she finally spoke: "What dish is it?"

Enid opened her phone and showed Cassan the details of the recipe, including some rough illustrations. Cassan felt much more at ease looking at the recipe; at least it was all very simple. Seeing Enid's expectant gaze, she nodded in agreement.

"I'll try it."

“Yay, Dick said he’ll come to help me. He said that will definitely put your minds at ease.”

"Yes."

Without a moment's hesitation, Enid answered immediately, which startled her. She couldn't help but puff out her cheeks; the difference in answering speed was too great! She gave Cassan a deliberately resentful look before slowly speaking.

"I only used the oven once, there's no need for them to be so wary of me."

As soon as Enid finished speaking, a burst of laughter came from behind her. Huh? Then she saw that Cassandra couldn't help but laugh as well. She realized that they seemed to be laughing at her. She turned around and saw a young couple sitting behind them. The girl covered her mouth shyly, trying hard to suppress her laughter, and apologized repeatedly.

"Alright, then I'll forgive them." Enid waved her hand to indicate it was okay, then turned to look at Cassan, whose lips were slightly upturned.

"It's okay, we've already replaced our oven with a better one."

"I really won't burn out the oven again, I swear."

She really did learn how to use modern weapons—no, modern household appliances. Seeing Enid raise her hand in approval, Cassan nodded, just as the food arrived. It looked completely different from the dishes she'd seen at the cafes in Gotham.

"Wow, it really looks different from Gotham!" Enid took a bite, her eyes shining. "Delicious!"

"There are a few other shops around here that I know quite well, I can take you there later."

She knew some of the shop owners well, and it would be more convenient to bring her own ingredients and have them cook for her, since Enid could only eat meat offered by animals from the Sacred Forest. Hearing Cassan's words, Enid was overjoyed, but also realized that some of her habits did indeed make eating out inconvenient.

"Actually, it's okay if we don't go. We can go to Disneyland, and it's also great to see other sights."

"Okay, shall we go tomorrow?"

"Yay! Hmm, I can ask anyone else if they want to come along. I haven't been to Disneyland in this city before. Can I get you an animal ear headband?"

Faced with Enid's sparkling eyes, Cassandra gave in after a moment and nodded in agreement. She then saw a message from Enid on the family channel; Stephanie quickly replied, saying she was available, and Barbara followed suit.

However, it's obvious that tomorrow won't work, but after calculating the time, the day after tomorrow will be just right.

“Then let’s go together the day after tomorrow. Speaking of which, my father promised me that the whole family would go together and take a family photo to hang at home.”

“Sure,” Cassan thought it was a good idea. “We can ask Bruce next time.”

Anyway, she had no objections, and the rest of the family probably didn't either. But she would need to make time for it. She was actually a little curious about what the other family members would look like with animal ears on. Cassan was pretty sure Enid would definitely try to get everyone to wear them.

Enid, whose guess came true as Cassands had it right, has already started secretly planning what headbands to wear for everyone.
