Chapter 705: Xiangjiang Aids the Construction of Multiple Departments

After Wu Shaochen, Xie Liping and others returned from their studies at Mayo, Chen Xia certainly had to do something about it.

One year is neither long nor short, especially since some of these people have received further training at Margaret Hospital and Wellington Hospital, which means it is almost two years.

Which hospital in China has the courage and ability to send so many doctors to top hospitals for further training at once?

Only Yuezhou Hospital has done this, right?

So what are you waiting for? Show off and let people all over the country know that Yuezhou Hospital has become so awesome.

But how to show off is a matter of course. In China in the 1980s, it was definitely not okay to brag about oneself. The best way was to invite commercial talents who made nutritional supplements to promote them.

They can create something out of nothing and sell it for tens of billions of dollars by diluting saccharin with water. This is not something that ordinary marketers can do.

But Chen Xia is a person with a bottom line. He is a "good dean" who has broken away from vulgar tastes. Of course, he will not do that kind of brain marketing.

Then there is only one way left, "foreign monks are better at chanting sutras", convert exports into domestic sales, and put on a foreign coat.

So in May, people all over the country learned from the newspapers that Yuezhou Hospital affiliated to Zhijiang Medical University would become a "sister hospital" with Hong Kong Margaret Hospital, and the two hospitals would start comprehensive cooperation.

Previously, Yuezhou Hospital has formed partnerships with hospitals around the world, but this is just a nice thing to say and doesn’t actually have much use. At most, it can give you some places for further training.

Moreover, Chen Xia also had his own selfish motives. He had to first ensure that his own industry, Margaret Hospital, would be the first to become one of the world's top hospitals.

Therefore, more inter-hospital exchange activities were given to our own hospitals.

This time, the "sister pairing" between Yuezhou Hospital and Margaret Hospital is practical.

First, doctors from the two hospitals will work in each other's hospitals, similar to visiting scholars.

It used to be "further training", but now it is "visit". The difference in words puts Yuezhou Hospital and Margaret Hospital on the same level and grade, and they are in an equal relationship.

Secondly, Margaret will help Yuezhou Hospital establish a complete "hospital modern management system"

For example, we should implement the responsibility system for medical quality and safety at both the hospital and department levels, and establish a medical quality management and control system that involves all staff and covers the entire process of clinical diagnosis and treatment services.

We implement core medical quality and safety systems such as first-visit responsibility, three-level ward rounds, graded nursing, graded surgical management, graded management of antimicrobial drugs, and clinical blood safety.

Implement hospital infection management systems, internal medical quality disclosure systems, etc. Strengthen quality and safety management of key departments, key areas, key links, and key technologies, and promote rational examinations, medication, and treatment.

Promote the standardization, refinement and scientific management of Yuezhou Hospital, and basically establish a modern hospital management system with clear rights and responsibilities, scientific management, sound governance, efficient operation and strong supervision.

Chen Xia is a person who believes in the system. "Rule by man" is too risky. It depends on whether the dean is willing to be a "good person" and whether he is a responsible person.

If you get a good director, the hospital will prosper. If you get a bad director, the hospital will immediately become a mess.

So what Chen Xia had to do was to fix every aspect and corner of the hospital with systems that even the director could not violate.

A management system can only be modern if those in power do not break the rules of the game first.

A family-run dynasty cannot achieve modernization.

Finally, Margaret Hospital will help Yuezhou Hospital establish two important departments: "Emergency Center" and "Intensive Care Center", and in the long term there will also be a "Difficult Disease Center".

In the 1980s, there were almost no modern "emergency centers" in Huaguo Hospital. Emergency departments like Yuezhou Hospital were actually "night clinics."

The hospital has only one ambulance, and patients can only be transported by ambulance within the urban area or in key factories and mines.

Once they leave the urban area and reach the vast rural areas, the ambulances simply don't go, and these people can only wait to die.

In addition, the current emergency surgery department can basically only perform simple debridement and suturing. Some emergency surgeries cannot be carried out, such as appendicitis. There is no sterile operating room and the doctors are not qualified enough.

At this time, if there is an emergency patient, a call is usually made to the relevant department, and the doctor, nurse, and anesthesiologist will rush over from home.

When encountering a critically ill patient, the best chance of rescue is often missed, after all, it takes extra time for the doctor to rush over from home.

The emergency department also has many problems. For example, if you send a critically ill patient with myocardial infarction or pulmonary embolism, the emergency department will not be able to handle it at all.

The emergency department only has simple auxiliary departments open, such as blood tests, electrocardiograms, and X-rays. Detailed examinations cannot be performed, so you can't make a diagnosis immediately, right?

By the time you can diagnose the disease, the emergency room staff don't know how to perform advanced procedures like thrombolysis or interventional therapy. They don't even have a basic ECG monitor.

Chen Xia had worked in the emergency department and knew the seriousness of the problem, so he directly asked Margaret to help build an emergency department in Yuezhou Hospital and provide all the emergency equipment.

Of course, this money was also donated by the wealthy people in Hong Kong. The 500 million Hong Kong dollars have not been used up yet. Now that it has been used up, huh, they will not donate anymore?

Another one is the "Intensive Care Center", which is commonly known as the ICU.

For some critically ill patients, if they are not admitted to the ICU, it can be said that their condition will only get worse, and they may even die in a very short time.

For example: patients with severe trauma, cardiopulmonary resuscitation, multiple organ failure, severe shock, sepsis and poisoning, various postoperative critically ill patients, patients with severe water and electrolyte imbalance, and those who need monitoring and intensive treatment before and after organ transplantation

etc.

To put it simply, your condition is critical and you may die at any time, but there is still hope of survival. These patients are the key patients sent to the ICU.

The ICU is equipped with bedside monitors, central monitors, multi-functional respiratory therapy machines, anesthesia machines, electrocardiographs, defibrillators, pacemakers, infusion pumps, micro-syringes, first aid equipment required for endotracheal intubation and tracheotomy, and other equipment.

It is also equipped with the most technically advanced doctors and nurses who can provide you with bedside first aid at any time, making it impossible for you to die even if you want to. Do you think such a department is important?

The level of first aid and the level of care for critically ill patients are also important reference indicators for measuring the overall level of a hospital.

If Yuezhou Hospital wants to become a first-class national and world-famous hospital, these two departments are indispensable.

After the establishment of the Tongjin ICU, Yuezhou Hospital will be able to perform some high-end large-scale operations. For example, the liver transplantation that Xie Liping is studying can be carried out in Yuezhou Hospital soon.
