Chapter 3: Rebirth with the Hospital

On the way home, Chen Xia's mind was still full of questions.

It was just the cobblestone road under his feet, the dilapidated old houses around him, and the revolutionary slogans everywhere on the walls that made him believe that this was 1980.

The Chen family lives at the west end of the village. Because the family is well off, Chen Bingkun built several "grand" red brick and tile houses at the westernmost end of the village, surrounded by a courtyard wall.

What was once the most luxurious residence in Qingfeng Village has now become a "haunted house" in the eyes of the villagers.

Otherwise, how could the mother and father of the Chen family die one after another after they moved into the new house, and now even the second son of the Chen family is almost going to see the King of Hell.

In fact, it’s not that close. The real Chen Xia has already gone to the underworld to reunite with his parents. The one occupying this body is another monster named Chen Xia.

After returning home, Chen Qiu quickly pushed Chen Xia to the room to rest for a while.

Uncle Awang instructed that Chen Xia could not go out to work in the fields for the next few days and that he had to supplement his nutrition, otherwise he would easily develop a chronic illness.

Chen Xia also wanted to sleep for a while. One reason was that he hadn't figured it out yet and didn't know how to face this strange brother and sister and this strange world.

The other one was indeed very tired. This would happen to anyone who suffocated for a few minutes and was rescued.

So he fell asleep in a daze.

In his dream, he seemed to be back in 2020, still in Jiangzhou People's Hospital where he worked.

He wandered around the hospital alone, sometimes visiting the pharmacy, sometimes walking around the operating room. On the desk of the hepatobiliary surgery department was a research report that he was about to submit.

Everything feels so real, as if nothing has changed.

Suddenly, Chen Xia woke up, lay on the bed, looked at the mosquito nets made of coarse linen around him, and sighed. It was clearly still 1980.

Then I couldn't help but feel upset.

If I had known that I would travel through time, I should have read more online novels of later generations and remembered the major events happening in the country and the world in the next few decades, especially those related to stock funds, oil futures, etc. At least I could have become the richest man in the world, married Ivanka, and reached the pinnacle of my life.

Chen Xia smacked his lips. It didn't matter that he couldn't remember those major economic events. If he could own a hospital like the one in his dreams, he could also make a living in this strange era with his medical skills and medicines that surpassed those of decades ago.

It is impossible to farm, it is impossible to farm in this life.

Just as he was recalling the scenes in his dream, the scenery before him suddenly changed.

He was surprised to find himself in the outpatient hall of the hospital in his previous life. However, the hospital was now empty, without the usual bustling scene of people coming and going.

Chen Xia snapped his fingers and realized instantly that this should be the golden finger or rebirth benefit for those who are reborn in novels, right?

The subsequent plot is unremarkable. There is no better gift than a space hospital where one can enter and exit freely through one's own thoughts.

Chen Xia kept going in and out of the space hospital, having a lot of fun.

Suddenly he remembered that his body had fallen into the water accidentally, so he must have inhaled a large amount of riverbed mud. In order to avoid aspiration pneumonia, Chen Xia decided to take a few cephalosporin pills from the medicine shelf to prevent possible lung infection in advance.

Then he walked around the hospital alone, looking up and down the stairs. It was exactly the same as the real Jiangzhou City Hospital.

It’s a pity that I can’t go to the administrative building, otherwise I would definitely dance on the dean’s desk.

The only difference was that there was fog outside the hospital, as if there was an invisible wall, and Chen Xia couldn't take a single step out of the hospital.

If you can't get out, then you can't get out. Chen Xia took out a pair of hemostatic forceps from the operating room, and fiddled with it, clamping and loosening it, wandering around like a "street urchin".

I never dared to do that at work before. I had to be careful about my words and behavior at all times when I was wearing a white coat.

Whenever a doctor makes any exaggerated gestures or words, it will be immediately photographed by countless patients or their families with their mobile phones and posted online. Then a group of keyboard warriors will start endless malicious attacks, which is extremely annoying.

But now, it’s okay to run naked even in the hospital.

Chen Xia hummed a song as he slowly walked back to the pharmacy. He was surprised to find that the medicine cabinet was full again, even though he had just taken out a box of cephalexin.

Could it be that the medicines and equipment in the space hospital could be automatically replenished? Wouldn't that mean they would never run out?

In order to confirm his judgment, he took some medicine from different medicine cabinets, then pushed the door open and found that the medicine cabinets were indeed full.

The excited Chen Xia suddenly imitated Zhou Tianwang and howled in the hospital lobby.

"Yo yo chek noo, make a fortune noo, eat meat noo."

Chen Qiu was cooking, and Chen Dong squatted beside the stove, his eyes fixed on the food. He took in the aroma and kept breathing deeply. The Chen family hadn't eaten dry rice in a long time, let alone meat.

Chen Guoqing carried 20 kilograms of rice from the brigade headquarters and brought a small piece of pork from his home.

Chen Guolin also sent a few eggs from home, and Third Grandma sent some white sugar that she had been saving since the Chinese New Year.

These things are definitely scarce foods in this era. Maybe the Chen family didn't lack them before, but since their father passed away, the three siblings of the Chen family haven't had a full meal for a long time.

"Fourth Brother, go wake me up, the meal is ready."

After Chen Chun was admitted to university in 1977, he had actually left the family.

After Chen's mother passed away last year, Chen's father was busy with work and Chen Xia was a young master, so the problem of cooking was left to Chen Qiu, the only girl in the family.
