Chapter 11: My Big Sister is an Academician

Chen Chun looked back at his excited brother, and countless questions flashed through his mind.

Chen Qiu thought that his elder brother was sick again after having water in his brain, so he quickly pulled his elder sister's sleeve and told her in her ear what happened earlier when Chen Chun fell into the water and had some problems with his brain.

It wouldn't matter if he didn't say it, but once he said it, Chen Chun started to cry.

It turned out that after her parents died, her younger brother worked so hard to take care of the family. He had to do so much farm work every day and still didn't have enough to eat. He even almost fell into the river and drowned. But she was able to sit in a bright classroom and receive the best education.

Even the normally strong Iron Lady couldn't help but tear up, and regardless of the strange looks from her classmates, she hugged Chen Xia tightly.

"Second brother, I'm sorry. It's my fault. I didn't take good care of you and made you suffer. I'm sorry..."

Chen Xia felt indescribably moved when being hugged by the future female academician.

But he knew that now was not the time to cry. With so many people watching, if someone who didn't know the truth spread some rumors, it would have a huge impact on Chen Chun's future.

Society in 1980 was still very conservative.

So he deliberately said loudly: "Sister, why are you crying? I am fine. I came to see you in good health."

Chen Chun looked Chen Xia up and down again. Seeing that he was in good spirits and looked more sunny than before, he felt a lot more relieved.

Then he happily took Chen Dong's hand again and said, "Come on, I'll take you to the cafeteria for dinner."

Chen Chun only receives a subsidy of 19 yuan a month. She usually lives frugally and can save 5 yuan every month to give to her younger siblings.

So her university life is still quite difficult, and she has no conditions to take her younger brothers and sisters out to eat.

But no one cared. Even my great-uncle didn't clamor to eat something delicious. University was a sacred place for him. It was an honor for him to be able to come in and have a meal in the cafeteria, especially since the food in the university cafeteria tasted pretty good.

Chen Dong obviously trusted his elder sister more. He snuggled up to Chen Chun the whole time and held her hand tightly.

The successive deaths of his parents caused greater emotional damage to the youngest child, Chen Dong. However, being sensible, he did not show it in front of outsiders, but he often shed tears alone at night.

When he was a child, his eldest sister loved him the most, so when he saw her again, his inner fragility turned into attachment to her, and he didn't want to leave her for a moment.

Chen Chun is a girl with high IQ. How could she not see what her younger brother is thinking? She also felt particularly sorry for him and gave him all the little shredded meat she had during the meal.

After dinner, the five of them sat in the small garden, and Chen Xia told his eldest sister about what had happened recently.

Including his father being named a martyr, he will take over his father's job and will go to the Fourth Hospital to work in half a month, although he will only be an ordinary worker.

In addition, the issue of father's pension was also mentioned, but he didn't dare to say that he had used the money to buy food. He just said that he was afraid of losing it on the way, so he hid it at home and would use it to subsidize his eldest sister when she had the chance in the future.

The more Chen Chun listened, the happier she became. She felt relieved that her brother's work and study problems had been solved.

She thought that since her brother might become a doctor in the future, she, as a medical student, could help him improve his medical theoretical knowledge.

But when Chen Xia took out her father's martyr certificate and looked at her father's photo in the red book, Chen Chun could no longer hold back his tears.

Chen Qiu and Chen Dong also started crying, and the uncle was also wiping away tears.

Chen Xia had to pinch her thighs hard a few times, and finally she shed a few tears.

At such a heavy and sad moment, it seems out of place not to shed tears. It would be bad if Academician Chen noticed something was wrong.

That night everyone stayed in the university dormitory.

Because it was summer vacation, many dormitory beds were empty, so Chen Qiu and Chen Dong followed their eldest sister to live in the girls' dormitory.

Chen Xia and his uncle were asked by their eldest sister to live in the men's dormitory by a male classmate.

The first day in the big city of Lin'an passed by in such an uneventful manner.

Only Chen Xia knew that his chance as a profiteer was about to come.
